Yidindji National Day Official Speech January 7 2021

YIDINDJI NATIONAL DAY OFFICIAL SPEECH The Hon. Murrumu of Walubara Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade, Minister for Renewable Energy, Minister for Communications & Broadband.

Thank you.

First and foremost I want to acknowledge the members of the Yidindji society, Jangalan Yidindji, the elders of the tribal council and of course my colleagues, that hold offices of the Yidindji government.

But more importantly, I would like to acknowledge, Gayaburra, the one true God and His only begotten Son Yeshua Hamashiach for He truly is a rock and a fortress.

January 7 is important day here on the Yidindji territory and without it, we as a government may not have come into existence, which is the very reason that we have identified this day as the official Yidindji national day.

But maybe a lot of people, don't know how and why January 7 is a significant date.

It was on this day in 2013, that the very beginnings of what we know today as the Sovereign Yidindji Government started its journey.

There had been a meeting held on the tablelands, and it was determined that the Yidindji nation would reinvigorate the law, and express it in written form through a legal personality that was created by and subject to the very law of the land. So it began the codification process.

Goon-Jarrah-By on behalf of the Yalmabara clan of Yidindji declared in a letter that was addressed to several international persons including but not limited to, the Pope Joseph Ratzinger, the Queen head of the Commonwealth, the United nations and the Australian Prime Minister, who was Julia Gillard at that time in relation to Yidindji and I quote: “from this day forward will be conducting Tribal activities on Yidindji Tribal Lands for the full enjoyment of the Tribal People.”

In the historic 19 page document, Goon-Jarrah-By, outlined the intentions of the Yidindji nation in particular the following: That the Yidindji nation was to let the world know of its continuing law and sovereignty, in the article it was written: “The Tribal People have never gave, ceded, treatied, bargained, sold or contracted away Tribal Lands, the British Government of the time and subsequently the State

just felt free to take the Tribal Lands, even though the Tribal Lands were not and are not free to take without the consent of the Yidindji Tribal people. As part of our unalienable fundamental freedoms, the activities and aspirations will be anything that the Tribal People have done in the past, doing at present and will do in the future, such as but not limited to self governing, administration, policing, education, hunting,fishing, resource utilisation, barter, wealth generation by use of natural wealth and resources of the Tribal Lands, taking possession of all constructions, erections and fixtures on Tribal Lands not authorised by Tribal People and any other activity for the benefit and enjoyment of the Tribal People and Tribal Lands.�

This was truly a comprehensive notice that had paved the way for us all. By the way, this historic document can be found on the Yidindji government gazette which will be posted with this video via the various social media platforms.

So where is the Yidindji nation at as of this day 2021. Well I'm very happy to report that the SYG has increased over the years.

Currently, we have the following offices and or departments.

Garna Jimmuru, office of the Chief Minister Gulal Dugar, office of the Attorney-General; Bunjur, office of Health Walpa bama, office of Social Services Binal, office of the treasury Yinyu Bungan, office of renewable energy; Ngalan bama, Aged care; Mayarra Nyalalji, office of Police; Gurrnggaang, Communications & broadband; Ja Birynjalin, office of Sports & recreation; Nyaambin, office of the Arts Wulburuuny, office of Cultural Affairs Dulgu, office of Parks & wildlife; Dulgu Jubuja, the department of Environment; Jubu Jilli, office of the surveyor general; Jiggul, the department of Education; Banambanam, office of Forestry & Water; Jigurr, department of Emergency Services; Munduung Binaajin, Employment and Training; Minjaani Wungarlji, the office of foreign Affairs & Trade.

So January 7 is a special day, to acknowledge the hard work of the government ministers and the elders put in the time to make Yidindji great.

In my capacity as Foreign Affairs & Trade Minister I'm very happy to also acknowledge and recognise the diplomatic staff that are assisting.

To those listening and or watching this address, we have several diplomats working for the Yidindji nation: Special Envoy to Latin America, & Ambassador to the Ngambri territory Her Excellency Lara-Leslie Gundungurra; Ambassador to the Gaimaragal territory Her Excellency Susan Gurindji-Woolwonga;

Special Envoy to the Himalayas, His excellency Justin of Bundawadjin; and His Excellency Deen of Worimi, Ambassador to the Worimi territory.

Her Excellency Jawarra Yiway, Ambassador to the Squamish territory.

Her Excellency Tratha Tjungundji, Ambassador to the Tjungundji territory.

Special Envoy to the Pacific Taufa Tongilava And we are to appoint a Special Envoy to the Commonwealth & European Union.

The Foreign Affairs office has the responsibility of granting entry visas to the Yidindji territory and we are now making receiving regular requests for these documents.

A special mention must be made here to our German friends who were the first UN member state to receive full entry visas for all their diplomatic staff.

We have established and are committed to developing international relations with UN member states and indigenous societies whose governments are non UN member states.

We currently have volunteers who are looking at establishing in the creative arts trade connection with Brasilian artists, just another project that the Yidindji nation is taking on.

In terms of recognition, all UN member states acknowledge and recognise the Yidindji nation and its Dominium Eminens - the paramount right of property on its territory; exercise of the right is governed by the laws of the Yidindji nation itself The international law realm also recognises and acknowledges Yidindji's Imperium ; that is, the sovereign right of governance that Yidindji nation exercises over its territory.

The message today for those interested parties, if you own the land, then act like it. This pretty much summarises what January 7 is all about for the Yidindji people.

What will this year bring for the Yidindji nation, well its a good question: Currently the Yidindji government through the office of the Attorney-General is actively building the court system with mediation training taking place later this month; the education department is close to announcing the very first stages of an online based university; which is an important step on paper at least building the skills base of the Yidindji nation. And there will be more exciting developments this year.

While the Yidindji nation moves forward on governing its territory and conducting business with the world, its important also to acknowledge that there are great Australians who are also doing their bit to assist the Yidindji and Commonwealth of Australia bridge building, that's currently ongoing as we speak.

A special to mention to Nigel Scullion, who in my view, is not only a wonderful man, but a great Australian.

There are many academics, journalists, Australian mums and dads that continue to support the treaty process and to those wonderful characters we say thank you.
