An Engineer Imagines Cork City 2101 Design Competition for Professionals Submissions by: accompanied by €100 entry fee

Friday 18th February 2022

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Engineers Ireland Cork Region, we invite members of Engineers Ireland, and all other built environment professionals, to submit an illustration of their vision of Cork City in 80 years’ time; the year 2101.

We encourage participants, individuals or in teams, to reflect on the changes to the fabric and society of the City over the past 80 years and to use all their creativity to imagine a future City; a future we hope will see Cork as a highly desirable place to live and visit, while meeting challenges such as climate change.

Engineers Ireland Cork Region has the following cash prize awards: • €5,000 for 1st place; • €2,000 for 2nd place; • €1,000 for 3rd place.

Winners and shortlisted entrants will receive publicity within Engineers Ireland Journal and local media, culminating in an exhibition of the best entries.

Demonstration of innovation and creativity will be rewarded in this deliberately open design brief. Full competition and entry requirement details can be obtained through an expression of interest email to Competition@engineersirelandcork.ie Submission, accompanied by a €100 registration fee, shall be made on or before 4pm on 18th February 2022 and the winners will be selected and announced on 4th March 2022. http://www.engineersirelandcork.ie/

Cork Lower Harbour River Crossing 2101 Design Competition for full time 3rd Level Students Submissions by:

Friday 18th February 2022

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Engineers Ireland Cork Region, we invite full time 3rd level students of all engineering and built environment disciplines to submit a poster of their vision of a future crossing of the River Lee and/or Cork Harbour.

We encourage participants, individuals or in teams of up to 4, to use all their creativity to imagine an innovative crossing to support the goals of sustainable transport and planning.

Engineers Ireland Cork Region has cash prize awards of: • €400 for 1st place; • €200 for 2nd place; • €100 for 3rd place.

Winners and shortlisted entrants will receive publicity within Engineers Ireland Journal and local media, culminating in an exhibition of the best entries.

Demonstration of innovation and creativity will be rewarded in this deliberately open design brief.
