O

ur project intends to connect the city to nature. Our rectilinear building works as a passageway to the river’s habitat. There are three main elements of our architecture: the rectilinear building, the circulation, and the pods.We aim to integrate the city to the natural habitat that is the Chicago River in a space that is visually cohesive and leaves a lasting impression on the people of Chicago. Ultimately, our design is more than just a physical space- it’s a starting point for the future. We hope that our project will inspire and inform future waterfront developments, providing a model for creating innovative and sustainable urban environments that celebrate the power and beauty of water.

A

kdeniz University Campus is a green space surrounded by intense urban texture. The campus expands from the West gate of the University. The selected project area is located between the Western and Southern entrance of the university, with a long green band in the East. The irregularly structured area visible when observing the

general environment lead the Faculty of the department of Architecture and Design to offer a site plan that conforms with the rest of the University design while also building in a fluid unity unique to this design. The large mass of the interstate was used to balance the space between small scale housing construction with the Urbanized areas around

the large faculty structures included in the campus. The structure has been pulled forward and backward in order to benefit from maximum passive solar gains which from a design perspective also benefits from more dynamic asthetic.

he studios and classrooms are located to the North and the other units to the South. What is important for studios is homogenous daylight.

The studios should not be affected by the movement of the sun. For this reason they are located to the North. The other units are south-facing against the cold of winter. All units can be opened to the green terraces and exist within the continuity of nature.

These green trerraces offer a breath-taking, socializing and interaction space for students and lecturers between long and exhausting working hours. They will also turn these areas into open learning areas and create fun and dynamic space. Before building the architectural installation; a way of approaching education which includes interactivty, openness and contiunity were considered in a holistic approach. This strenghtens the overall perspective that education is limited to interior spaces, but includes the external asthetic to embrace participants in the structure.

External and interior design aspects codify the notion of embracing the full range of Architecture as a critical education.

onference halls, placed at the level of-6.00 have the aim of easy accessiblity for participation from other faculties in the campus, from the city and for providing pedestrian interaction without inferring with Architectural education.

The structural 3 entrance was also considered with this design. The user arriving from the Uncali Gate, reaches to the level of -3.45 where the conference rooms and administrative units are located. The user who approached the 0.00 level from the north side reaches the common areas that include social areas such as canteen, library, blueprint, stationery, student clubs and model workshop via the help of a bridge. The users who participate in these levels are scattered upwards in relation to their division.

Antalya is quite suitable for renewable energy production with a large number of sunny days. The building will be able to produce a large portion of the energy it consumes through photovoltaic panels.

he ‘ (Obs)Irving Canoe Camp ‘ project is proposed for the canoe landing area at Irving Park in the Forest Glen along the Chicago River. The existing plan includes a parking lot, and the area faces a huge flooding problem and is used for kayaking purposes. This project tries to give a solution to this flooding problem with the terraced land with supported dense tree roots and canopy. The water level changes seasonally and serves to the visitors a safe and dry camping area. The proposed project could give a chance to visitors to relax river moments while kayaking and camping in the forest as well as to the neighbors and observe the activities and the forest view across the Chicago River. The tower works ad a landmark to be seen from the surrounding road with highly-speeded traffic. The terraced design gives an opportunity for diversified habitats and wet zones to address the different activities. The area could be used day and night and also in different seasons for different usages. The (Obs) Irving Canoe Camp is a new natural habitat with beautiful forest and river moments for contemplation on the Northside of Chicago.

Weavıng Focus of Urban Research Development Center and Recreatıon Area

O

riginally nothing more than a farm, the Kepez region emerged in the 1950’s as a zone of industrial growth. From 2003 onward, the area lost its signifigance when the operation of the weaving factories ceased. From there, it became an unhabitated. The old factories located in this part of the city create literal walls between useable living space in the city and for this reason, the properties create opportunities to open the space.

This project aims to break down the walls created by the vacant manifacturing facilities and to the make unused spaces more accessible to the community thereby increasing socio-economic engagement in negleted areas of Antalya. The new space is aimed at reviving the region and transforming it into an important building block for future growth in the city.

I

t was envisaged that the proposal to be made for the project site would be considered as a gap which, contrary to this breaktrough, would organize the vital movement in the integrated city and provide the flow in urban life. This

space is aimed at reviving the socio-cultural life of the region living in night and day, and thus tranfroming into an important building block of the city life, where the city can breathe through the intense urban texture, the individual can participate in social life with different functions and activities.

ld woven fabrics were used to evoke memories of the textiles created here while the careful design of the exterior works to include and meld with the existing historical structures that exist nearby.

The objective of the design is to participate in urban life with a focal point along the walkways of the stack of qualified buildings. An additional objective is to develop the urban gaps that allow the city to meet in the squares that are articulated to pedestrian walking axes.

The general movement of the region has been the focus on the target development area. The organization of the proposed square and pedestrian walkways have been shaped by taking into consideration historical buildings.

An attempt was made to establish a qualified contextual relationship with the registered structures by the designed research & development center.

This space was developed with the following design criterion: -Emphasis on the character of the industrial heritage -The integration of the original industrial production sheme withease of access for pedestrian circulation.

The R&D Center is articulated in the historical memory spaces, creating its own central space and enabling us to observe innovative solutions developed by science and technology. Over time, the ideas spreading from the center will form their own rhetoric and form a common ground for a collective place attachment. This dynamism will connect with that have created in the process will connect with other areas of Antalya.

ith the new regulation, the Old Weaving Factory will become a symbol of the social and cultural sharing of society by getting rid of an abandoned space.

Social environmental stress is the most important problem of the region. As a resolution to this problem, it is believed that the creation of a promenade will express the historical memories and movement among these buildings; the urban spaces on this axis are considered as ‘meeting and activity spaces’. What is important at these ground points is that the users who do not feel sense of belonging directly the spaces currently will become grounded and familiar with the nesw place. Thus, the project area will be publicized and become a city center. The transportation network that flows around the land will be declerated by the stroll route and the urban floors.

I

n this one-tree project, Vitis vinifera provides a good cover, screening, and shade as a monument.

As well as a gathering space with your loved ones while you are consuming your wine which is produced by the tree, with served grapes from the tree in the summertime. Also, it attracts birds as a generous monument and generates the feast in and all around.
