On April 5, 1995 a historic event in the timber industry in Sabah was unveiled with the signing of the conditional Sale and Purchase Agreement between The North Borneo Timbers Berhad (NBT) and Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (ICSB) pertaining to ICSB's shareholding in Sabah Softwoods Sdn Bhd and the Reforestation Agreement covering a 100,000 hectare logged-over area. Director/Chief Executive, Yayasan Sabah/ICSB, YB Datuk Musa Haji Aman was the main signatory for ICSB while NBT was represented by its newly-appointed Managing Director James H. Glyn. Datuk Mohd. Salleh Tun Said was on hand to witness the occasion. In a joint press statement issued by ICSB and NBT, the latter proposed to issue new shares to ICSB that will result in ICSB gaining majority shareholdingintheCompany. Thisis more than just a corporate exercise of share swap and management change. ICSB, the investment arm of Yayasan Sabah, was entrusted with a sizable natural forest area to be managed on a sustainable basis. NBT is a public listed company with vast management experience in forestry, in particular reforestation. It is the pooling of resources of these two major parties involved in forestry man-
