Annual Dinner 1991: An Evening To Remember

December 20 proved to be an evenin9 to be remembered by more than 800 staff of YS/ICSB who packed the Auaitorium foyer which was decorated to reflectthQmood ofthQ nigh\. It was made more significant with the presence of YAB the ChiefSabah Board of Minister Trustees,cum Chairman of YayasanDatukJoseph Pairin Kitingan and his wife, Datin Genevieve. The night kicked off with a welcoming speech by the Orgamsing Affairs, En. Chairman cum Group Manager, PublicEdward Sung Burongoh. In his speech, En. Burongoh thanked the Organlsing Committee for their effort, hardwork, team spirit and professionalism in making the night something to shout about. Then itwas feast time. The highlights of the night were none other than the games competition - Impersonation of Singing Stars and Sound Mimicking. The many different sounds in our daily lives, some beyond our imaginations, were mimicked by a total of ten contestants. The sporting participants were all geared up to entertain the auaience with their fancy •• performances. These series of sound mimicking not only put most of the audiences into laughing spirif, but also paved the way for the contestants to win some exciting and interesting prizes. The winner was Mat Dalan "Hj. Yussof, followed by Noraini Abdullah in second place and Vera Ligadup, third.

The Singing Stars Impersonation too caught the attention of many especially sexy-looking Madonna (Angeline Edwin) coming up the stage with her slim beauti!ul figure dancing away ana daring Anita Sarawak (Lonia Adam) who won seccnd place with her rend~ion of "Oengar Ini Cerita. " M. Daud Kilau (Saiful Sigun) did his part too with"Lenggang Lenggok Daud Kilau "and walked away with a tflird prize. HowQver, the most captivating singing star who stole away the heart of all the judges w~h her dink-dank anklets, wrapped in shining sari, with expressive eyes, attractive body movements that coordinated very well with the typical Indian Classical music was none other than the lady from India (Supiah Tanjin). She stole the evening with her vibrant and energertlc effort. Her impressive talent in lip sync, dance and humour received resounding cheer from the crowd. F~r their e.fforts, all the participants were rewarded with attractive prizes. The audience was also very encouraging, enthuasiastic and generous with their applause, whistles and comments. And of course, what is a party without a lucky draw? Some 30 prizes including the top prize, a return air ticket to Kuala Lumpur were given away. Other entertainments include games like limbo rock and musical chair. Then the pulsating disco music and lights brought the crowd to the dance floor. Those on the floor seemed to be dancing their heads off. When the party dispersed at about midnight many diehard revellers were still seen chatting and danCing. The Iight-footeo ones danced till they called it a night at1 am.

It ~as a night of great fun, good food and fantastic prizes! Everyone had a wonderful time/ thanks to the Organising Committee whose splendid job made the function a success.
