WORKSHOPS EXERCISE

WORKSHOPS EXERCISE with wood INTRODUCTION During the year, the exercise with different mate rials has been introduced especially with the wood, experimenting with our creativity and im agination in creating a model. At the initial idea of stars and moon, it was then thought to give a 3D volume with the result of large buildings characterized by different heights. Green has been added around the buildings for functional and sustainable architecture.

Throughout the portfolio it will be introduced the design to you, the development process and finally the model.

This project has been curated individually.

CONCEPT DRAWING AND PROCESS

Initial idea of stars and moon from which the inspiration and shape was taken to create buildings and monuments with different heights.

With the use of several machines in the workshop and with the assistance of Dr. James, it was possible to achieve the desired model.

An exercise was performed with cotton and toothpicks to create small scale trees based on the building’s height.

DIGITAL FABRICATION EXERCISE

INTRODUCTION During the sessions for digital fabrication we had experience in laser cutting and gain an understa nding of how it could support the projects. The laser cutting is a process which helps to cut precise model parts, much faster and accurately than other methods. This was an exercise to create a 3D laser cut cube model therefore having the ability to do the same thing for the iconic house.

Throughout the portfolio it will be introduced the design to you, the process and model making.

FARNSWORTH HOUSE Mies Van Der Rohe INTRODUCTION What has influenced our society and the place to live well ?

It is definitely the house, the modern architecture of the contemporary period, its function, regularity, clarity and simplicity.

Important is the innovation with new materials and technologies. This project was an opportunity to get to know the true essence of architecture, its purpose and the work of archi tects.

Throughout the portfolio it will be introduced the collage, the architectural drawings, the pro cess and the modelmaking.

PROCESS AND MODEL MAKING

With the assistance of Dr. Chetan, the laser cutter was used to be able to cut accurately every single piece of the house.

Flowers in memory of the life of the wonderful and exemplary architect Mies van der Rohe. He is my favorite architect because his ideals are similar to mine. Pure beauty is in simplicity. From small seeds, large trees bloom, as well as in life, without the small things, there would be no bigger ones. The Farnsworth House is an example of a building in itself very simple and characterized by minimalism; despite this feature, it has had worldwide recognition up to the present day.
