The 750-seat Auditorium has been designed and built to the highest performance specifications. The facility was opened in 2013 and has hosted numerous high-profile performers, such as Heather Small, Rob Beckett and Colin Baker, The London Gospel Choir, The London Festival Opera and many more. The facility has also been awarded two prestigious RIBA awards for design excellence.
AUDITORIUM
The Friarage Theatre has been built to the same standards as the Princess Alexandra Auditorium but provides a more intimate space with 140 seats. The HD projector and surround sound mean it is the perfect venue for National Theatre Live and RSC Live. Blue Stockings follows the journey of some of the first female students at Girton College, Cambridge University as the hurdles of life, love and family expectations.

The Island is one of the most famous plays of the second half of the 20th Century and has been seen all over the world. A rich, boisterous, funny, moving piece of theatre, it is a hymn to the human spirit and a cry for freedom everywhere. John and Winston are sharing a cell. They survive through a mixture of solidarity, bickering, laughter and defiance. They are preparing a production of Antigone for the other prisoners, but Winston has trouble remembering the lines and isn’t sure he wants to play Antigone. The two men’s sense of brotherhood has kept them going for years, then John hears that he’s going to be released…

Paul is now better known for his work on SKY TV as a presenter of the Fantasy Football show. Joining him as host for the evening, Middlesbrough Football Club legend and former Hartlepool United Manager, Craig Hignett.

We have an excellent on-site bar serving a wide range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. You will be able to find the bar on the lower ground floor upon entering the foyer of the auditorium, the bar opens 45-60 minutes before performances and closes after the interval. We accept both cash and card payments in the main bar, with the exception of American Express. We also have a range of snacks available. We stock crisps and sweets, as well as a range of delicious ice cream on our Foyer kiosk. The Kiosk accepts cash and card payments, however the ice cream sellers only accept cash.

The box office is located on the Yarm School site near the entrance to the car park.

Opening hours: Monday 12.30pm till 4.30pm

Tuesday to Friday 9am till 4pm (closed 11.30am till 12.30pm for lunch daily, closed weekends)

The event day Box Office will open 60 minutes before the time stated for each show (45 mins for Friarage Theatre) for ticket collections and purchases.

These are situated in the relevant foyer areas of each of our performance venues.

WHERE TO FIND US

The Princess Alexandra Auditorium and Friarage Theatre are located in the heart of Yarm, on the Yarm school site.

Postcode is TS15 9EJ - The school is located at the end of the high street.

PARKING

We have limited free on-site parking for up to 250 cars. If you are driving then please arrive early if you do intend to use the car park.

There is parking on the High Street in Yarm, which is free on an evening and is only a short walk away from the venue.

Accessible parking is available by speaking to the car park attendant when you arrive, we do not reserve spaces in advance.

Please note when the car park is full there will be no vehicular access but the pedestrian entrance will remain open.

The car park will close half an hour after the show has finished.
