Note from the Editor
How has that happened? Who stole 2017?? It’s gone by so quickly. Here we are in the festive season again already! I’d imagine lots of your greyhounds have entered into the winter with extra coats, blankets and snoozes. In fact I often think they would love to hibernate given the chance. We’ve already had a few walks where we got drenched to the bone, then hailed on. My two turned round and dragged me home! Our whippet Bella continues to get better to be left at home, in fact this year we have managed to go out for the evening on several occasions with no howling. Something which seemed so far away this time last year. I listened in on them last week for the first time in a while, and I was so pleased that I didn’t hear a single sound over the 45 minutes I was at the shops. It’s such a relief, as we’ve just had new neighbours move in, and didn’t want them to need to complain about the noise. Anyone who is struggling with separation anxiety, it can be worked through. Time and a lot of patience, along with excellent advice and support from Kathy Berner really helped us get through it. Now that Bella is over 2 she seems to have calmed down a lot, and really does like to curl up and sleep more and more.

Christmas day at Holkham beach last year
u
Jack and Bella will be enjoying Christmas with us in my home town up in Northumberland, so will have lots of long walks on the beach. I hope all your hounds have a fabulous Christmas, but please remember all the danger foods which could be around at this time. Anything with grapes (Christmas cake, mince pies etc), nuts, chocolate and turkey bones should be kept well away from dogs. Please seek vets advice immediately if they eat something they shouldn’t.
