The opening was the result of the great business development successes achieved by Anbar’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMe) that were aided by the services offered by BIC. Since February 2011, BIC has been providing much needed training, project start-up information services, and institutional linkage programs. In addition, BIC has been working to raise community awareness as to other types of business development services they offer, such as consultations, feasibility studies, informational business fairs, yellow page listings. It is hoped that these services will not only facilitate better project planning, but also more recognition for their global services offerings. Attendees stressed the importance of a business information center in Ramadi, which has suffered from a lack of modern business information. "We hope that the BIC will be an active core factor in supporting the private sector with all needed skills," said CoC head, Mr. Abdullsamad Sabti. “What we want in Ramadi is a different type of service. We really want to press the development button and allow the MSMe's think differently than before." The establishment and success of the BIC is the result of the ongoing partnership and support of the ILO and UNOPS under the Private Sector Development Program (PSDP-I) project. LER is working for private sector development in Iraq at both the national and governorate levels in three
