Cruising inspiration Discover the beautiful scenery and rich local heritage. The West Coast of Scotland is regarded as having some of the best sailing waters in the world, with the Firth of Clyde the most popular gateway to discovering Scotland by sea. The Clyde’s long lochs reach far into the Highlands and take sailors into Argyll and beyond, to remote outposts in the far north west. Our favourite cruising spots:
Hunters Tryst, Lamlash, Isle of Arran KA27 8LG
Isle of Arran Just 15 miles from Troon, and if you stick to an exact westerly course you’ll arrive at Lamlash. Visitor moorings are available and a warm welcome awaits ashore where you can enjoy a pleasant lunch looking out over the bay to Holy Isle. Just north of Lamlash is Brodick, which has lots to offer including hotels, restaurants and a golf course. Brodick Castle is well worth a visit, and has a wonderful new adventure playground. From Troon – 15 miles

Our Haven Team love being on the water as much as you and would love to share their knowledge if you’re planning to cruise the Clyde and beyond.
Loch Fyne With the safety of Tarbert harbour and Portavadie for mooring, the picturesque loch is flanked by large rolling hills. Tarbert may appear a sleepy and pretty fishing village, but it is also known for its famous food and drink culture. Plus, look out for Tarbet Castle illuminating the village at night. From Troon - 35 miles Isle of Bute Head north up the Clyde to Rothesay or Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute. Both have pontoon berths and a good selection of bars and restaurants ashore. From Troon – 25 miles
Campbeltown Loch Sail towards the south end of Arran, leaving the Island of Pladda to starboard and Ailsa Craig to port. You will experience some breathtaking scenery as you sail towards the Mull of Kintyre. Sail up Campbeltown Loch to the harbour and visit the superb Royal Hotel, which has been fully refurbished and prides itself on excellent food and service. From Troon – 38 miles Islands of Gigha and Jura If you have the luxury of taking a long trip, continue round the Mull of Kintyre to the beautiful island of Gigha and then north towards the Isle of Jura and Islay returning south through the Crinan Canal to Loch Fyne, sailing homewards via Tarbert. “ Scotland provides hauntingly beautiful cruising and fine food and drink. With modern marinas, wild anchorages and friendly fishing ports there is plenty to go round when you sail Scotland.” Sailing Today Magazine

Welcome to TransEurope Marinas
TransEurope benefits
Initially conceived to encourage reciprocal visits between a small number of English and French marinas, the affiliation was called Transmanche Marinas. However, after the association expanded into a multinational network of European yacht harbours, it was renamed TransEurope Marinas to better reflect the breadth of membership. The value of TransEurope Marinas now extends far beyond the simple offer of a discount and despite each of the member marinas being different, they share the common values of support, friendship and service. Such characteristics promote inter-marina co-operation and enhances the visitor experience. Jean-Michel Gaigné CMM Chairman
Member benefits The owners of vessels based in a TransEurope marina can enjoy a 50% visitors berthing discount for up to consecutive five days a year in each marina within the network, using their current TransEurope membership card.
50% off berthing at 74 prestigious marinas around Europe.
As an annual berth holder at Troon Yacht Haven you are automatically a member of the TransEurope Marina network. Quite simply, this means that you can enjoy 50% visitor berthing discount for up to five days per year at each member marina across Europe. - All berth holders at Troon receive free membership to TransEurope - Cruise amongst 74 yacht harbours based across 10 countries - 50% off visitor berthing fees for up to 5 days in each destination - Each marina offers an outstanding level of comfort and service - Choose from marinas in the UK, Greece, Italy, Spain, France and more

Fun for the family Troon Leisure Centre is just a short walk away from Troon Yacht Haven with a large swimming pool and gym. But for a real water thrill, the Magnum Centre in Irvine is Scotland’s biggest leisure centre with one of the greatest waterslides. The centre also has a range of sporting facilities and a cinema. Be a sport No trip to Ayrshire would be complete without a round of golf. With six golf courses on our doorstep including infamous Royal Troon Golf Club, we really are “Scotland’s Golfing Marina”. Dundonald Links, Turnberry, Western Gailles and Prestwick are just some of the dozens of courses all within easy reach of Troon.
A bit of history If you’re stuck for inspiration, one of Ayrshire’s stunning castles and ruins would be well worth a visit. Dundonald Castle is steeped in history and offers stunning views from its hilltop location. Undoubtedly one of the most popular castles in the county, Culzean is perched right on the coast and offers spectacular gardens and the castle itself to visit. Lovingly looked after by the National Trust for Scotland, it makes an excellent day out for the whole family. Or head to the Burns National Heritage Park to learn more about Scotland’s national poet and the Bachelors’ Club in Tarbolton to discover his 17th century equivalent of the modern day Man Cave.
Tip! Berth holders and visitors get preferential booking and discounted green fees at many of the nearby golf courses by booking through the marina.
