Palaces In contrast to the Towers, Palaces are inspired by baroque and rococo. It is dedicated to the physical form of man and his possessions. This world, filled with various tones of forestlike green, belongs to the Hunter and is filled with trophies. These trophies are primarily nonviolent, such as antlers made out of sticks or gloves. However, the animated owners of these antlers can prove to be a challenge for our hero. Among the Palace rooms, we can also find a gym where the local feathered friend tends to his physical fitness. Other rooms are full of collections, souvenirs, and travel mementos. Here we can find various small idols and even a full-sized pyramid. The musical soundscape of this world is largely inspired by Classical genres and prominently features pianos and string instruments. On the following pages, we can see the individual phases of digital painting and its postproduction.

Researcher and Janitor The frantic Researcher is always brainstorming ways to make life in the underground more pleasurable. Together with the Janitor, she fills the corridors with various gizmos and gadgets. The Janitor keeps his feet on the ground - he takes care of the house and his friends. You may notice how different he looks from the other characters; the first sketch of the Janitor was completed at the very beginning of development when we weren‘t sure whether our side characters would be birds or badgers. We liked him so much that we decided to put him into the game to liven up our Avian party.

All of the paintings you see within the game are digital renderings of physical oil paintings I painted by hand. For a long time, I have been enamored by the idea of giving life to paintings through digital medium. The future existence of the game itself is not the only creative motivator; I also saw it as an opportunity to analyze and innovate classical media for a modern context. I also found it interesting that this art style is rarely realized in video games, given its uniquely expressive nature. I studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and I see painting as a natural form of communication. In the game, I was able to realize my passions for storytelling and small details through my art. The real paintings‘ sizes are usually somewhere between 30 x 30 cm and 50 x 50 cm and they are painted on primed cardboard, which is better than canvas in this case due to the canvas being too prominently showing.
