UN PROGETTO AMBIZIOSO Factory4.Now è l’iniziativa di undici Aziende che si sono unite per dimostrare come, utilizzando le più avanzate tecnologie, sia possibile realizzare già ora la fabbrica del futuro. Una realtà che viene presentata creando e facendo funzionare tale fabbrica in un contesto aperto al pubblico.

Questo è già avvenuto a BIE2017 e viene ripetuto in MCE2018.

Il tema svolto è la realizzazione di una valvola a sfera, partendo dalla materia prima: una barra d’ottone; i concetti e molte delle tecnologie messe in campo sono utilizzati/utilizzabili per altre tipologie di prodotti.

Ad XPLAB il compito di realizzare il Supervisore Generale.

Con questo documento vogliamo raccontarvi la storia del progetto per come l’abbiamo vissuta.

AN AMBITIOUS PROJECT Factory4.Now is the initiative of eleven companies that have come together to demonstrate how, using the most advanced technologies, it is now possible to build the factory of the future. A reality that is presented by creating and operating this factory in a context open to the public. This has already happened at BIE2017 and is repeated in MCE2018.

The theme is the realization of a ball valve, starting from the raw material, a brass bar, but the concepts and many of the technologies used in the field are used / usable for other types of products.

To XPLAB the job of creating the Main Supervisor.

Through this document we want to tell you the story of this project from our point of view.

La FABBRICA in MANO E’ il risultato finale del processo di integrazione informatica della fabbrica.

Per Factory4.Now abbiamo realizzato un’App (per IOS e per Android) come esempio di quanto facciamo per i nostri Clienti.

In tempo reale vengono visualizzati stati e dati di produzione delle singole macchine. Nella pagina, in alto, viene riportata data ed ora del prossimo ciclo di produzione ed il tempo mancante.

The FACTORY in HAND It is the final result of the process of data integration of the factory.

For Factory4.Now we have created an App (for IOS and Android) as an example of what we do for our customers.

In real time, statuses and production data of the individual machines are displayed. On the top of the page, the date and time of the next production “run” and the missing time are shown.

4.0 ed Oltre Nel 1990 abbiamo realizzato XPOLYPLUS uno dei primi software SCADA (Supervisory, Control And Data Acquisition), possiamo quindi tranquillamente affermare che già da allora per noi le fabbriche dovevano essere 4.0.

Siamo quindi all’oltre, ovvero processori più potenti e meno costosi, memorie di massa con capacità sempre più grande e soprattuto connettività: intranet ed Internet.

Per sfruttare al meglio queste nuove possibilità abbiamo sviluppato nuovi linguaggi di programmazione e potenti piattaforme applicative.

Il progetto di Factory4.Now è stato realizzato grazie agli anni di sviluppo dedicati a questa ricerca.

4.0 and BEYOND In 1990 we developed XPOLYPLUS, one of the first SCADA (Supervisory, Control And Data Acquisition), since then for us the factories had to be 4.0.

We are therefore at the “beyond”, meaning higher-performance and cheaper processors, mass storages with always better volumes and, overall, connectivity: intranet and internet.

To make better use of this new opportunities we developed new programming languages and new applicative platforms.

The project of Factory4.Now has been build up thanks to years of research made in this perspective.

IL PROGETTO Scopo del nostro progetto è quello di dare un’idea concreta di come possa essere impostata una fabbrica 4.0. Logicamente molte possibilità sono solo accennate, ma visibili.

La cosa che deve risultare evidente è come una linea di produzione o un’intera fabbrica possano con facilità essere messe sotto supervisione.

L’Operatore del Centro di controllo ha una visione sintetica ed immediata dello stato degli impianti.

I dati di produzione e di processo vengono collezionati nel data base, per rapporti, analisi successive o in tempo reale ed eventualmente resi visibile via Web, App, o condivisi su piattaforme Cloud.

THE PROJECT The goal of our project is to give a concrete idea of how it could be set a 4.0 factory. Some possibilities are just lightly showed, but visible.

What has to be clear is how a production line, or a whole factory, could be easily monitored by a new generation of supervisors.

The operator of the control center has a synthetic and instant view of the facilities status.

The data of the production and of processes are saved on database in order to create reports, for subsequent or real time analysis, and eventually to make them available via web or APP or shared on cloud platforms.

ARCHITETTURA Hardware Per evitare di dover stendere un’ infrastruttura ethernet su cavo abbiamo optato per una connessione tra i vari elementi via Wi-Fi. Abbiamo quindi dotato tutte le macchine di un modulo industrial IoT che permette lo scambio dei dati tra il loro sistema di controllo ed il supervisore centrale.

Hardware DESIGN For the exhibition, to avoid a cable infrastructure we decided to create a Wi-Fi connection between the devices.

Every machine is equipped with an industrial IoT module that allows the exchange of data between their control system and the central supervisor.

MODULI industrial-IOT La funzione dei moduli non è limitata alla comunicazione, sono infatti dotati di un’elettronica che consente la rilevazione diretta da sensori la cui gamma è vastissima: accelerometri, sensori d’umidità, di pressione, di posizione ..

Si prestano pertanto a realizzazioni sia di automazione che di monitoraggio, indipendente o parallelo, rispetto a quelle di cui sono dotate le macchine e gli impianti.

Industrial-IOT MODULES The function of the modules is not limited to the communication task; they are equipped with an electronic that can be attached to a wide range of sensors: accelerometer, temperature, pressure, position.

Hence they can be used either in automation either in monitoring, independently or in parallel with the control systems of the machines.

ARCHITETTURA Software L’architettura software implementata, ricalca il concetto di elaborazione distribuita e cooperativa dell’hardware sottostante.

I moduli i-IoT forniscono anche un’interfaccia grafica estremamente espressiva, fruibile da varie utenze, in questo caso dai monitor del Centro di Controllo e dai Totem distribuiti vicino alle macchine.

Software DESIGN The software architecture implemented, follows the concept of a distributed and cooperative elaboration of the below hardware.

The IoT modules provide a graphical interface extremely expressive, available by many clients, in this case by the control center’s monitors and by the totems placed near the machines.

SOFTWARE : POWER-KI Tutte le applicazioni del progetto sono state scritte in linguaggio POWER-KI. POWER-KI a quanto ci risulta è il primo linguaggio di programmazione commerciale realizzato in Italia.

E’ il frutto del lavoro di ricerca e sviluppo di XPLAB che ad oggi dura da dodici anni.

Copre campi applicativi che vanno dall’IoT, all’automazione industriale, ai sistemi di gestione, al Web.

SOFTWARE: POWER-KI All the project’s applications are written in POWER-KI language.

POWER-KI as far as we know is the first commercial programming language developed in Italy.

It’s the result of twelve years of research and development of XPLAB. It covers many applicational areas such as industrial automation, IoT, management systems, Web.

SOFTWARE: PowerBerry PowerBerry è il “porting" di POWER-KI su Windows 10 IoT di Microsoft, é quindi possibile sviluppare applicazioni per diversi tipi di schede: Raspberry PI, MinNowBoard, DragonBoard ecc.

I moduli IoT della Fabbrica hanno installato su questo sistema operativo, PowerBerry, PBM (PowerBerry Manager) e l’applicazione sviluppata per la Macchina a cui si collegano.

SOFTWARE: PowerBerry PowerBerry is the POWER-KI’s “porting” on Windows 10 IoT of Microsoft, therefore is possible to develop application for different type of IoT boards: Raspberry PI, MinNowBoard, DragonBoard ecc.

The IoT modules of the Factory have installed on this Operating System, PowerBerry, PBM (PowerBerry Manger) and the application developed for the Machine to which they are connected.

SVILUPPO degli Applicativi Anche se la supervisione di Factory4.Now è un sistema su scala ridotta, rimane complesso da realizzare; a questo si aggiunga il poco tempo a disposizione …

Per fortuna gli strumenti a disposizione sono potenti: POWER-KI è potente, PowerBerry è potente, l’ecosistema di supporto .. pure.

Oltre agli strumenti del WorkBench di POWER-KI per il test ed in debug, abbiamo infatti potuto contare su PWK-Inspector, che ci consente il debug e la modifica “a caldo”, e sui simulatori (PWK) con i quali abbiamo emulato le apparecchiature delle macchine.

APPLICATION’s DEVELOPMENT Even if Factory4.Now Supervisor it’s on small scale, it is still complex to be implemented; in addition to this, the short time available…

Luckily the tools are powerful: POWER-KI is powerful, PowerBerry is powerful and the supporting ecosystem of applications too.

In addition to the test and debug tools of POWER-KI’s WorkBench, we could rely on PWK-Inspector which enable the live debug and modifications of source code, and on (PWK) simulators, with which we have emulated the machine equipments.

INTERFACCE Utente : elementi Per ogni Macchina, e sono otto, abbiamo realizzato un’interfaccia utente specifica, selezionando le informazioni da presentare all’Operatore del Centro di Controllo e definito l’aspetto della rappresentazione, in molti casi del tutto originale, in modo che fosse chiaro, sintetico ed espressivo.

User INTERFACES: elements For each of the eight machines we have developed a specific user interface, choosing the data displayed to the Operator of the main Supervisor and defining the look of the representation, in many cases in an original new way, so that it was clear, synthetic and expressive.

INTERFACCE Utente : sinottici I sinottici sono in 3D ed i loro elementi si animano sulla base dei segnali che provengono dalla macchina.

Con una rappresentazione di questo tipo è possibile capire cosa la macchina sta facendo anche se gli organi interni sono invisibili in quanto coperti dalle protezioni oppure si è lontani.

La funzione del sinottico è duplice: segnala all’operatore in modo immediato lo stato dell’impianto e permette all’operatore di capire cosa il supervisore vede dell’impianto.

User INTERFACES: synoptics The synoptics are in 3D and their components are moved by signals sourced by the machine.

With that kind of representation it’s possible to understand the status of the machine even if the their components are not visible cause they are covered or too far to be seen.

The synoptic function is dual: it indicates to the operator the live status of the facility and, on the other and, allows him to know what is the view of the overall supervisor.

Since that the public of the exhibition is not only constituted by specialized technicians with this kind of representation is given to all the opportunity to understand how is working what they are looking at.

XAILS : il web Per realizzare il sito www.Factory4now.it ci siamo avvalsi di XAILS, la piattaforma per la gestione dei contenuti (CMS) che abbiamo realizzato con POWER-KI. Non si tratta del solito CMS basato su Web-Server, ma di una vera applicazione su server Cloud.

Questa soluzione oltre che fornire le più elevate prestazioni, consente la realizzazione di applicazioni web, per eCommerce, informazione, industria, servizi, fuori dalla portata dei comuni strumenti web.

XAILS: the Web To create the website www.Factory4Now.it we used XAILS, the platform for the content management (CMS) developed in POWER-KI language.

It’s not the usual CMS based on the Web-Server, but it’s a real application on a Cloud server.

This solution in addition of giving higher performance, allows the development of web applications, for e-commerce, informations services, industry, IoT, beyond the reach of common web tools.

www.Factory4Now.it Il sito della F4N è stato progettato per fornire un supporto alle attività di comunicazione del gruppo dei Partner del progetto e, sfruttando le caratteristiche di XAILS, gestire il flusso di dati tra moduli IoT e le App per smartPhone.

Dalla sezione Progetto è possibile visionare una “progressione informativa” che illustra tutte le fasi della lavorazione.

www.Factory4Now.it The website of the exhibition has been designed to provide support to the communication activities of the project’s Partner and, using the XAILS features, manage the data flow from IoT devices and smartPhone app.

From the Project section is possible to view an “information progression” that explains each stage of manufacture.

ALLESTIMENTO Per realizzare la struttura del Centro di Controllo ci siamo ispirati allo scheletro del riccio di mare.

Una struttura affascinante che sembra provenire da un’altro mondo.

Una piccola astronave, con tutti quei piccoli oblò che filtrano la luce.

Una curiosità: cercate di trovare i computer, ce ne sono dieci, ma se siamo stati bravi non li vedrete.

SetUp To design the structure of the Control Center we inspired to the sea urchin’s skeleton.

A fascinating structure that seems to came from another world. A little spaceship with all this portholes that filter light.

A curiosity: try to find the computers, there are ten, but if we have been good enough you wont see them.

4.0 Check List Controllo per mezzo di CNC (Computer Numerical Control) e/o PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).
