TTCRC (Tata Medical Center) Last Date of Application: 30/11/2020 Appointing Organisation Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre Tata Medical Center, Kolkata The Tata Medical Center and the Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre The Tata Medical Center (TMC) is a multispecialty institution for tertiary cancer care. At TMC, clinical and research activities are integrated to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with cancer. This integration is enabled by the Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre (TTCRC), the research arm of TMC. At TTCRC, a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, academics and industry professionals collaborate to develop a systems medicine approach in cancer research. This approach is focussed on developing innovative, indigenous, cost-effective and equitable strategies to improve cancer diagnosis; develop treatments that match disease characteristics and are tailored to treatment response; and, identify prognostic and predictive disease biomarkers. These strategies are multi-dimensional and involve an iterative pathway that include clinical trials, high-throughput laboratory investigations, computational strategies to integrate, analyse and model data, hypothesis-based pre-clinical studies and evidence-based translation of findings to clinical practice. For additional information on work at TTCRC, visit <https://ttcrc.org/> The Clinical Research Unit at TTCRC TTCRC has a dedicated Clinical Research Unit (CRU), led by the Unit’s Manager and a team of investigators, data managers and specialists in trial databases, data handling and clinical informatics. The CRU coordinates multicentre national academic clinical studies in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), including a randomised clinical trial in first presentation ALL (ICiCLe-ALL-14, funded by the National Cancer Grid and earlier by ICMR) and a clinical study for standardised management of relapsed ALL. Working with the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), TTCRC has developed a web-based system for data management of the multicentre clinical studies, equipped with features that enable secure remote data capture, concealed randomisation, recording of study events and outcomes and basic decision support capabilities. The CRU also coordinates a multidisciplinary institutional translational research programme in gallbladder cancer, a rare cancer with high incidence and poor outcome in the eastern Indian subcontinent. The CRU serves as the focal point for hypothesis-driven research studies at TTCRC and is thus at the heart of TTCRC’s research operations.
