Our Mission

The mission of W. W. Gay is to provide the best service, at the best value, with the best people

A Message From Our CEO

Dear W. W. Gay Family,

As we continue to move forward together, I want to take a moment to reflect on something that is essential to both our personal and professional lives—striving to be the best version of ourselves.

I recently came across a speech by former football coach Nick Saban, and his words really resonated with me. He reminded us that the human condition is often to settle for being average, to do just enough to get by. And while being average is normal, there’s nothing extraordinary about it. What makes a difference, what sets people apart, is the drive to be more than average—the desire to push beyond what’s comfortable and truly become the best you can be.

Here at W.W. Gay, I see that drive in so many of you. Whether you’re out in the field, in the office, or anywhere in between, I see people putting in the effort, working hard, and showing up for one another. It’s inspiring. When someone gives their all, it’s special. You can’t help but notice it—and it elevates everyone around them.

Nick Saban also talked about how the “special ones” among us understand what it means to put in the work, to earn what they achieve. They know that success doesn’t come easy, and it doesn’t come overnight. It’s something you earn with hard work, dedication, and a strong work ethic. That’s a principle we live by here—what we reap is directly tied to what we sow.

“What makes a difference, what sets people apart, is the drive to be more then average”

As we continue to take on new challenges and grow as a team, let’s all commit to being the best version of ourselves. Let’s continue to set the bar high, support one another, and put in the effort it takes to reach new heights.

Together, we’re building something extraordinary.

Thank you for always being the Best in the Business!

Accounting Update

Hello Team,

I’m excited to announce that the company-wide distribution of our new credit cards is almost complete! Thank you to everyone who has already picked up and activated their cards. If you haven’t yet received or activated your card, please contact your supervisor or email us at creditcard@wwgmc.com. It’s important to do this as soon as possible, as the PNC cards will be deactivated shortly.

A Few Key Reminders:

Online Card Activity: All credit card activity is now managed online. This includes submitting non-fuel receipts with job numbers and cost codes in a timely manner.

New Approver Role: As previously mentioned, we’re introducing a new “approver” role. If you have access to more than just fuel purchases, an approver will be assigned to help monitor for any fraudulent or duplicate charges. This will not limit your purchasing ability but adds an extra layer of security.

User Agreement: All cardholders should have received a DocuSign email to sign the updated Credit Card User Agreement. If you haven’t signed it yet, please do so as soon as possible. If you haven’t received it, contact us at creditcard@wwgmc.com.

PNC Receipts: Any non-fuel receipts for the old PNC card should be submitted to Accounting or sent to creditcard@wwgmc. com.

Training Materials:

To help you navigate the new process, we’ve included training materials below:

For any further questions, you can always reach out to the Wells Fargo Help Desk at 800-932-0036 or email creditcard@wwgmc.com.

Thank you for your attention to these important updates!

All the Best,

Forging Ahead - The Next 5 Years

Hi Team,

As part of our 5-year strategic plan to expand our geographical footprint with five new office locations in the Southeast, I’m excited to share an update on our progress in Georgia. We have recently signed a lease on a building located in the Richmond Hill area, just outside of Savannah. This new office, with its prime access to major highways, positions us perfectly to serve key regions across the state. This milestone marks a significant step towards continuing our growth across the Southeast.

Our team is already supporting Savannah Memorial Hospital with daily preventative maintenance and service, and we’re actively working to establish new service contracts with Southeastern Health Hospital in Brunswick, an old customer we’re excited to work with again.

To support this growth, we’ve added five new employees from the Georgia area, with two additional team members from Jacksonville stepping in to provide service support. The Savannah office will be our hub for expanding into southeastern and eastern Georgia, allowing us to reach cities like Valdosta, Waycross, Brunswick, and everything in between.

Now that the office is secured, our Marketing team will focus on establishing our brand in the area, including branding the building with signage to create a welcoming space for both employees and clients. Our long-term goal is to build a strong, dynamic team at this location that will enable us to extend W.W. Gay’s services throughout Georgia and reinforce our legacy of excellence.

I look forward to sharing more updates with you as we approach the end of the year!

Cheers to success,

In The Know

Supporting the Next Generation

Kudos to our Jacksonville team! They recently participated in a Clay Shoot with the ACE Mentor Program of Northeast Florida, empowering high school students to explore careers in the AEC industry.

Through a fun-filled afternoon, they raised funds for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. We’re proud to announce that our team placed in the top three! Way to go!

Showing Off

Our healthcare department recently attended the FPC Expo in Orlando, Florida. This statewide annual conference has had a long and successful history of helping to improve the design and construction of healthcare facilities in Florida. The team was excited to learn about the expanding role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare design, construction, planning, and medical research.

Barkin’ Up A Good Time

Our Jacksonville team enjoyed heartwarming afternoons visiting the North Florida School of Special Education (NFSSE) this month. This school empowers students aged 6 to 22 with intellectual and developmental differences, offering them a nurturing environment where they can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential through innovative academic and therapeutic programs.

During our visit, our volunteers contributed to the Barkin’ Biscuits initiative, an all-natural dog treat baking operation that provides vocational training for Transition Students, Postgraduates, and young adults with intellectual and developmental differences in the community. It was a fulfilling experience to support such a meaningful program!

Making Dreams Come True

The W.W. Gay family had a blast at the Dreams Come True 5K!

Leading up to the race, our Jacksonville team passionately raised funds to help make a dream come true for a local dreamer. Currently, more than 500 children in Northeast Florida battling life-threatening medical conditions are dreaming of the perfect dream. Thanks to our employee’s incredible support and teamwork, we raised over $6,000 for Dreams Come True and W.W. Gay will proudly serve as a Dream Sponsor for a special child!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this final effort. Stay tuned for our dreamer pairing as we celebrate and bring joy to this amazing child, helping to create the magical experiences that every child deserves instead of hospital stays and doctor visits.

Staff Shout - Out

Allien Tellechea

We are thrilled to welcome back Allien Tellechea as our Area Superintendent for Port Orange! Allien’s journey has been one of resilience, passion, and a deep commitment to our W. W. Gay family.

Originally from Cuba, Allien moved to the United States in 2015, eager to create opportunities for his loved ones. With a Bachelor’s degree in economics, he began his career in Florida as a Lift Mechanic before joining W. W. Gay in 2020 as a Foreman. After gaining valuable experience as a Superintendent for a general contractor in Miami, he returned to Orlando just a few months ago, ready to rejoin the W. W. Gay family.

Allien’s love for construction and the supportive culture at W. W. Gay shines through in his approach to leadership. He embodies the kind of superintendent he would want overseeing his own projects, managing multiple job sites and ensuring every detail is handled with care. His focus on collaboration and teamwork is vital, as he believes that fostering strong relationships within the crew is key to our success.

“I fell in love with the trades and this company,” Allien says. “Nobody treats you like family like W. W. Gay does. They genuinely care about their people.”

Outside of work, Allien is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his young daughter. He loves playing dominos with friends around his pool and is a passionate football fan with his favorite team being the Kansas City Chiefs!

We are excited to have Allien back on board, bringing his expertise, warmth, and cultural perspective to our team. Welcome back, Allien! Your dedication and spirit will undoubtedly make a positive impact at W. W. Gay.

Amy Munson

We’re delighted to welcome Amy, our new friendly face in the Jacksonville office lobby.

Amy recently joined us, thanks to her aunt, Melissa Clay, our office manager, who informed her about the opening. Fresh out of high school with a background in customer service from Smoothie King, Amy was eager to embark on her new role.

In her position, Amy handles answering calls, sorting mail, and providing a warm welcome to everyone who visits our office. Her passion for customer service and cheerful demeanor make her a delightful addition to our team.

Amy’s goal at W. W. Gay is to bring fun and creativity into the workplace. She aspires to be a warm and approachable presence, spreading kindness throughout the office. Her favorite tasks are sorting mail and assisting with organizational duties, such as managing I-9 forms with HR. Her meticulous attention to detail and love for organization are evident in her work.

Amy enjoys cooking and baking, showcasing her class skills by making delicious dishes. She lives on a farm with her mom, who is also her best friend, and spends much of her free time caring for their numerous farm animals.

We’re thrilled to have Amy on our team and are excited about the positive energy she brings to the office!

Preconstruction Updates

We are excited to announce a significant shift in our company’s Estimating and Preconstruction structure designed to enhance our service across all office locations.

To streamline our estimating processes, we are centralizing the estimating function with a dedicated team that will support both existing and future offices. Reid Shore will be transitioning into a new role as Estimating Manager, focusing exclusively on internal operations within this centralized team.

In light of Reid’s new role, Chase Roberts will be taking on increased responsibilities. Team members who previously reached out to Reid for pricing should now direct their requests to Chase.

Additionally, to better reflect their roles, Jake Whitener from the Orlando office, Charlie Crosier from the Gainesville office, and Chase Roberts from the Jacksonville office will be officially retitled as Preconstruction Managers. These managers will be instrumental in handling requests and coordinating with the Estimating Team, as well as engaging with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and Business Unit Leaders.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact Matt Furlong.

We appreciate your support and cooperation as we make these transitions to improve our operations and service delivery.

Emily Andrews Jacksonville,

FL

One of Emily’s greatest passions is traveling, and at the top of her bucket list is visiting all 50 states before she turns 50.

This year, Emily has been fortunate enough to check off four new states: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Wisconsin. This brings her total to 38 states with 12 left to go! Earlier in the year, her and her husband Dylan ran a half marathon in Oklahoma City, stopping in Little Rock, Arkansas along the way to tick off another state. During their trip out west, they passed through Cheyenne, Wyoming to visit where her grandfather was stationed in the Air Force. Earlier in September, she flew to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see one of her favorite artists, Mat Kearney, in concert. She is now hoping to cap off the year by watching UCF play in West Virginia this November—knocking one more state off the list for 2024!

Congrats Emily, we can’t wait to see future updates on your last 12!

Issac Bowser Employee Spotlight

Orlando

Out of our Orlando office, Issac Bowser is a dedicated Project Foreman, bringing over three years of expertise and enthusiasm to his role. His journey into the plumbing and pipefitting industry began with a welding class in college, which ignited his interest in the field. He pursued a plumbers and pipefitters apprenticeship, steadily rising to his current role as Project Foreman.

Currently, Issac oversees plumbing operations at the Winter Park Advent Health Cancer Treatment Center. His responsibilities are multifaceted, encompassing safety paperwork, project planning, and fostering communication among his team. His handson approach allows him to engage directly with both his work and his colleagues, which he finds particularly rewarding.

Throughout his tenure at W.W. Gay, Issac has learned invaluable lessons about planning, teamwork, and effective communication. He appreciates the growth opportunities available within the company, supported by mentorship from experienced leaders like Jimmy Elliot. Eager to expand his skill set, Issac furthered his education by earning a construction supervision degree from Washtenaw Community College after completing his apprenticeship, and he remains committed to lifelong learning of the trade.

One of Issac’s most memorable projects was at the Gaylord Palm Resort, where he worked on waste and water piping alongside the kitchen staff. This experience was significant as it marked the first time he took on a project independently after graduating from his apprenticeship. Despite the challenges he faced, it was a valuable opportunity that reinforced his skills and confidence.

“Throughout his tenure at W.W. Gay, Issac has learned invaluable lessons about planning, teamwork, and effective communication.”

Outside of work, Issac enjoys spending quality time with his family, exploring parks, shopping, and thrifting in the vibrant Orlando area.

Safety Corner

FROM YOUR DIRECTOR OF SAFETY

As autumn arrives, it brings beautiful changes and some seasonal challenges. The cooler weather provides relief, but it also brings risks like severe storms and shorter days that can impact our safety at work and on the road.

With that in mind, now is a good time for us at W.W. Gay to reevaluate our safety practices and remind our workers to be vigilant about the hazards they may encounter during this season.

Flu Prevention. We encourage all employees to get a flu shot at their local pharmacy or doctor’s office.

Practice ladder safety. Whether you are at the job site or cleaning gutters at home, always maintain three points of contact and choose the right ladder for the job.

Prevent slips and falls. Keep walkways clear of leaves, which can become slick when it rains.

Vehicle Preparation: Check wiper blades, tires, and restock emergency kits for winter readiness.

Road Hazards: Be alert for rain, fog, fallen leaves, and deer crossings this time of year.

Make time for mental health. The holidays can be a difficult time for many people. We should be on the lookout for signs of mental illness and, if employees need support, point them to the appropriate resources.

Improve indoor air quality. Simple steps everyone can take include staying home if you are sick, following the company’s smoking policy locations, and notifying your supervisor if you suspect an indoor air quality issue.

Fire Prevention. With the Fall there is a high likelihood of fires. Candles, heaters, over- burdened electrical outlets, and spark from outdoor equipment are among common causes of fires. Inspect equipment such as chain saws and trimmers, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers. A small amount of effort now will ensure these are in good working order. Reminder: No space heaters or burning candles are allowed in the office.

Let’s prioritize safety and take time to enjoy the season with friends and family. Remember, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3rd—set your clocks back one hour!

Reminder: What to do in case of Accident or Injury

Here are a few reminders to follow in accordance with WWGMC Safety Program:

Employees: All employees will inform their supervisor IMMEDIATELY of any injury, no matter how slight. Failure to report an injury immediately can lead to delays and possibly needed medical treatment and prolong the healing process. If injured, employees must let their supervisor know the following:

1. How did the injury occur?

2. What were they doing at the time?

3. When and where did the injury occur?

4. Who were they working with at the time of the accident?

5. Any other information, such as witness name, to aid the investigation of the accident.

Any employee who fails to report an injury the day it occurred may be subject to disciplinary action. A drug test is mandatory within four (4) hours of any injury.

Supervisors: If a jobsite accident or injury occurs involving a W. W. Gay employee, his/her supervisor will:

1. Take care of the victim(s) FIRST.

2. Immediately call your Safety Specialist then complete and sign a “First Report of Injury or Illness” form and email it to Shelly Arnold, Safety Admin at sharnold@wwgmc.com or bring it to your W. W. Gay Office within 24 hours of the Injury or Accident. The “First Report of Injury or Illness” form is mandatory, even if medical treatment is not required. W. W. Gay Supervisors will complete this form ANY TIME a Company employee reports an injury to them.

Remember: If you are involved in a traffic accident while driving a W.W. Gay vehicle, you are to call 911, if possible, file a report, and obtain the names/contact numbers of any witnesses along with photos of front, rear, sides of all vehicles, including tags, and statement of driver/passenger. A copy of the police information must be sent to the W.W. Gay Jacksonville Safety Office (sharnold@wwgmc.com) as soon as possible. Call Don O’Neal at (904) 252-4920 or Steve Ray at (904) 874-9364. Drug Tests are mandatory within four (4) hours after any vehicular or jobsite incident.

Near Miss Incidents: In the event of a Near Miss, the W. W. Gay supervisor will fill out a W.W. Gay Near Miss Incident Report and notify the Safety Office right away.

Remember the Safety Department is available to all employees. If you have any questions or safety-related concerns, please reach out.

Thank you and stay well,

Gainesville
