Dear W. W. Gay Family,
Pastor & author Rick Warren says:
“The greatest enemy of tomorrow’s success is today’s success”. 2021 was a tremendous year for us that brought many things. We saw one of the largest revenue years in company history. That achievement would not have been possible without our hardworking men and women who helped us record the most man-hours of any previous year. Simply put, it was a successful and big year companywide. While all that success is something to be extremely proud of, we cannot let today’s success allow us to become complacent.
I’ve always said that there is something so magical about January 1. Yes, it’s a time when people make resolutions and begin to work towards their goals. For me, though, I see opportunity and endless possibilities. A new year gives us the chance to find ways to improve both personally and professionally. In any aspect of your life, it’s important to look back so you know how far you’ve come, but you must remember to not focus on what is in that rear view mirror. Each and every one of us must continue to push forward, set our sights on what is next and be better than we were yesterday.
An important question we should all be asking ourselves is this: “What can we do this year that we didn’t do last?” Whatever your answer may be, take responsibility of the growth needed to achieve it. Don’t wish for it, work for it!
“
The greatest enemy of tomorrow’s success is today’s success.”
2022 is already looking bright and we have much to look forward to. Our company will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this September. Wow! It’s huge milestones like this one that make me so grateful for the foundation that was set for us decades ago. What do the next 60 years look like? I know they will entail many things, but my hope is for two specific things: continuing to build upon that firm foundation and our team growing stronger than it ever has been.
Yes, there are sure to be challenges ahead but we must take the same stance as the former United States Army General, George S. Patton. When speaking about his troops, General Patton said, “I never want to hear that we are holding our position. We are advancing constantly. Always take the offensive, never dig in”.
This is our opportunity to be greater than we ever have been. Let’s advance together and never dig in.
Thank you for always being the best in the business!

Congratulations to Michael Farr as he moves into a Lead Foreman position.
Michael Farr began his career in 2011 as a Pre-Apprentice where he worked for two years before getting accepted into the apprenticeship program. While going through the program, Michael spent much of his time gaining invaluable experience from Larry O’Neal and Tim Conner. During his 5th year, Michael earned the lead man roll and worked on jobsites including the 5th floor buildout and new ER expansion at Memorial Hospital, which then led him to Baptist Oak Leaf Free Standing Hospital. From there, Michael took on a Field Foreman roll at St. Vincent’s Riverside for their Heart Tower in 2018. After that job finished up, Michael stepped up as General Foreman for the new 8-story Baptist NICU Tower, working handin-hand with Joey Bouchard.
Michael can’t express his gratefulness enough to all his union brothers and sisters who have helped him get to where he is today. When asked about the future, he says “I can’t wait to see where the next project takes me, so I can keep learning and teaching our fellow union brothers and sisters to be the Best in The Business.”
Congratulations to Joey Bouchard as he moves into a General Superintendent role.
Joey Bouchard joined Local 234 in August 2000 and worked for a small contractor as an apprentice before his journey brought him to W. W. Gay in early 2003. After turning out of the program as a plumber, Joey worked his way through numerous jobs in lead rolls and in 2008, was given the opportunity to run his first project. During that time, Joey was exposed to Trimble layout and pneumatic transport systems, which were all new experiences for him. Joey has always had the goal of being a leader and in 2017 he landed his very first project in healthcare at St. Vincent’s Heart Tower.
Joey appreciates the family environment that Mr. Gay built over the years and is grateful to see that continuing. He enjoys pursuing what he does and is a firm believer that we are the “Best in the Business”. Joey says, “I work alongside of some of the best men and women in the trade who have helped guide and build me to be the person I am today!”
Congratulations to Kaine Bennett for being a great team player! He has led a tremble layout team, fulfilled a vacant foreman spot at Baptist Clay, and has transitioned to VDC (virtual design construction).
Kaine started in 1996 and like most of us, had family in the business. Following in his father, Ronnie “Bull” Bennett’s footsteps, Kaine has been with W. W. Gay for almost 26 years now. In that time, he has continued to grow admiration for the company and its family atmosphere. When asked why he stays, Kaine says, “During my time here, so many of our employees have become like family and close friends”.
He is currently overseeing the 2nd floor of the Baptist Fleming Island job as well as being the lead field engineer for robotic layout and laser scanning. Kaine only sees growth from here and we are grateful to have him!
We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Kevin Williams to Service Manager in our Gainesville office. Kevin began his career with W. W. Gay in 2014 as a Service Technician for the HVAC Department, focusing solely on start-up. As a technician, Kevin had the opportunity to manage small projects and work directly with Project Managers, essentially grooming him for the role of HVAC Manager, a position he would then take on after seven years.
Now heading up the entire Service Department, Kevin’s extensive experience across all areas of the business has more than prepared him for this new role. The Service Department consists of many different divisions including Plumbing Service, HVAC, Test & Balance, and Controls. Kevin’s vision for the department is to continue growing relationships with existing customers and adding value to all members of his team.
Congratulations Kevin!
Dalton StenbeckCongratulations to Dalton Stanback as he moves from Supervisory Foreman to General Superintendent.
A big shout out to Steven Jimenez for leading a successful “Toys for Tots” drive this past December. His efforts made it possible for over 100+ families with children to receive Christmas presents. This is certainly the perfect example of the true meaning of Christmas!
A special thank you to everyone who donated in the Jacksonville office. None of that joy would have been possible if it weren’t for you and your giving hearts.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, team members from the Gainesville office surprised families at the Ronald McDonald House of North Central Florida with Valentine’s goodie bags.
We know those special treats brought a smile to their faces! Great job team!
A group from the Jacksonville office braved the cold and wind on Saturday, January 29 to show their support for Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Northeast Florida’s only full-service children’s hospital. The 13th Annual Wolfson Children’s Challenge took place at the home baseball stadium of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and featured a 55k Relay, 30k Run or 1-Mile Fun Run. While W. W. Gay was a large sponsor for the event, a team of 9 employees also participated in the 55k relay and had a blast. Out of the 75 teams registered for the relay, our team placed 19th overall!
Funding for the event helps support the Wolfson Children’s Challenge Endowment with a portion of the funds going towards a new MIBG Suite. This new room, the first of its kind in Florida, gives Wolfson Children’s the ability to offer the newest upfront treatment for children with neuroblastoma, the most common solid tumor of childhood cancer.
Happy to show support for a place that’s near and dear to W. W. Gay’s hearts! Great job team!
Like so many of our employees, W. W. Gay was part of our February’s Employee Spotlight’s story growing up. Based out of our Gainesville office, Joe McCaffrey came to us by way of his uncle nearly 12 years ago. His uncle was a pipefitter until he retired from the company some years ago, so Joe was more than familiar with the ins and outs. Once he graduated high school, Joe went straight into the apprenticeship program and in 2009, began working for W. W. Gay in Jacksonville. He spent most of his oneyear stent there putting in long hours at the Pipe Fab Shop. Joe has always been amazed by welding and pipe fitting, so his time spent in the shop was the perfect placement for him.
However, when an opening became available in the Gainesville office, Joe jumped at the opportunity to be much closer to home. For the last four years, Joe has been working as a foreman and has seen many different jobs including hospitals and labs. He enjoys these sites as they are in-depth, require more detail and specialty piping.
Joe grew up on Lake George in Astor, Florida where he spent most of his time out on the water. As a kid he and his family loved to adventure to Silver Glen, Jupiter, or Salt Springs to enjoy the outdoors. While his family still lives near Astor, Joe moved to Fort McCoy about 6 years ago and still resides there but now with his wife and their 8-month-old daughter Laney.
“The trade comes natural to me and I love that I get to be surrounded by good friends in an even better environment”
Pipeline 16
Joe and his wife Paige have “known each other forever” as they both grew up in the same small town but will celebrate 3 years as a married couple this March. The family of three would call themselves homebodies but Joe does love introducing Laney to the places of his childhood. With any available free time, you’ll find Joe out on the boat, specifically at Steinhatchee, his favorite place to venture off to. He and his brother also share a passion of building with metal, so the two will frequently get together to see what they can create as side projects.
Even though Joe has been working long hours for many months, sometimes with only one day off, he really does enjoy his job. “The trade comes natural to me and I love that I get to be surrounded by good friends in an even better environment,” says Joe.
Thanks for your continued hard work, Joe!

Hard to believe another year has come and gone! 2021 was certainly another challenging year for everyone, especially when you factor in the amount of work we were all up against. However, a new year is here, and the Safety Department is looking forward to what 2022 will bring.
My team and I have spent the better part of this month reflecting on success from the previous year, as well as how we can improve moving forward. Part of our success was placing safety as a top priority in every project. From the smallest to the largest jobs, our personnel remained alert identifying hazards and taking action to eliminate the risk. Additionally, training was given to maintain qualifications or to become qualified on requirements for new projects.
With as many hours that were worked last year, I’m truly proud of our personnel. Going into this new year, a goal of mine is to see continued employee participation at all levels. Please know that your suggestions are appreciated and given serious consideration.
We say it all the time, but you are truly the Best in The Business!
Stay safe,
Steve Ray Director of Safety Safety Sense“Workplace Stress”
• Ask for help if you are feeling overwhelmed by the work. Look out for your co-workers.
• If someone is showing signs of stress, if possible, offer to help.
• Tell you Supervisor or your Shop Steward if you feel the schedule is creating pressure that is affecting your work and health.
• Reduce job stress by taking good care of yourself.
• Exercise regularly. Exercise is a powerful stress reliever.
• Make sure you see a doctor if you notice any of the following: Frequent headaches, inability to sleep, difficulty concentrating, upset stomach, short temper.
Wow that was fast, hello 2022! Everyone is working hard at closing current projects, starting new ones, setting goals for the new year, and much more. Last year was an amazing year, we saw great changes in our company that has elevated us to a new level. We have faced many challenges in our industry, as well as our country, and we are still the best in the business because of one reason: YOU! We have the best group of people any company could have, and we do it while all working together. As we look back over the year we have had, I challenge you to reflect on not only the success we have had but also the failures. We need to learn from our mistakes, fix them, and move on to more championships.
What got us here will not get us there. We must teach, coach, and mentor one another to continue the legacy we have all worked so hard to build. So I ask you, who are you training? Who is training you? Where does your next step take us? What books are you reading? How does your growth help all of us? We are all in this together and together we must remain. No one will ever surpass us if we all work together. Thank you for all you do and here’s to another great year.
#One Team, One Mission
Chris Stalnaker Vice President, Gainesville Director of OperationsRecently the W. W. Gay & FMS Crane Division Teams worked together to successfully place major equipment at the Central Energy Plant to serve the New Baptist Clay Hospital currently under construction. The new Hospital Tower will be an extension of the existing Freestanding Emergency Department and Surgery Center serving the Clay County Community and is scheduled for completion December 2022.
The equipment placed at the CEP includes the following:
3 – 750 Ton Cooling Capacity Centrifugal Chillers
3 – 1875 GPM Cooling Towers
4 – 6000 MBH Dual Fuel Boilers
2 – 25,000 Gallon Fuel Oil Tanks
Associated pumps, water softeners, piping packages and accessories.
The team also partnered with Miller Electric to set (2) 1500 Kw Emergency Generators on the second floor of the plant. They are currently tracking to start systems at the plant in early April and are excited to reach this major project milestone.
The Orlando office has been working on a long-term project since March of 2020 with Micross Components. Due to field-engineered client relationships, this project was given to us based upon our work completed during the tenant build-out phase for Ironrock Construction.
This project features installation of process piping, exhaust systems, and tool connections for use in production of microelectronic components within multiple clean room environments. These relationships have led to additional scope throughout the project with Micross and the other tenant on the premises, Qorvo.
A big shout out to the key personnel on this job: Steve Haupt (Foreman), Caesar Gomez (Foreman), Jeremy Stout (Superintendent), Jimmy Poff (Superintendent) and Laura Jones (Project Manager).
