SKATERS SKATERS SKATERS
by Sophie Carroll
The skate park in Min Ryan park is a place where lots of people go to skate and to just chill out and have fun with friends. I would personally recommend giving it a try, I got into skating after I was casually watching some youtuber and came across a skateboarding video So of course, I clicked on it and got into it And after walking past skateboarders IRL, I also wanted to do skateboarding so, yeah.

My board is like any other skateboard, but at the bottom there is a chequered pattern and some random stickers. It was difficult at first when I did get my first skateboard, but after a little while I developed pretty good balance. I took a break from skateboarding at the age of 10 all the way up to the age of 14 That’s when I got back into it I am still learning but it is really fun
Now I’m going to interview some other people I know who also do skateboarding.
Hi Abigail Kehoe!
When did you first start skateboarding? “2019 I think, I was 9. The first time I’ve seen someone skate was at the skateboarding competition on the quay ”
What do you like about it? “it’s fun ”
Can you describe your board? “Loads of stickers on it, scratched up and starting to peel.”
Is there anything else you would like to say? “People should get more interested in it, it’s really cool. An interesting fact, my bulldog used to be able to skate, I trained him, he was great but we haven’t been doing it lately. There are loads of bulldogs that can skate. Look up bulldogs skateboarding on youtube!!”
Hi Cheyenne Sinnott!

What does Wexford skatepark mean to you?
“A place you go and have fun and you can skateboard safely and smoothly. There are loads of pot holes in the paths in Wexford, but the skate park is smooth The ramps are called the bull, the half pipe There is one we call the boob!! You’ll have to visit to know what we mean. There are different terrains that allow you to do different trick.”
Can you describe your board? “Grip tape, orange wheels, lots of scrapes to show that it's been used. When it was new I was called a poser but not anymore because it looks used and battered.”
Do you have anything else to say? “Skateboarding is fun. Kids - do it!! Like learning a language, it will come more easily the younger you are When I skate I feel happy, I feel cool although a little anxious that I might fall although I am getting better so I won’t always feel anxious.”
