Postdoctoral Training Institutions, Inc. (MSOPTI)
School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) and affiliated training institutions. The summary below references the department’s most significant projects and activities during the academic year: • Received AOA approval for our second geriatric medicine fellowship at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, W. Va. and the first osteopathic training program in the state of Maryland with the Meritus Health Family Medicine Residency, which will have 18 resident positions. • Attended the SOMA convention as well as numerous Hospital Days and Residency Fairs to create national awareness of educational opportunities within the MSOPTI partner institutions. • Hosted annual MSOPTI House Staff Day where trainees across MSOPTI programs reunite for a day of educational activities. • Strategized with MSOPTI partners regarding AOA/ ACGME unification. MSOPTI moving forward with Institutional Sponsorship application for ACGME accreditation. • Developed OPP Board review for graduating residents. 36

• Infectious Disease in Older Adults Primary Care Seminar. • AER/La Opiod REMS: Achieving Safe Use While Improving Patient Care CME event. • Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia University CME event. • A Continuum of Care for Vulnerable Populations Primary Care seminar. Additionally, SE-AHEC plays a key role in networking with academic and health professions communities to address the health needs of rural and underserved areas. The sponsorship of inter-professional teams, which develop community-focused, public health interventions, as well as the coordination and support of health careers recruitment programs for K-16 students, and geriatricfocused initiatives, have proven to be exceptional educational experiences for students, residents and health professionals.
