Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) will not reinstate a direct bus service between Wainuiomata and Wellington while there was a shortage of bus drivers, Regional Councillor Quentin Duthie told the 15 February meeting of the Wainuiomata Community Board.

Labour and National’s two Huttbased MPS – Ginny Andersen and Chris Bishop – and Hutt City Councillors Keri Brown and Josh Briggs made presentations to GWRC at the council’s meeting on 15 December.

The four representatives advocated “very strongly that the regional council should reinstate the bus,” Cr Duthie said.

However while there was a bus driver shortage “we cannot expand anything.
