Local author features in new series

Wainuiomata author and publisher Dahlia Malaeulu features as the writer of one of the first two books in a Pasifika bilingual series called the Moana Oceania Series.

Dahlia’s book is entitled “S moa” and is being published by Oratia Books alongside “Cook Islands – Kuki ‘Airani” by Jean Tekura Mason.
In her book, Dahlia provides a comprehensive overview of life for Samoans in the islands and in New Zealand.
With her English text translat- ed into Gagana Samoa by Tapaau Auvaa, the book includes a section on language basics.
An important feature is its explanation of Fa’as moa, the fundamental values of Samoan life, including connection to ‘Aiga (family), nu’u (village), land and religion.
Another important focus of “S moa” is how Pasifika peoples maintain and adapt their culture living in Aotearoa.
Dahlia is a passionate educator and strong advocate for Pasifika children’s literature.
