DanG & Friends Bull Sale 2025

Page 1

Welcome from DanG Charolais

Welcome to the DanG and Friends Bull Sale. I must take the time to thank the friends. It is them who make this all possible. Barry is the planner. He usually calls me a couple of times a week, but as things get closer, he keeps me in check with calls a little more often. Todd is the work horse, washing and trying to get crap of of the bulls. He does whatever is asked. Frank, Mark and Tanin DeGurse have travelled a lot of miles back and forth to help with the clipping and cleaning. Eric is our “techy” guy, he does such a great job. Then, we have Kyle and my granddaughter Mae. Kyle does so much I don’t know where to start, we are very lucky to have him. Mae is becoming a main character around here. She works the slide gates and keeps it moving. Garrett, my son, the “G” in DanG, is very busy these days with his growing young family but comes out to help with anything when asked. This brings me to Tami, who keeps all of our paperwork in order. I probably wouldn’t have any purebred cattle if not for Tami. She also does a lot of the vaccinating of calves, record keeping, it’s endless for her. Thanks babe!!! I couldn’t do any of this without all of these people. I just had an idea and it’s still growing.

Please come to our bull sale, even if you don’t need a bull. Come visit, have a meal, maybe a beverage and look at some good bulls that are ready to go out and work! We picked Mr. Jon Wright to manage this sale so I’ll leave the rest of the talking to him.

Thanks all, Derek

Welcome from Wright Livestock Marketing

Welcome to the DanG Charolais & Friends Annual Bull Sale. We are very excited to be working with the tremendous group of forward thinking Charolais breeders to market their bulls at their annual sale this year.

This outstanding ofering of Charolais Yearling and select Two-Year Old Charolais Bulls may be small in number of bulls ofered, but there most defnitely is no shortage of quality throughout the entire ofering. Each bull featured in the sale has been taken right from the top of each consignors bull pen and put forward to represent their programs in this prestigious sale.

Whether you are looking for a bull to add those payweight pounds to your calf crop, or a sire to make those replacement females that are currently in hot demand, a heifer bull or a power cow bull, this ofering has it all. Each of these programs recognizes the signifcance of ofering only the best quality out of their bull pen, and that is what you will fnd amongst these pages. There are bulls from foundation females and industry proven herd sires. Believe us, you don’t want to miss this bull sale!

If you have any questions about the bulls featured in the ofering, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to talk about bulls or assist you with telephone bidding if that is how you wish to participate in the sale. Hope to see you sale day at the beautiful DanG Sale Facility in Colborne, Ontario.

Sincerely,

Wright Livestock Marketing

My personal favourite in the pen. This bull has been a head turner since day one. He jumped up and drank like it was his job. Very quiet and a pet. Will come for scratches all the time. He has large, really great feet. A moderate birthweight of 91 lbs and sired by PCC Uprising, a high seller out of PCC that year. If you want to keep females, this is your best option. He will also put pounds on your male calves.

PCC Uprising 132J Sire

A lot of good bloodlines going back here. Nice easy birthweight of 84 lbs. He has good feet and structure. Send Lucifer out to breed some cows.

Another GOOD Uprising son with a very sound structure. I believe Lancelot will last quite some time. He is nice and quiet, and he will make females that will milk and be great mommas. His dam is second to none!

GERRARD PASTOR 35Z

MISS PRAIRIE COVE 95H PRAIRIE COVE MISS 309A

Two-Year Old Bulls

The heavyweight champ in the pen, but a big softy. He will be over a ton by sale time. His name is Ivan, after a great friend Ivan Hutchinson. Ivan was born at 106 lbs on his own, jumped up and started with a bang. His dam was the frst embryo calf born here at DanG. She has another bull in the sale as well who is quite nice, and another on her side this year. Productivity in this family!

An embryo calf… who’s your daddy??? A good solid bull with a larger birthweight of 118 lbs but born unassisted out of an 1,800 lb cow. Breed him to your crossbred cows, he won’t be a problem! He has a nice shaped head and is long. Length adds weight! He is as quiet as a kitten.

Pleasantdawn Ace 416G Sire

Yearling Bulls

Macaulay comes from a cow we purchased from Jef and Halle Packer. He is quite a calf for a March 9th birthdate. Blood runs thick in this bull! A Trust going back to Crowd Favourite, he moves as smooth as a cat. If treated right, he will last. He’s just a little younger. A dozen cows would be a good year for him.

Trust 6H Sire

Yearling Bulls

Perfect fella for your heifer pen. This guy was born at 67 lbs, never touched and he grew! Anybody who knows Char bloodlines, this bull is full of some of the best in the breed. Breed Lorenzo to cows too, they will do great.

Milo is so well bred, a Lily 5013 x Winn Mans Lanza 610S. Just amazing! We purchased embryos from PCC and I’m sure glad we did. Thanks Tim! I would breed Milo to heifers and cows alike and keep the female calves. If you want to sell them, ask me frst please!

Yearling Bulls

Mr. Max is what you’ll be calling him when he’s full grown. The largest yearling of ours, he will be as long as your truck, just like his daddy. His momma is a big cow too! With a 102 lb birthweight, it was nothing for her. He is nice and quiet and will make steers to pound down the scales.

Winn Manns Lanza 610S Sire

Yearling Bulls

Marksman really catches my eye and lots of the farmers eyes that have been through the pen as well. Very nicely rounded rump, great feet and legs. A 107lb birthweight out of a 1,928lb cow. I walked in the barn, and he was up and drinking! Marksman will hit the target, whether in a commercial or purebred herd.

Matcho Man, Miss Penny Lane does it again, but from Bold Move this time. 5 bulls in a row, all have been sold as bulls. I would breed this bull to heifers and cows and sleep easy. They will grow too! Matcho is only a March 21st calf. Bold Move has become a go-to sire in the industry. This bull is just plain good!

Magnum started out at 84lbs from a second timer. His sire was a heifer bull we purchased from PCC and he is a great one! We lost him to an accident but have semen on him. Thanks again Tim! This fella will make a heifer bull, but those calves will grow. Lincolns have vigour at birth like no other.

Yearling Bulls

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, well I think you can tell I didn’t name this one!!! Maxwell comes from a cow Tami and I purchased together, PCC 804F. A big powerful cow, and so is her daughter. Both have great udders and feet that are built to last. Maxwell should produce the same. Bold Move being the sire just makes him better! If you follow EPDs, they don’t get much better in my opinion, but that’s just me!

Two-Year Old Bull

Moonshine Ice has herdsire written all over him. He has incredible length, with depth and thickness. With a little extra age, this guy will cover a few extra cows this spring. His pedigree runs deep with the great PCC 309A cow and one of our foundation females, the Ice Princess 1B cow. This guy with his two pen mates across the page are halter broke and were proudly shown at local fairs.

100K Testing Pending

Cays Moonshine 11C Sire

Derek stopped in for a visit and a cold one on a very hot day last July. While enjoying a “pop” we toured the herd. Derek picked this bull out right away. That one’s a keeper he said! Marvel 1M is a real good, moderate framed, smooth made bull. The Carbon copy Yellowstone really worked on this guy. This bull will work on cows and the heifer pen.

If you desire power and performance, Major League will catch your eye. This resource son is long sided, deep ribbed with a wide top. A direct son of the PCC 314A donor cow, this guy with push the scales down on his ofspring.

The only setback is the fact that I lost Maxwell’s mother (TCC 71K) this Spring in an accident. As we all know in this business, we generally lose our best when faced with tragedy. Terry Creek Maxwell has a top 10% milk EPD and comes from a long line of maternally good milking females. If you’re looking to keep some females, Terry Creek Maxwell may be the bull for you. Make sure you check him out on sale day!!!!

2024 blessed Terry Creek with an overabundance of heifer calves but TCC 14M was the standout bull calf right from the get-go!!!! Terry Creek Merlin’s sire is non other than the $48,000 JMAR Jeferson 8M11 that I used heavily in my AI program. TCC 14M’s mother goes back to a no-miss female that I purchased from Partridge Hollow a few years back. This combination put together yielded an EPD set for WW, Maternal, TSI, CW and marbling all in the top 5%. Whether you are a commercial breeder looking for pounds at sale day or a seedstock breeder looking for some diferent genetics, TCC 14M has plenty to ofer.

TCC 371M and TCC 141M were both born on the same day, both weighed 83lbs at birth and both sired by the JMAR Lead Time 1L16 bull. The only diference as the eye can see are their Dams. These two have been pen mates and best buddies right from the beginning!!!!! Maverick’s dam was a frst calf heifer and boy did she do a good job on her frst calf. He is long bodied with good feet and a great temperament. An ideal bull for those who are looking for easy calving and good growth who may also be looking to retain females. Lastly, if one studies pedigrees, Maverick’s grand dam was a high seller in the Platinum Picks 2023 female sale going to DANG Charolais and Prairie Cove Charolais.

I purchased Myle’s mother (Pleasant Dawn Magnolia 513K) as a high selling heifer calf at the 2022 No Borders sale a couple of years back and I quickly knew she was going to be a good one. Myles’ dam is a Pleasant Dawn Vessel 195H daughter with Vessel (now deceased) being the high selling bull at the 2021 Pleasant Dawn bull sale. When planning this breeding, I was able to convince Trent to use his last straw of CCC WC Resource 417P with Terry Creek Myles 513M being the fnal result. Myles is a Resource x Vessel cross who is long bodied, smoothly made and should go on to do great things!!!! As an added bonus, he is Homo-polled.

Terry Creek Maddox 153M is the frst Pleasant Dawn Transport bull that I am ofering for sale. Maddox’s mom was purchased at the Tully Hatch dispersal as a heifer calf and has never looked back. Every ofspring she has produced has either been sold in the Platinum Picks female sale or the DANG and Friends bull sale. As for Maddox, he is long in design, athletic and I believe he would work well for the commercial cow/calf enthusiast who is looking for calving ease with added performance. A bonus is that he is homo polled so horns will not be an issue.

An excellent herd bull prospect on ofer from our very best cow family! The “Ezzy” cow family has been outstanding in terms of phenotype, production and predictability - Ezzy 705E was a many time champion in the show ring, she has been unstoppable in her production and continues to be the best investment we have made in the Charolais business thus far. We have sold sons to Luc Cormier & Fundy Charolais, NB and Wayne Proctor, ON. We have sold daughters to Medonte Charolais (The Miller Family), ON as well as our sale host DanG Charolais. Music Man is simply impeccable in his design, phenomenal in his temperament and predicts to be easy calving. A heifer bull option with some extra look and backed by one of the very best cow families in the business!

FJD Magnum is this year’s 2024 Reserve Senior Bull Calf Champion from the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Seeing the banner sponsored in memory of Ivan Hutchinson, whom I got to know closely through our Platinum Pics sale was a double honour. FJD Magnum 3M comes to the successful bidder who’s looking for docility, stretch, soggy depth of rib, wide loin, surefooted correctness, homo polled all combined with the gain per day you demand in a future herd bull sire for your program. FJD Magnum was a real treat to work with this year in the wash rack loving a great back scrub. He was so easy to work with in the show ring. He was a no worries calf with a great birthweight and calving ease from both his sire and dam’s family, going back to some great banner winning animals.

Here’s a Milestone son with some depth of outcross and homo polled genetics on the dam’s side. We like the assurance of his calving ease, good set of EPD’s and the weight gain per day we had. These helped make his foundations we looked at when making him an excellent consignment to Derek’s sale. If you’re looking for show ring fancy for the front pasture or he’s got to travel the back pasture and woodlot ruggedness, you’ll get all that in FJD Monarch. FJD Monarch is a long-bodied and still-growing bull with impressive size and top structure. He has been highly scored for future heifer pen backup in your AI program or as a prime service sire. We halter break everything as everyone knows so that you get added docility in your yard.
