The DEPA Platform Intelligent Video Analytics

The DEPA solution is a combined function of the camera intelligence incorporated in the camera and the rules or filters on the recorder or software to determine what is to be recorded or when to trigger an alarm. When the network camera perform IMD or IOD, "tagged" objects and their associated metadata, including object position data, are sent to the NSR Series or the IMZ-RS400 Series. These products then use the metadata, together with filters, to analyze any object movement. This method of distributed processing minimizes the server workload, network bandwidth, and storage requirements.

High Frame Rate

The camera supports a maximum frame rate of 30 fps when the image size is VGA (640 x 480) in both MPEG4 and JPEG modes, resulting in clear and smooth-moving images. The frame rate can be set to meet your

specific network environment and system requirements. Dynamic Frame Integration

The camera incorporates Dynamic Frame Integration (DFI) technology to reproduce clear images for both still and moving objects within an image. DFI technology detects movement within the image and reproduces those areas with minimal blurring, while areas in the image with little or no movement are displayed naturally with minimal jagged edges. This unique algorithm also takes advantage of the interlaced-scanning CCD, which is inherently more sensitive than progressive-scan CCDs and can provide clear images even under lowlighting conditions.

JPEG Picture Quality Settings With Constant Bitrate Algorithm

Users can preset the JPEG picture quality from among ten levels. In addition, because the camera incorporates a constant bitrate algorithm, it limits the data bitrate while maintaining high-quality images. This is useful for calculating the required storage capacity and bandwidth during installation.

Image Stabilizer

The image stabilizer function minimizes the appearance of shaky images caused by low-frequency vibration to provide stable and sharp images. This function is useful for outdoor surveillance and traffic monitoring applications when environmental vibration effects such as wind are common.

Powerful Zoom Capability

The camera incorporates a powerful 18x optical zoom lens, allowing for a zoom capability of up to 216x when used in combination with its 12x digital zoom.

Selectable JPEG, MPEG4, H.264 Compression Formats

The camera supports three compression formats, JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264. The "industry standard" JPEG compression format can be selected when high-quality still images are preferred. MPEG-4 provides clear moving images efficiently over networks when bandwidth is limited. For more efficient compression, when bandwidth is even more limited, the H.264 compression format, which is approximately twice as efficient as MPEG-4, is also available.

Dual Encoding Capability

With a dual encoding capability, the camera can generate both MPEG-4 and JPEG images simultaneously. For example, you can set up your system to transfer MPEG-4 images over a WAN or an Internet VPN, where network bandwidth is limited, while storing high-resolution JPEG images on a server configured on the LAN.

Wireless Capability

The camera supports IEEE802.11g* and IEEE802.11b compliant Wireless LAN Cards. In addition, the optional SNCA-AN1 External Antenna can be used to transmit wireless signals over a longer distance. A wireless system configuration can save you time and money during installation. * When the SNCA-CFW5 (IEEE802.11g/11b Wireless LAN Card) is used with the SNC-RX Series, the typical transfer rate is approximately 3 Mb/s.

"Day/Night" Function

The camera can switch from day mode (Color) to night mode (B/W) by replacing the camera's infrared cut filter with a clear filter. Users can toggle between the two modes, manually, on a predefined schedule, using an external sensor, or automatically in response to surrounding light conditions. When the camera is in night mode, it is sensitive to near-IR illuminators, allowing it to operate even in zero lx* conditions. * Zero lx means absence of visible light to the naked eye.

Bi-Directional Audio

Users can connect an external microphone to the camera in order to pick up audio from a preferred location. The camera is also equipped with a speaker output, enabling users to send an alert or make an announcement from a remote location - significantly expanding the possibilities of their monitoring applications.

Voice Alert

The Voice Alert function allows users to upload up to three pre-recorded audio files to the camera, for playback upon an alarm trigger or on a pre-specified time schedule.

Intelligent Motion Detection

The built-in IMD function can trigger a variety of actions such as the storage and transfer of images or can trigger an external device through its output relays. False alarms caused by noise and repeated motion patterns are minimized thanks to an advanced Sony algorithm. Plus, when used in conjunction with DEPAenabled recorders or software, a multitude of filter functions is available to actuate triggers based on more specific movement.

Intelligent Object Detection*

The camera can detect objects that have been abandoned or have become stationary for a specified duration. Up to four detection areas can be designated. This feature is useful for detecting suspicious objects left in public places, or for detecting stalled cars or accidents on the road. Like IMD, filters can be used when configured with DEPA-enabled products. * The intelligent object detection function and the intelligent motion detection function cannot be used simultaneously.

Sensor IN/Alarm OUT Ports

Equipped with two sensor inputs, the camera can receive triggers from external sensors. Two alarm outputs can also be used to trigger other devices to perform a variety of actions.

Pre-/Post-Alarm Image Storage

The camera is capable of storing both pre-and post-alarm images on 16 MB of built-in memory or on removable storage media.

Image Transfer Using FTP/SMTP*

All of the pre-/post-alarm images stored at the time of an alarm event can be transferred to an FTP server for viewing at a later time. Also, a still image generated at the time of an alarm event can be sent to a designated e-mail address. * All images transferred using SMTP are in JPEG format.

Adaptive Rate Control

In order to control QoS (Quality of Service) levels over a network, the camera employ an adaptive rate control (ARC) function. ARC automatically varies the video bit-transfer rate to meet changing network conditions and selects the most appropriate frame rates, thus preventing video breakup.

Simultaneous Access

Up to 20 users can simultaneously access the camera and monitor images separately.

Multicasting Capability

When configured with a multicast router, the camera can efficiently stream MPEG-4 and H.246 video and

audio to a large number of users. IEEE802.1X Compliant

The camera supports IEEE802.1X port-based network access control. This means the camera can be integrated to a network environment that uses the IEEE802.1X client-authorization protocol for security purposes. This feature can be used on both wired- and wireless-connections.

Analog Composite Video Output

The camera can output an analog composite video signal via the BNC connector. This feature is ideal for local video recording or monitoring. Also, the analog composite video signal provides a high-horizontal resolution of 470 TV lines, delivering amazingly clear and detailed images.

RS-232C Interface

Transparency Function: The camera has a transparency function that allows external equipment connected via the RS-232C interface to be controlled or monitored, by a PC over a network. VISCA Protocol: The camera can interface with external control equipment using the Sony VISCA protocol. This configuration allows for local control of Pan/Tilt/Zoom and adjustment of camera settings.

Date/Time Superimposition

The date and time of recorded images can be superimposed on the video while it is being monitored and recorded. This feature is ideal not only for easily identifying the exact date and time of an event during playback, but because the information becomes part of the video image, it is also useful when providing video evidence to authorities.

File Export to Various Removable Media

The camera is equipped with a PC card slot and memory stick media slot, allowing users to store images on removable media as required.

Spherical Privacy Zone Masking Function*

This technology allows masked areas to be interlocked with the camera's Pan/Tilt/Zoom movements regardless of the camera angle or even if it is circling. Up to eight unwanted or prohibited areas within an image can be masked precisely and appropriately. *Supplied "SNC Privacy Masking Tool" software is required to set masking areas.

Mechanical "Auto-Flip" Function

The camera combines a 90-degree tilt capability with 360-degree rotation to track subjects passing beneath it. First, the camera tilts down 90 degrees until the subject is directly beneath it. Then it rotates 180 degrees, and tilts back up to track the subject as it moves away. This combination of moves is known as the Auto-Flip function.

High-Quality Images

Employing the latest 1/4-type Exwave HAD CCD, the SNC-RZ25 delivers exceptional picture quality for your remote monitoring applications. Also, because the minimum illumination level is 0.7 lx at F 1.4, the SNC-RZ25 operates extremely well even in low-light conditions.

"Day/Night" Function

The SNC-RZ25 offers a "Day/Night" function to provide optimized sensitivity in both day and night environments. As the scene darkens, the infrared cut-filter is automatically replaced with a clear filter and the camera switches to B/W mode, requiring a minimum illumination of less than 0.01 lx. Three modes can be set: automatic, manual, or a timer mode.

Selectable MPEG-4 or JPEG Compression Formats

The SNC-RZ25 uses the MPEG-4 compression format to achieve high-compression ratios without sacrificing image quality. MPEG-4 allows smooth moving images to be streamed over a wide range of bandwidths so users can monitor high-quality moving images with a minimal delay even over limited bandwidths. The SNCRZ25 also supports variable bit rates up to 2 Mb/s. Transmission protocols (TCP or UDP) and image size can be selected to meet your network environment and

application requirements. If higher quality still images are preferred, then the industry-standard JPEG compression format can be selected from the setup menu. High Frame Rate

The SNC-RZ25 produces images at a maximum frame rate of 30fps* when the image size is 320 x 240 in both MPEG-4 and JPEG modes, producing clear and smooth-moving images. The frame rate can be fixed or set to a variable rate that automatically adjusts to the available bandwidth. * In order to view images at the maximum frame rate, adequate PC processing power and network bandwidth are required.

Bi-Directional Audio

The SNC-RZ25 supports both ITU-T G.711 and G.726 audio compression standards. Equipped with an external microphone jack, the SNC-RZ25 can be configured with a microphone so that audio, including sound from distant objects, can be monitored at the camera site. The unit is also equipped with an audio line output for active speakers. Using these speakers, users can send an alert or make an announcement, significantly expanding the possibilities for remote monitoring applications.

Adaptive Rate Control

In order to control QoS (Quality of Service) levels over a network, the SNC-RZ25 employs an adaptive rate control function. This function automatically varies the video bit-transfer rate to meet changing network conditions. Adaptive rate control also selects the most appropriate frame rates, preventing audio and video breakup.

Simultaneous Access

Up to 20 users in JPEG mode or 10 users in MPEG-4 mode can simultaneously access the SNC-RZ25 and monitor images separately.

Multicasting Capability

The SNC-RZ25 has a built-in multicasting capability. When configured with a multicast router, the unit can efficiently stream video and audio to a large number of users.

Compact Flash (CF) Type Card Slot/Wireless Capability

A built-in expansion slot for Compact Flash cards is integrated into the SNC-RZ25, enabling you to store additional images on CF media as required. You can also opt to install the SNC-RZ25 in a wireless network to avoid unsightly wires, as the CF type card slot can accept the optional SNCA-CFW1 Wireless Card. This wireless card is IEEE 802.11b compliant.

Motion Detection*/Alarm Trigger

The SNC-RZ25 is equipped with a built-in motion detection function that can generate an alarm through its alarm-output port or trigger another device to perform a variety of actions. The motion-detection function uses vector information so that unwanted noise components do not accidentally trigger the alarm. In addition to these features, the SNC-RZ25 is equipped with a sensor-input port that can receive a trigger from an external sensor. * The motion detection function is available only with MPEG-4 compression format.

Pre-/Post-Alarm Image Storage

With its built-in buffer memory, the SNC-RZ25 can store several seconds of pre-alarm and post-alarm images when the motion detector, the sensor input, or both trigger an alarm.

Maximum Image Storage Capacity (Definable from the Setup Menu)

MPEG-4 Compressed Images: Approx. 30 seconds*1 (pre-/post- 15 sec). JPEG Compressed Images: Approx. 10 seconds*2 (pre-/post- 5 sec). *1 when image size is 320 x 240 at 30 fps and 512 kbps. *2 when image size is 320 x 240 at 15 fps and image quality is set to Level 3.

Image transfer using FTP/SMTP*

All of the pre-/post-alarm images stored at the time of an alarm event can be transferred to an FTP server for later viewing. Also, a still image at the time of an alarm event can be sent to a designated e-mail address. * All images transferred using SMTP are in JPEG format.

IP Filtering

With IP filtering, access to the SNC-RZ25 can be restricted to one or more groups of selected users. Up to ten different groups can be established by defining an IP address range for each group.

Password Protection

User names and passwords can be assigned to allow four levels of access. The administrator has complete access/control of the cameras; while the other three levels of access can be set to limit user privileges to functions such as PTZ control, viewing, and trigger control.

Analog Composite Video Output

The SNC-RZ25 can output an analog composite video signal via the BNC connector on the unit's rear panel. This feature is ideal for sending signals to a local recording device or monitor.

User-Friendly GUI

The SNC-RZ25 has a user-friendly GUI accessible via a PC running the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser software. Setup is very easy with the intuitive icons and pull-down menus. Directly pointing to and clicking on any part of the monitor image in the viewer will pan and tilt the camera so that the selected point is centered. Also, selecting an area on the image by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the mouse diagonally will enlarge and center the selected area in the monitor.

Direct Pointing in Panorama View

The SNC-RZ25 can also be controlled by clicking on the panorama* image. Selecting an area on the panorama view will center that area in the monitor. * The panorama view is a still image. The SNC panorama creator (supplied software) must be run to generate the panorama image.

Flexible Installation (Desktop or Ceiling Mountable)

A unique feature that "flips" images enables the SNC-RZ25 to be placed on either a flat surface (desktop) or ceiling mounted. Images are output right-side-up regardless of the orientation of the unit. Unlike other products that require separate models for ceiling and desktop applications, this single model is all that is necessary when installing your network camera system.

Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) Capability

The SNC-RZ50 is PTZ-capable with a pan range of 340 degrees and a tilt range of 115 degrees, enabling users to monitor a wide area. Also, with its powerful 26x optical and 12x digital (312x total) zoom, users can zoom in on small or distant objects with exceptional clarity.

Selectable JPEG, MPEG4, H.264 Compression Formats*1

The SNC-RZ50 supports three compression formats, JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264. MPEG-4 provides clear moving images efficiently over networks even with limited network bandwidth. For higher compression, when bandwidth is even more limited, H.264, which achieves two times more compression than MPEG-4, is available. If high quality still images are preferred, then the industry standard JPEG compression format can be chosen. The image size can be selected from three modes to meet your network environment and application requirements. *1 H.264 compressed video cannot be viewed using a browser. This function will be available with a software upgrade in the future.

1/4-type Super HAD CCD

Employing the latest 1/4-type Super HAD CCD, the SNC-RZ50 delivers exceptional picture quality for your remote monitoring applications. And with a minimum illumination level of 2.2 lx at F 1.6 in color, the camera captures high-contrast images even in low-light conditions.

Dynamic Frame Integration

The SNC-RZ50 incorporates Dynamic Frame Integration technology to reproduce clear and smooth images for both still and moving objects within an image. The camera detects movement within the image and reproduces those areas in the image with minimal blurring, while areas in the image with little or no movement are displayed naturally with minimal jagged edges. This unique algorithm also takes advantage of the interlace scanning CCD, which is inherently more sensitive than progressive scan CCDs, providing clear images even under low-lighting conditions.

High Frame Rate

The SNC-RZ50 supports a maximum frame rate of 30 fps when the image size is VGA (640 x 480) in both MPEG-4 and JPEG modes, producing clear and smooth-moving images. The frame rate can be set to meet your network environment and system requirements.

Dual Encoding Capability

The SNC-RZ50 is equipped with a dual encoding capability that enables the camera to generate both MPEG-4 and JPEG images simultaneously. For example, you can set up your system to transfer MPEG-4 images over a WAN or an Internet VPN, where network bandwidth is limited, while storing high-resolution JPEG images on a server configured on the LAN.

Image Stabilizer

The image stabilizer function minimizes the appearance of shaky images caused by low-frequency vibration so that stable and sharp images are provided. This function is useful for outdoor surveillance and traffic monitoring applications.

"Day/Night" Function

The SNC-RZ50 offers a "Day/Night" function to provide optimized sensitivity in both day and night environments. As the scene darkens, the infrared cut filter is automatically replaced with a clear filter and the camera switches to B/W mode, requiring a minimum illumination of less than 0.3 lx. In this mode, the camera is also sensitive to near IR illuminators, allowing it to operate even in 0 lx*2 conditions. *2 0 lx means absence of visible light to the naked eye.

Intelligent Motion Detection

The SNC-RZ50 is equipped with a built-in Intelligent Motion Detection function that can trigger a variety of actions such as storing and transferring images or that can trigger an external device through its output relays. Unlike conventional motion detection schemes where the current image is compared to the previous frame, the SNC-RZ50 utilizes the last 15 frames to perform motion analysis, and to trigger the alarm. This prevents unwanted noise components from accidentally triggering an alarm, providing a more robust detection method, thus reducing the number of false alarms.

Intelligent Object Detection*3

The SNC-RZ50 can detect objects that have been left in one place for a specified duration. Up to four detection areas can be designated. This feature can be useful for applications such as detecting suspicious objects left in public spaces, or for detecting stalled cars or accidents on the road. *3 The Intelligent Object Detection function and Intelligent Motion Detection function cannot be used simultaneously.

Sensor IN/Alarm OUT ports

Equipped with two sensor inputs, the SNC-RZ50 can receive triggers from external sensors. Also, two alarm outputs can be used to trigger other devices to perform a variety of actions.

Pre-/Post-Alarm Image Storage

The SNC-RZ50 is capable of storing both pre-and post-alarm images on removable media when an alarm is triggered.

Image Transfer Using FTP/SMTP*4

All of the pre-/post-alarm images stored at the time of an alarm event can be transferred to an FTP server for later viewing. Also, a still image at the time of an alarm event can be sent to a designated e-mail address. *4 All images transferred using SMTP are in JPEG format.

Anti-tampering Function*5

Incorporating a digital signature technology using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), the SNC-RZ50 allows users to verify the origin of images and ensure the integrity of images against tampering. This is done by creating a digital certificate for each camera manufactured and applying digital signatures in the form of metadata to all images produced by that camera; this combination assures that an image produced by a camera is unique only to that camera. *5 This function is available only with recording software that complies with the Sony digital signature scheme.

Simultaneous Access

Up to 20 users can simultaneously access the SNC-RZ50 and monitor images separately.

Multicasting Capability

The SNC-RZ50 has a built-in multicasting capability for MPEG-4 and H.264 video. When configured with a multicast router, the unit can efficiently stream video and audio to a large number of users.

IP Filtering

With IP filtering, access to the SNC-RZ50 can be restricted to one or more groups of selected users. Up to ten different groups can be established by defining an IP address range for each group.

Password Protection

User names and passwords can be assigned to allow five levels of access. The administrator has complete access/control of the cameras; while the other four levels of access can be set to limit user privileges to functions such as PTZ control, viewing, and trigger control.

Compact Flash Type Card Slot and PC Card Slot

Both Compact Flash and PC card slots are integrated into the SNC-RZ50, enabling you to store images on removable media as required.

Wireless Capability

The SNC-RZ50 supports the IEEE802.11b compliant SNCA-CFW1 Wireless LAN Card. In addition, the optional SNCA-AN1 External Antenna can be used to transmit wireless signals over a longer distance. A wireless system configuration can save you time and money during installation.

Bi-Directional Audio

Users can connect an external microphone to the unit and pickup audio from a preferred location. This unit is also equipped with a speaker output, enabling users to send an alert or make an announcement, significantly expanding the possibilities for remote monitoring applications.

Voice Alert

The Voice Alert function allows users to upload a pre-recorded audio file that can be played back upon an alarm trigger, or on a pre-specified time schedule.

User-Friendly GUI

The SNC-RZ50 has a user-friendly GUI accessible via a PC running the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser software. Setup is very easy with intuitive icons and pull-down menus. Directly pointing to and clicking on any part of the monitor image in the viewer will pan and tilt the camera so that the selected point is centered. Also, selecting an area on the image by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the mouse diagonally will enlarge and center the selected area in the monitor.

Compact and Stylish Design With Rear Cover

Flexible Installation

The SNC-RZ50 can either be mounted to a ceiling or placed on a desktop. Because this camera incorporates an electronic "Image Flip" function, it displays images for proper upright viewing in either orientation in both the analog output as well as the browser view.

Analog Composite Video Output

The SNC-RZ50 can output an analog composite video signal via the BNC connector on the unit's rear panel. This feature is ideal for outputting image data to a local recording device or monitor.

Transparency Function

The SNC-RZ50 has a transparency function available via the RS-232C interface. For example, external equipment connected to the camera via RS-232C can be controlled by a PC over a network.

VISCA Protocol

The SNC-RZ50 can interface with external control equipment using the Sony VISCA protocol. This configuration allows for local control of Pan/Tilt/Zoom and for camera settings.

Both the NSR & IMZ Series incorporate DEPA - Sony's Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture. Used in conjunction with DEPA-enabled network cameras from Sony (SNC-RX Series, SNC-RZ50, SNC-CS50, and later models), DEPA helps identify critical events more easily, and provides a streamlined workflow for your video security operations.

Expandability and Flexibility Additional storage of 2 TB x7

The NSR-1050H has an internal storage of up to 2 TB/1 TB/0.5 TB respectively. Each can be connected with up to seven units of the NSRE-S200 (2 TB Hard Disk Storage Device).

Remote viewing by controller software

If you install the bundled Controller Software to a personal computer in a remote location, you can supervise NSR-1050H recording servers simultaneously in various locations, with flexibility in selecting and viewing live and recorded images.

IMZ-NS100 Series

In the same series of software solution, Sony also provides the IMZ-NS101/ NS104/ NS109/NS116/ NS132 Intelligent Monitoring Software. This can be installed on your own Microsoft (R) Windows (R) server to monitor and control 1/4/9/16/32 network cameras, respectively. It features the same functionality and graphical user interface as the NSR-1000 Series. The supplied Controller Software can be used for the multiple NSR-1000 Series and IMZ-NS100 Series.

Flexible user management

All access is managed by user authorization, which is set by the system administrator. The administrator can simply provide a user with the prepared five levels of operational permission, or the administrator can give a user different permission levels for different accessible cameras/servers.

Super HAD CCD

The SSC-CD45 incorporates a 1/3-type Super HAD CCD that delivers high sensitivity levels and high picture quality for a number of monitoring applications. The minimum illumination of the camera is 0.9 lx at F1.3.

High Horizontal Resolution of 540 TV lines

The high-quality CCD imager, in combination with the camera's state-of-the-art DSP technology, produces a high horizontal resolution of 540 TV lines for amazingly clear and detailed images.

Powerful 3.6x Zoom, Varifocal Lens

The camera comes equipped with a 3.6x zoom, vari-focal lens that covers an extremely wide range of viewing angles from 100.8째 (wide-angle) to 27.2째 (telephoto). This feature provides installation flexibility for a number of different applications and locations.

Wall- or Ceilingmountable/Easy Viewingangle Adjustment

The camera can be easily wall- or ceiling-mounted, for installation flexibility. Also, in addition to the BNC video output on the rear of the camera, a secondary video output (RCA phono jack) is provided on the front of the camera. This allows installers to monitor images during installation for accurate and quick adjustment of the focus and viewing-angle.

Ball-Joint Lens Mount Technology

With the Sony patented Ball-Joint Lens Mount mechanism incorporated into the vari-focal lens of the camera, the lens can be rotated freely in any direction. Unlike conventional cameras, it takes only one action to adjust the pan and tilt angles, allowing for quick and easy adjustment of the camera's viewing angle during installation.

Backlight Compensation (BLC)

Unwanted backlight can often cast a shadow in front of the subject of an image, making it appear dark to the camera. The BLC function incorporated in the camera automatically compensates for such conditions, making the subject more visible on the monitor.

Automatic Gain Control (AGC)

The camera is equipped with an advanced AGC function. This automatically boosts the camera gain up to 24 dB, allowing operators monitoring the image to distinguish the subject more easily in low light conditions.

Auto Tracing White Balance (ATW)/ATW Pro

ATW is a feature that automatically adjusts the camera's white balance to adapt to changing light conditions. With ATW, the camera can compensate for a color temperature range of between 2,000 K and 10,000 K, allowing for operation under a variety of lighting conditions, including special light sources such as a sodium vapor lamp. When operating under natural light, incandescent lamps, or fluorescent light sources, ATW Pro which compensates for a color temperature range of between 2,500 K and 6,000 K - is ideal for reproducing color images closer to what we see with our eyes.

AC Line Lock/Internal Line Lock

The camera features both an AC line lock and an internal line lock for synchronization. The AC line lock is ideal in multi-camera operations, as it synchronizes all cameras connected to the same power line. This prevents the video from rolling vertically when switching between cameras. The vertical phase can be adjusted by ±90 degrees.

Flexible Power Operation

The camera offers a choice of two types of power: 24 V AC or 12 V DC. The camera automatically adapts to whichever power source is used, making installation fast and effective.

High Resolution and High Sensitivity

SSC-DC80 incorporates a 1/2-type CCD with Exwave HAD technology that achieves high sensitivity levels and delivers outstanding picture quality at a high resolution of 480 TV lines. The minimum illumination of 0.4 lx allows images to be captured clearly even under low-light conditions.

Variable Gamma Curve

Users can choose from four preset gamma curves, including two unique gamma curves, which enable the brightness levels of captured images to be controlled precisely. By selecting a gamma curve that is appropriate for a given scene, captured images can be reproduced clearly and sharply.

A Wide Auto Tracing White (ATW) Range

ATW is a feature that automatically adjusts the camera white balance in accordance with any changes in the lighting conditions and different illuminants. This ensures that the images with an appropriate color are always obtained. The SSC-DC80 provides an extremely wide ATW range of 2,000 K to 10,000 K, allowing adjustment-free operation under a variety of light conditions. Also, the camera feature preset color temperature settings and user-defined manual settings.

CCD IRIS

The CCD IRIS function allows the use of a manual iris lens instead of a more costly automatic iris lens. As the image brightness increases, the camera adjusts the exposure by automatically reducing the CCD photo sensor's exposure time (charge accumulation time). This is achieved by using the CCD electronic shutter, which has a range of 1/60 to 1/100,000 second.

Turbo AGC

The SSC-DC80 is equipped with an advanced Turbo AGC function. This allows users to boost the camera's

gain up to 28 dB, enabling viewers of the image to distinguish the subject more easily, even if it is shot in low light. The AGC mode is selectable from OFF, NORMAL, TURBO, or MANUAL. Activity Detection Function

The SSC-DC80 provides an activity detection function, which detects changes within an area of the picture designated by the user. When activity is detected, the camera superimposes a blinking "ALARM" indication on the video monitor and outputs an alarm trigger signal to external equipment. Up to three user-defined detection areas can be freely selected. The on-screen, superimposed "ALARM" message is 10 seconds in duration, while the alarm trigger signal output can be selected within the range of 0.5 and 10 seconds.

Privacy Zone Masking

With the Privacy Zone Masking function, unwanted or prohibited areas within an image can be masked. Up to two masking blocks can be freely selected in width and height. The masking areas are selectable from either the inside or the outside of the masking blocks.

Stylish Design

A stylish rear panel cover and transparent lens cap come as standard on the camera, so the camera will not detract from the natural decor of the room in which they are installed.

On-screen Setup Menu

Camera settings can be made through the on-screen menu using the cursor keys on the side panel of the camera. Up to two customized settings can be stored in the memory to quickly recall specific setup conditions.

Camera Title Indication

To easily identify individual cameras, users can assign a title of up to 24 characters to each unit, which can then be superimposed onto a video monitor screen. The position of the superimposed title is selectable from OFF, TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, BOTTOM LEFT, or BOTTOM RIGHT.

Custom Templates

To easily and quickly set up the SSC-DC80 camera, appropriate values for each of the following settings can be preset as a Scene: Exposure, Auto Gain Control (AGC), Back Light Compensation (BLC), Video Level, Gamma Curve, and White Balance. Simply choose the appropriate Scene from the menu, and the camera settings are automatically changed. The following six preset Scenes are available: Building Entrance, Office, Parking Lot, Subway, Lobby, and Station. Preset values can also be changed manually, providing users with the flexibility to capture images using more suitable values when necessary.

DC Servo/Video Servo Lens Compatibility

The camera is easily connected to either DC-servo or video-servo lenses.

CS-/C-Mount Lens Compatibility

The camera can be used with both CS- and C-mount*1 lenses so that users can select the appropriate lens type to match the monitoring applications. *1 Supplied C-mount adaptor is required.

Flexible Power Operations

The SSC-DC80 operates on 12 V DC power. If required, optional YS-W270A/W170A Camera Adaptors can be used with the camera to transmit video, sync signals, and power using a single coaxial cable for flexible operation.

Sync System

The SSC-DC80 features an internal sync and a VS (Video and Sync) /VD*2 for external synchronizations. The VD sync method contributes to easy installation since it eliminates the need for H-phase adjustment. *2 An optional YS-W270A/W170A Camera Adaptor is required to generate a VD sync signal.

Interfaces

The camera is equipped with an industry-standard BNC connector for composite video signals and an S-Video connector for higher-quality images.

The DEPA Platform Intelligent Video Analytics

The camera offers intelligent video analytics, based on the Sony DEPA platform. This comprises two elements: intelligent built-in camera functions, such as IMD and IOD, and rules/filters that determine which images should be recorded or when an alarm should be triggered.When the network cameras perform IMD or IOD, "tagged" objects and their associated metadata, including object position data, are sent either to the NSR Series recorder or the IMZ-RS400 Series software. These products then use the metadata, together with filters, to analyze object movement and to perform a predefined action, such as image recording or alarm triggering. This method of distributed processing minimizes server workload, network bandwidth, and storage requirements.

High-quality Images SuperExwave Technology

The camera incorporates an advanced 1/3-type CCD with SuperExwave technology that achieves extremely high sensitivity levels. The camera provides a minimum illumination of 0.6 lx in color and 0.06 lx in B/W at F1.3, allowing it to capture clear and detailed images even under low light conditions. The high-quality CCD imager, in combination with the camera's state-of-the-art DSP technology, produces a high horizontal resolution of 540 TV lines via the analog composite video output, which provides amazingly clear and detailed images.

Day/Night Function

The camera can switch from day mode (color) to night mode (B/W) by replacing its infrared-cut filter with a clear filter. Users can toggle between the two modes in different ways, either manually, on a predefined schedule, using an external sensor, or automatically in response to the scene illumination. When the camera is in night mode, it is sensitive to near-IR illuminators, allowing it to operate even in zero lx*1 conditions. *1 Zero lx means the absence of visible light to the naked eye. IR illuminators are required to operate at zero lx.

Dynamic Frame Integration

These cameras incorporate Dynamic Frame Integration (DFI) technology to reproduce clear images that contain both still and moving objects. DFI technology detects movement within the image and reproduces those areas with minimal blurring, while areas with little or no movement are displayed naturally with minimal jagged edges. This unique algorithm also takes advantage of the interlaced-scan CCD, which is inherently more sensitive than progressive-scan CCDs and can provide clear images even in low light conditions.

JPEG Picture Quality Settings With Constant Bitrate Algorithm

Users can preset the JPEG picture quality for these cameras from a choice of ten levels. In addition, because these cameras incorporate a constant bitrate algorithm, they can limit the data bitrate while still maintaining high-quality images. This is useful for calculating the required storage capacity and bandwidth during installation.

Flexible and Easy Installation Wall- or Ceilingmountable/Easy Viewingangle Adjustment

The camera can be easily wall- or ceiling-mounted.*2 Furthermore, because they are equipped with an analog composite output (RCA jack), the camera image can be monitored locally while the viewing angle is adjusted during installation. This makes focus and viewing-angle adjustment both accurate and easy. *2 Supplied bracket is required when the SNC-DF80 is wall- or ceiling-mounted.

Powerful 3.6x Zoom, Varifocal Lens

These cameras come equipped with a 3.6x zoom, vari-focal lens that covers an extremely wide range of viewing angles from 100.8째 (wide-angle) to 27.7째 (telephoto). This feature provides great installation flexibility for a number of different applications and locations.

Ball-Joint Lens Mount Technology

With the Sony patented Ball-Joint Lens Mount mechanism incorporated into the vari-focal lens of these cameras, the lens can be rotated freely in any direction. Unlike conventional cameras, it takes only one action to adjust the pan and tilt angles, allowing for quick and easy adjustment of the camera's viewing angle during installation.

Ruggedized Design

The vandal-resistant camera is housed in a heavy-duty, aluminum die-cast enclosure with an impact-resistant polycarbonate dome. It complies with the IP66*3 standard, and offers additional water resistance by using a special inner conduit for the camera cables. For cold-weather outdoor applications, the optional YT-HU75 Heater Unit is available. This allows the camera to be used in severe temperatures as low as -40 째C (-40 째F). *3 Ingress Protection (IP) standard is a system for numerically classifying the degree of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment against solid objects and liquids. IP66 means there is no ingress of dust and the equipment is protected against powerful water jets.

Operational Flexibility Selectable JPEG, MPEG4, H.264 Compression Formats

These multi-codec cameras support three compression formats: JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264. The industrystandard JPEG compression format is the best choice for high-quality still images. MPEG-4 provides clear moving images efficiently over networks when bandwidth is limited. And H.264 provides twice the efficiency of MPEG-4, for when bandwidth is even more limited.

Dual-encoding Capability

With a dual-encoding capability, these cameras can generate both MPEG-4 and JPEG images simultaneously. For example, the system can be set up to transfer MPEG-4 images over a WAN or an Internet VPN where network bandwidth is limited, while storing high-resolution JPEG images on a server that's configured on your LAN.

Bi-directional Audio

Users can connect an external microphone to these cameras in order to pick up audio from a preferred location. They are also equipped with an active speaker output, enabling users to sound an alert or make an announcement from the camera unit via a remote location. This significantly expands the possibilities of monitoring applications.

Voice Alert

The Voice Alert function allows users to upload up to three pre-recorded audio files to the camera. These can then be played out via a locally connected speaker upon an alarm trigger.

High Level of Security Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD)

The built-in IMD function can trigger a variety of actions, such as the storage and transfer of images or the activation of an external device through its output relays. False alarms caused by noise and repeated motion patterns are minimized thanks to an advanced Sony algorithm. Plus, when used in conjunction with DEPAenabled recorders or software, a multitude of filter functions are available. These allow you to initiate alarms

based on more specific movements, such as passing a virtual borderline or appearing into a virtual area. Intelligent Object Detection (IOD)*4

The camera can detect objects that have been abandoned or become stationary for a specified duration within up to four designated detection areas. This feature is useful for detecting suspicious objects left in public places, or for detecting stalled cars or accidents on the road. As with IMD, filters can be used to refine this intelligence if the camera is configured with DEPA-enabled products. *4 The intelligent object detection function and the intelligent motion detection function cannot be used simultaneously.

Sensor IN/Alarm OUT Ports

Equipped with a sensor input, these cameras can receive triggers from an external sensor. Also, two alarm relay outputs can be used to trigger external devices to perform a variety of actions.

Pre-/Post-alarm Image Storage

These cameras are capable of storing both pre- and post-alarm images on 16 MB of built-in memory or on removable storage media.

Network Security Features IEEE802.1X Compliant

The SNC-DF80 supports IEEE802.1X port-based network access control. This means they can be integrated to a network environment that uses the IEEE802.1X client-authorization protocol for security purposes.

Versatile Interfaces Analog Composite Video Output

These cameras can output an analog composite video signal via the BNC connector. This feature is ideal for outputting images to a local recording device or monitor.

Date/Time Superimposition

The date and time of images recorded by these cameras can be superimposed on the video while it is being monitored and recorded. This feature is ideal for easily identifying the exact date and time of an event during playback. Also because the information becomes part of the video image, it is a useful feature when providing video evidence to authorities.

File Export to Removable Media
