ISTH STRATEGIC PLANNING

The ISTH 2024-2028 Strategic Plan defines the following four priority goals that the Society has committed itself to focus on over the next five years:

Foster connection and collaboration within the field of thrombosis and hemostasis and across different fields of science and medicine, as well as involve, recognize and support early career professionals. This includes interdisciplinary interactions within the fields of hematology, cardiology, neurology, critical care medicine, molecular and cellular medicine, computer sciences and others. Broaden and intensify the reach and collaborations through a more intentional engagement with organizations in countries around the world and be even more welcoming to a wider and more diverse group of professionals, particularly from under-represented demographics. Empower our members to champion diversity, equity and inclusion, and to hold each other accountable to these commitments.

ISTH PRESIDENT PANTEP ANGCHAISUKSIRI, M.D. BUILDING ON OUR SUCCESSFUL LEGACY

il d)

I am filled with gratitude and pride for the incredible strides we made together in 2024 at the ISTH. My term as ISTH President began with great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility, and it has been a true honor to serve in this role.

The highlight of the year for me, both professionally and personally, was welcoming many of you to my home city of Bangkok, Thailand, for the ISTH 2024 Congress. The Congress was a tremendous success not only in terms of attendance and scientific exchange, but also in the meaningful connections forged among colleagues from around the world.

Throughout 2024, the Society made important progress on its strategic plan, which continues to serve as our roadmap for advancing science, education and clinical care in thrombosis and hemostasis. We are focused on expanding global access to resources, supporting career development at every level and creating more opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and regions.

I’m particularly proud of our efforts to engage more early career professionals and to ensure that the ISTH remains a vibrant, inclusive and innovative organization. We’ve also seen growth across all areas of the Society from the launch of new educational initiatives and guidelines to the increasing global reach of World Thrombosis Day.

The ISTH continues to lead with integrity and purpose, and that is a testament to the dedication to our members like you. Your contributions are what drive our mission forward, and I thank each of you for the time, expertise, and passion you bring to this community.

As we look ahead to 2025, I invite you to join us in Washington, D.C., for the next ISTH Congress. It promises to be another exciting opportunity to share groundbreaking science and strengthen our global network. Until then, thank you for making 2024 such a remarkable year. It is a privilege to serve as your President, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
