“Fish to 2030” projects and analyzes global and regional trends in fish supply and demand from 2010 to 2030, using state-of-the-art economic models such as the International Model for Policy Analysis of Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT). It predicts that in 2030, aquaculture will likely make up half of global fish supply and account for nearly two thirds of global fish food consumption. The report focuses on three themes: (1) health of global capture fisheries, (2) the role of aquaculture in meeting the global demand for fish and potentially reducing the pressure on capture fisheries, and (3) how changes in the global fish markets could affect fish consumption, especially in China and Sub-Saharan Africa.
