Our Community Is Changing – The Pregnancy Center Is Ready!

Dear Friends, Not too long ago, a new client came into The Pregnancy Center who was abortion minded. She had an appointment for an abortion and was ready to go through with it. But the Lord brought her to us.

Our excellent staff and volunteers spent time with her, explaining her options and what the abortion would do. Thankfully, after her time with us ended, she said she planned to cancel her abortion appointment.

When she entered our doors, this overwhelmed new mom was at her wit’s end and didn’t know what to do. She left The Pregnancy Center with a plan, new friends, and much more help and love than expected.

Abortion-minded women have either decided to have an abortion or are generally okay with the idea and would not hesitate to make an appointment. In the 30 years since The Pregnancy Center began, the number of abortion-minded women in Pickens County has been relatively small. But that is changing.

As Atlanta grows and moves north, we will see more abortion-minded women. Some estimates suggest Atlanta could double in size in the next 30 years. That means Pickens County is about to experience tremendous growth. And with that growth will come ever-increasing ministry opportunities. We’re already seeing this growth at The Pregnancy Center as our client visits continue to multiply, our Angel Babies Boutique experiences record sales, and our men’s coaching flourishes.

As we prepare for the next 30 years and beyond, we praise God for all He’s done to set us up for the future. As you’ll see in this magazine, we’ve come a long way in 30 years. Our Executive Director, Pat Page, has over 15 years of experience at The Pregnancy Center and has written an excellent piece to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

Where we can go from here is very exciting. We’re currently preparing to expand our facility into a medical center that will perform ultrasound imaging and pregnancy tests. These will allow us to minister to more abortion-minded women as the population grows. We’ll have more details on our expansion plans as the Lord’s timing allows. He is faithful and continues to work through our leadership to keep us moving forward wisely and prudently.

Thanks to our wonderful donors, staff, and volunteers, The Pregnancy Center is in the best shape it’s ever been to handle the growth coming our way. We have been able to serve more people than ever before.

Celebrating 30 years of Life!

Three Decades of Ministry in Pickens County, GA

Many years ago, a few ladies who worked as midwives had the vision to offer free pregnancy tests to pregnant moms. Their goal was to offer midwife services for those who might choose abortion do to a lack of insurance or a support system. After many years of working in the basement of a local church, The Pickens Pregnancy Center was incorporated to serve the women of the community. Thank you Dex Phillips, Margaret Parham, and Mary Ellen Childers for your vision to serve this community!

Phyllis Smith was the first official Executive Director who served from 1993-2002. Phyllis shared her story with me of how the Lord brought her to serve. She had moved to Big Canoe after 33 years of marriage but lost her husband one year after she moved here.

She decided to go to Kennesaw to get her nursing degree. Shortly after, she saw an ad in the Pickens Progress about the needs at the pregnancy center, and she responded to Dex and Margaret about serving. Phyllis had always been interested in women’s health, and she

saw this as a perfect opportunity to help women.

They said that if Phyllis would be the director, they would help her.

So Phyllis visited the Ellijay and Woodstock pregnancy centers and became inspired to lead the center in Pickens County. The staff was meeting in an old building behind the Jasper United Methodist Church. It was dark, damp, ugly, and depressing, with lawn chairs for their clients, and there was only $22 in the bank. After a season of serving, Phyllis talked to some of her friends at Big Canoe. They decided to have a fundraiser, so they hosted a “Community Sing” for people to come and perform at Tate Elementary School.

Phyllis started visiting churches and developed a working board, which assisted with fundraising.

She spoke at church groups, registered with the state to become a 501(c)3 organization, and re-defined the purpose of the pregnancy center.

A new program called Earn While You Learn was started, along with the diaper bag ministry and the baby clothes closet. Sarah Naff started teaching abstinence in the local high schools.

The Very First Client – A Life Saved!

Phyllis talked to me about their very first client.

It was a girl who had a small child, and her husband had left her. This client was living in deplorable conditions. She had a one-night stand and found out she was pregnant. She came to the center and told Phyllis that her only way out was to get an abortion. Well, the ladies at the center started praying and talking with her. This pregnant mom was told that God has plans for this baby and encouraged her to keep the baby and the women would help her. The

more they prayed, the more the Lord convinced her to carry her child. After she told the daddy about the pregnancy, he was on board. They had a baby boy together, and then a wedding that the ladies at the pregnancy center came to.

What a wonderful ending to a difficult beginning!

As the center was growing, their A/C went out, and ladies started telling Phyllis that she needed to get out of the hole in the wall where they were working. They reached out to Larry Johnson, who owned the building next to the Dairy Queen (that has since burned down), he agreed to rent the building to the pregnancy center. A mission conference that was held at Big Canoe raised the money to pay for the next year’s rent!

That was when Carol Hutchinson became the director. Phyllis had an urgent family illness and some needs that arose in 2002, so she told the board she had to resign. Carol was approached at church one Sunday and asked if she would like to be the director of the pregnancy center.

She accepted.

The Ministry Grows Carol began serving in 2002. She was gifted in graphic design, so she created the brandmark in our logo. She was also great at designing brochures and writing. She continued her relationships with Big Canoe and local churches. She hired Ralph Barker in 2008 to be the Development Director, and he served until 2019.

Robie Rens was volunteering as the Client Advocate Director during that time as well and faithfully served for over 15 years in that role. Carol had a vision to open a baby store to

take lessons at the Center that cover subjects ranging from pregnancy care, newborn care, and postpartum syndrome, to life skills, finances, healthy communication, and single and multigenerational parenting. We began Bright Course as well, which enables clients to earn Baby Bucks while taking online classes at home.

After a lesson, an advocate goes over with the client what was taught and how it applies to their specific struggles. With the client's permission, advocates are able to talk about the Lord, their faith, and pray with them. If clients desire, we can help them connect with a local Bible-believing church so they can engage with a community of believers.

When Carol first met me, she didn’t know that I had just completed 20 years of educating my four children and was praying about something to do for ministry and income. I had been in the pro-life movement since the early 1980s, and, together with my husband, helped start the Cherokee Country Right to Life organization along with Dr. and Mrs. Harry Davis. With a business degree and an event planning business and my heart for the unborn, I was ready to

serve the Lord in this life-affirming ministry! God truly does go before us and prepare us for His work!

Shortly after I became the Executive Director, we changed the name to North Georgia Pregnancy and Family Resource Center because it had become more of a resource hub for pregnant moms and parents. We were reaching out to more young people and hosting events to encourage sexual purity.

“Dream Big!” We were on East Church Street in a small rented building for many years until our fundraising banquet in 2019, when I expressed our need for a larger building. We were running out of room!

We had offices in closets, we added a small storage building for out-of-season baby clothing, we were still using lawn chairs in the counseling rooms and washing clothes in the kitchen in a small apartment-sized washer and dryer, and we had partitions put up between desks. The sorting room for the Angel Babies Boutique was a large closet with standing room only.

Many stories could be told about the countless clients we’ve had the privilege to serve and counsel at the Center. We’ve been able to reach more and more people in the community. We’ve also had more opportunities to speak and participate in local events.

We have built new relationships and added new staff and volunteers. Since our move, we have been able to expand our ministries. We have added: • • • •

A dear couple came to our banquet, heard our plea for help, and encouraged us to “DREAM BIG!” Dick and Sue Hammill were serious.

As many people know, The Hammill Family Foundation graciously bought and renovated our new facility directly across the street from where we were!

Since the move occurred in 2020 and the COVID shutdown basically eliminated in-person visits, we had time to move in, get settled, and change our name to The Pregnancy Center, since that is what everyone called us in the community! I rented a U-Haul, and volunteers helped load it up and make multiple trips back and forth to get all of the things out of our old facility. Many people from churches and the community helped to pack, move, clean, plant flowers, paint, repair things, decorate, and provide food and water, etc. We truly could not have done this without their help.

What a blessing this new building has been! We have used almost every square inch! The layout of the building is almost exactly what we need for The Pregnancy Center and the Angel Babies Boutique, with rooms upstairs to rent out!

There were previous years when we barely had enough income to pay the salaries of three people on staff. However, we have grown to nine part-time staff members, and the Lord never fails to provide our needs in every way!

We truly have the best, most dedicated staff and volunteers that anyone could ask for! Without them, we could not function at the level we do!

This ministry can bear a heavy burden at times when a woman calls and wants an abortion or wants to know how to get an abortion pill, or when a woman comes in and is not certain of the father of her unborn baby or has suffered an abusive relationship. However, we have also experienced great joy when we have a mom bring in her newborn on the way home from the hospital in an outfit that she earned with her Baby Bucks (“mommy money” earned at the Center, to be traded in for baby items), or a couple comes in to get the car seat they “earned” from taking so many classes! Or a dad starts asking more questions about how to be good father.

God Answers Prayer God has proven Himself faithful time and time again. I cannot tell you how many times we would pray for a specific need, and then that need was tangibly met by the end of the day.

One time, we had a renter move out, which left us with a deficit in our budget. Before we even finished our board meeting, another renter was in the wings wanting to rent a space.

When a shopper from the Angel Babies Boutique would call asking if we had a used pack-andplay bed and we did not have one, by the end of the day a pack-and-play bed would have been donated! The same thing would happen with staff or volunteer needs. During our prayer time every morning, the needs of the day would be addressed. Then, honestly, someone would stop in and say that the Lord kept prompting them to come by and volunteer!

I have seen so many answers to prayer. Our support from the community has been strong and our monthly and annual donors have been faithful. Together, they have increased our hope for the future and the services we can provide!

If There’s a Heartbeat, There’s Hope Never Underestimate the Power of ONE

By Suzanne Guy It’s hard to believe as we watch our vibrant, loving daughter that 25 years ago she was given a death sentence. Our daughter’s only crime was being sick before birth. What’s worse, that sentence came from the very people we thought would best see the intrinsic value of her life and fight for her.

Our story begins with years of infertility struggles.

After much crying out to God and seeking Him, He brought me to a place of surrender. It was not easy, but God gave me a joy-filled enthusiasm to love other people’s children through teaching, so I started to pursue that goal. What a surprise when,

after years of rushing to the drug store to buy countless pregnancy tests month after month, one day, the little line showed up on the screen.

My husband and I were elated, and we began telling people immediately. Because of all those years of infertility, I was told I needed to go to the best doctors at the best facilities. That’s precisely what we did, but we were in for a surprise. We were shocked to learn that not all doctors value preborn life – especially babies that receive a prenatal diagnosis.

The doctors devalued her life and insisted it was medically necessary to abort her.

My pregnancy started off fine, but I began to get horribly sick before the end of the first trimester.

Whenever I called my doctor to share how much I was vomiting, he assured me everything was normal.

My mother felt I needed to get an IV immediately, but every time I consulted my ob-gyn, he assured me that I was fine despite suffering from hyperemesis.

During one of my prenatal visits, he told me me that one of the prenatal tests he had done indicated there was a chance that our baby had Down syndrome. He wanted to do an amniocentesis.

A doctor from the practice – not my primary obgyn – came in. She frantically told me my baby must not have any kidneys and must have a chromosomal abnormality incompatible with life.

She said half my amniotic fluid was gone, and I needed to abort our baby. I immediately refused, though she insisted I had no choice and needed to abort as my baby would never live and I might die.

She and I went back and forth as she explained that my child was not the size she should be, must have a chromosomal abnormality incompatible with life, and could not live. I wondered why a doctor would tell me to take my child’s life just because she may not live. I refused repeatedly, and this doctor, in frustration, told me to come back two weeks later.

Once I left the appointment, I immediately called my husband in tears. He contacted my primary doctor to try to make sense of all this. The doctor explained to him that my lack of amniotic fluid was

I assured him that this condition did not matter to us. Even if the baby had Down syndrome, we loved him or her. We would not risk harming the baby with an amniocentesis. He was frustrated by that decision, which should have been a major red flag. At that point, however, my husband and I honestly had no idea that some physicians place value judgments on who is worthy of life and who is not.

My husband and I eagerly awaited our ultrasound appointment at 22 weeks to see our baby. Unfortunately, my husband was called out of town on a business trip at the last minute.

I decided to keep the appointment alone. Not long after it began, the technician left to get a doctor in the practice. I knew that was probably not a good thing, but I was unprepared for what would happen.

nothing to worry about and that I should just drink more water. This stunned me. Drink more water?

The other doctor told me several times to kill our child, and my primary physician said just to drink more water – what was happening? I immediately called my mother, a great lover of Jesus and prayer warrior, and shared this bizarre discrepancy. My mom and I began to pray specifically.

When we refused an abortion, she sent us to talk to another doctor in the practice. For over 20 minutes, in a bone-chillingly calm manner, this doctor insisted that we needed to abort our child. We repeatedly responded that we would not.

Two weeks later, my husband came with me for the follow-up ultrasound. The same doctor I had seen at the last ultrasound said I had no amniotic fluid. My husband experienced the same thing I had gone through two weeks prior. The doctor was even more frantic, claiming certainty that our baby had a chromosomal abnormality incompatible with life. She said that even if our baby lived, his or her lungs would be too premature to be helped. Yet again, she insisted abortion was the only option.

How curious to have to try and convince doctors of your child’s worth – to assert that she had not lost her value just because of a prenatal diagnosis. I thought I must be losing my mind or misunderstanding something. Who would ever think they would need to convince a doctor not to kill their child?

We were devastated. Devastated that someone in the medical field saw our child as disposable,

The doctor said again that we needed to abort, assuring us that we would have other children. I replied, “I don’t care if we have 100 other children.

went to school to help the sick, insist on ending a child’s life just because that child received a prenatal diagnosis and may not live much longer.

We went home and called my mom, who said, “Does the baby have a heartbeat?” I replied, “Well, yes.” Mom said, “If there is a heartbeat, there is hope. We pray!” These simple words would forever change the trajectory of our lives with our precious Rachel. We were never, ever going to abort, but these simple words breathed life into our situation and put our focus on the God of Hope, Messiah Jesus.

would not abort, so what would he do for us? He responded in an utterly calm voice that, in all his years of practice, no one in our position had ever not aborted.

To say that our hearts sank is an understatement.

To think of all those vulnerable parents looking to their doctors for guidance, hope, and help. Instead, they were told to abort as their only option. All those children’s lives were taken simply because of their location and health status. To this day, I cannot share this without tears.

It was clear then that the doctors had written off our family at this practice. At one point, when our primary ob-gyn was questioned about why he wouldn’t at least do testing to help our child, he responded that the only test he would offer would be an autopsy!

My husband and I went home with a depth of sorrow and disbelief that, to this day, I cannot put into words. It was shocking to hear doctors, who

A friend from church, also an ob-gyn, found a new doctor at a different practice to help us. This new doctor was committed to honor our request to fight for life. He and his colleague valiantly fought for our Rachel, and she was born alive via C-section at 26 weeks, weighing one pound two ounces. I remember saying over and over and over, “She is alive. She is alive.” She was in the hospital NICU for five and a half months. Those precious doctors, nurses, and therapists fought for her and loved her and our family with such kindness. They became family to us.

Rachel is now an adult and is the picture of health.

She is also a bold voice for all lives, and loves to help moms in crisis. Since her birth in 1998, I have been profoundly burdened for the preborn and women experiencing unplanned and crisis pregnancies. God used Rachel’s life to make us aware of the need for each of us to be God’s voice for the preborn and for women and men in crisis pregnancies who need to experience Jesus’ compassion and hope – the same compassion and hope that Rachel’s Grammy gave us, that changed our entire trajectory. No matter how long that child lives, no one ever regrets fighting for their child’s life. And abortion is never medically necessary.

Daily while Rachel was in the womb and daily for months afterward, we were told she would or could die. I remember saying to God that knowing

that we are fighting for her and knowing that we are embracing the moment that we are given with her is one of the greatest joys we’ve known.

No one knows how long we have. All we are guaranteed is this moment.

I remember one of the times I was sitting on a bench outside the NICU while the nurses were doing something with all the many tubes and lines hooked up to Rachel. One of the doctors sat next to me and said he was concerned that I seemed too happy. He wanted to ensure I understood that Rachel was still at significant risk of dying.

I remember saying with a smile that he could leave this hospital tonight and be hit by a car.

None of us knows when our last breath will be.

We must live and love in the moment we have been given, which leads to freedom from fear, and thankfulness for the time we have. Rachel’s life was and is used by God to teach us many things, but tangibly her life taught us not to live like someone is dead if they are still alive, and to embrace the moment God has given us.

There are no regrets when we fight for life and love with all our might in the time we have been given, knowing how precious time is and not taking it for granted. It’s okay to be scared, but don't let that stop you from fighting for your child's life. Jesus can turn us into prayed-up, freed-up, ready-to-love-with-our-whole-hearts individuals. He gives us a strength, a hope, and a love not of ourselves.

If a doctor ever says the solution to a child’s health condition is to end the child’s life, run for the hills. Abortion is not healthcare! A death sentence is never the answer! No child should ever be given a death sentence because of their health status and location.

What has happened to our medical field that doctors tell vulnerable parents to end the lives of their precious children? Doctors took an oath to do no harm. All doctors have a duty and responsibility to fight for all lives, not just those they deem to be of greater worth.

Parents must be their children’s advocates both inside and outside the womb. I encourage all women to make sure before they even get pregnant that they are in the hands of pro-life doctors that see the value of both patients – mother and child. If things get tough, they must use their power and position to fight for both lives. I am and will forever be so grateful that God led me to The Pregnancy Center. My experience there has been such a blessing – not only to me, but to my husband as well. I started going to The Center for parenting lessons when I was just six weeks pregnant, and have continued to visit once a week since then!

With this being my first pregnancy, I was pretty much clueless about caring for a baby. Now I feel much more prepared, and know what to expect – all because of the resources The Pregnancy Center provided my husband and me.

The wonderful women there have been so gracious. They have prayed for me and my baby boy at each visit, with love and support for everything I’ve gone through with my pregnancy. The informative video lessons are such a helpful resource as well!

Each time I earned Baby Bucks, it allowed me to shop at the Angel Babies Boutique and get useful items such as maternity clothes and an infant car seat. That and getting to pick out supplies at the Mommy Store after every lesson have been huge blessings since my health has prevented me from being able to work while pregnant.

Being a single-income family now with a new baby on the way added a lot of stress, but God has shown up in incredible ways through the men and women serving at The Pregnancy Center. I can’t thank them enough for the work they’re doing to help the community, and how greatly it has impacted me. I believe the services provided would benefit every woman, whether married or unmarried, and whether pregnant with her first baby or third!

Breaking “Dad Molds” That Don’t Work As I’ve met with men at The Pregnancy Center, I’ve found one common attribute in every man I’ve counseled. Each of them has been molded by their dad to see the world in a particular way. ~ By Doug VonBehren While we might not want to admit it – in fact, we may not even be aware of it – the first and foundational things we learn about being a dad we learn from our own fathers. “True to Life Productions” addresses that very issue in one of the training videos that we offer to our clients entitled “Being a Father: The 2 Questions.”

This video says: “Each of us has had a father experience – even if that experience was his

absence. And that father experience, regardless of what it was, directly affects how we parent our own children.” These molds can be positive or negative. Take my dad, for instance.

When I was just a baby, my dad chose an adulterous relationship and alcoholism over his family. My mom left, taking me with her. Growing up without my dad had a profound impact on my life. The impact went much deeper, lasted longer,

and impacted more people than I could ever have imagined.

My father’s absence created a mold. When I became a father, I didn’t realize – or perhaps I chose to deny – the profound influence that my dad’s abandonment had on my life. I was allowing that abandonment to impact the way that I related to my wife and to my children.

I didn’t leave my family as my dad did. But I effectively abandoned them by focusing on work.

I was able to achieve a level of success in my business career, but my home was falling apart.

As one person summed it up, “I was getting A’s on my report card in the world and getting F’s on my report card at home!”

In God’s perfect timing, at just the same moment that my business career was poised for unprecedented success and a level of income beyond what I had ever imagined, my marriage and my family collapsed under the weight of my sin. And just like my dad, I had a choice to make.

Would I choose “success” and an income that I had never even imagined, or would I follow Jesus Christ’s invitation to “FOLLOW ME” on a path to an unknown destination.

Fortunately, throughout my life the Lord has brought men into my life who have filled parts of the void left by my dad’s abandonment of our family. Those men included my grandfather, coaches, businessmen, farmers, and others. I am profoundly grateful for their impact on my life.

All these men sacrificed some of their own time, energy, talents, knowledge, and resources.

Those things could have been used for their own benefit and enjoyment. Taking the time to try to make a positive impact on another person’s life is not without cost. It takes time, energy, and sacrifice, but thankfully they all chose to pour some of what they had into me! And it changed the bad mold my father left me.

When my life hit this crossroad, their influence and the Holy Spirit led me to Romans 12:2: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern[s] of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.” (NIV, 1973) Jesus knew my patterns (or the mold that had shaped me) better than I did or probably ever will.

MAKING AN IMPACT A Brave Young Woman Chooses Life After speaking with Sierra at our initial meeting, we saw a very courageous and thoughtful young woman. The Client Advocates that met with Sierra noticed a bravery and determination as she talked with us about the circumstances surrounding her unplanned pregnancy.

It wasn’t until our second meeting with Sierra that we realized just how vulnerable she was in being willing to share her journey of single motherhood with us.

Sierra explained how she suddenly found herself expecting a baby and was considering abortion. In fact just days prior to making the abortion appointment, she had a conversation with a trusted friend about getting the abortion. Sierra’s friend shared her own abortion story with her and how emotionally devastating it was and continued to be even years later.

Sierra gave her friend’s experience some serious thought and never went to her abortion appointment. Instead, she got an ultrasound and saw her baby. At that moment Sierra knew this baby was meant to be.

No matter what lies ahead, Sierra decided to choose life for her baby as well as saving herself from untold emotional trauma that could have been the result of an abortion.

Her bravery has been admired and commended by her Client Advocates at The Pregnancy Center. It is a privilege and honor to come alongside Sierra as she embarks on this journey. No doubt she will be well-supported and loved by the friendly Client Advocates ready to give her hope and encouragement.

Thanks be to God that He enabled me to respond to Jesus’ invitation to follow Him! The journey was more difficult, the pain more excruciating, and the darkness of my wounds were all more intense than anything that I ever imagined. But God, through His mercy, grace, power, forgiveness, and healing, is so much greater than all those things. He has brought me healing, freedom, and a relationship with my bride that I never even imagined could be realized. To God be the Glory! We enjoy times together with our family that would have never happened if I had chosen the other path.

Of course, there are always consequences to every decision we make. In this case, we never regained the financial wealth that I turned down to follow Jesus. But He replaced it with a wealth that money cannot buy! God’s (and my family’s) forgiveness of my sins has enabled our family to heal, but there are scars. And there’s hope for even more healing and forgiveness to come.

The good news is that nothing is wasted in God’s economy.

He has largely broken the mold my father created, and is molding me into His own child, which includes serving our clients at The Pregnancy Center. Most of the men who come to The Pregnancy Center are influenced to one extent or another by a negative “father experience” in their life.

We have several training videos that address this issue from a variety of perspectives. Those videos include the aforementioned “Being a Father: The 2 Questions” and the “Parenting Without Shame” series.

The example set by those other men in my life giving of themselves to help me taught me that helping others and meeting the needs in their lives requires giving of myself and my time. When God has given us something of value, He intends for us to use it for His Glory and for the good of others. In John 7:37-39 “Jesus said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’”

I started looking for groups, people, or someone to help.

A Unique Way to Help The Pregnancy Center The Pregnancy Center is focused on bringing tangible help and spiritual hope to women in need and their families. We are so thankful for the local churches who come alongside us and support the ministry God does through the center. We walk hand in hand with each church to promote life and encourage families to follow the Lord and worship Him with a local congregation.

But we need your help to deepen our relationship with your church. Won’t you

consider volunteering as an ambassador for The Pregnancy Center in your congregation?

What is an ambassador? Ambassadors are volunteers who help communicate with the leadership of their church concerning any important events at The Pregnancy Center.

They also help communicate these events to the congregation of their church. Here are a few things you can do as an ambassador (you don’t have to do all of these):

While some people find fundraising difficult, you can make it quite easy and fun.

Promote the events that occur at The Pregnancy Center. Invite/encourage people in your church to participate in these events.

Talk with church members who may have questions about The Pregnancy Center events, services, and volunteering; and refer them to The Pregnancy Center for further information.

•

When able, help arrange opportunities for The Pregnancy Center staff to speak and/or have an information table at your church.

•

Pick up promotional materials from The Pregnancy Center and deliver them to the appropriate people at church for approval and promotion/distribution.

Connection •

Act as a point of contact for women and men that are connected with your church through The Pregnancy Center programs, welcoming them and getting them acquainted with your church, its programs, etc.

•

Act as a long-term support system for women, men, and couples referred to your church by The Pregnancy Center. Help them link to other moms, women’s and men’s ministries, small groups, etc.

•

If there are individuals within your church facing pregnancy decisions or desire help with a pregnancy loss, help connect them to The Pregnancy Center.

•

Show hospitality to new attendees of your church. Talk with them about biblical truth and how it applies to life or connect them with mature and faithful Christians in your church who are gifted at doing this.

•

Baby bottles are perhaps the easiest way to fundraise for The Pregnancy Center. Kids and adults alike love to take the bottles and fill them with change, dollars, and even checks. All you have to do is hand them out and then find an easy way to collect them.

•

Announce fundraising events such as our annual banquets, Walk for Life, and other events to your church leadership, and invite people to participate.

•

For the annual banquet, consider hosting a table and inviting people from your church to sit at your table. You can also encourage other people in your church to host a table.

•

Promote and run diaper drives (diapers, wipes, and baby clothes) at your church.

Simply announce the drive and provide an easy drop-off location for people in your church to donate diapers and wipes to The Pregnancy Center.

•

Become a regular donor to The Pregnancy Center and see how the Lord uses these funds to grow His kingdom through The Pregnancy Center and your church.

It sounds like a lot, but again, you don’t have to do all of these. You can make the job as big as you want. It can be extremely effective for both the church and our ministry.

Our ABB staff and volunteers are always available to find exactly what clients need. If we don’t have it, we wait for it to come in and then we call and let them know – especially with larger items like port-a-cribs, strollers, high chairs, and nursing mother items.

I have known our staff to listen and pray with our customers for quite a while because they had no one else to turn to. We also point them to a rack of free small booklets on a wide range of helpful topics. And we serve foster families that have a baby or child who requires emergency items such as clothing or diapers or formula. We are here to help!

We have been able to come alongside troubled people who lost their babies, their children, their spouses, their health, their income, and every life situation you can think of. We often refer them to classes at TPC (in the same building) if they are pregnant or have little ones. The ABB store serves
