Carolina Creek As part of our desire to help our children grow closer to God, and develop spiritually and socially, we take our 2nd through 5th grade students to a team-building day at Carolina Creek Christian Camp in Huntsville, Texas. We have worked with Carolina Creek for five years now and the trips have always been a great success. On our most recent trip, students participated in a low ropes course featuring small and large group activities requiring them to solve problems as a community. The activities were fun and engaging, but also challenged the students to really work together.

During this time, camp counselors lead the children, and teachers are asked to stand back and let the kids do the problem solving together. The idea is that they learn that every member of the team brings something to the activity. God gave each of us unique gifts for His purpose, and together, all God’s children form the Body of Christ. The children learn that when we work together as the Body of Christ, we can be more successful in the tasks at hand.

Lower School News Fish, Water and Bubble Gum Lower school students are using all of their senses to learn about science! Mrs. Mahan’s first grade class identified the parts of a fish by examining real fish. They also used hand lenses to look at sea salt. They used their sense of taste to compare salt water and fresh water. Using the scientific inquiry model, fourth and fifth grade students in Mr. Roach's science class tested two types of bubble gum to determine which type made the largest bubble. Students had to first learn how to

blow bubbles, then understand which measurement to take in order to contrast the two. They were given the problem and then developed their own hypothesis of which gum would be the best. Through the experimentation phase they collected data to develop results and create their conclusions. Which gum was the best? Try it for yourself and see! Warrior Cross Country Update What a great showing at the Cooper Dragon Invitational on Saturday! Most everyone was near (or surpassed) their goals and times. In addition, special recognition to our medalists:  Logan Shearer and Hannah Shearer (pictured below at left), Chris Ogelsby, Josh Ogelsby, and Ben Mueck!  In addition, our girls varsity team earned 5th place overall (out of 24 schools represented) and our middle school boys’ team (see photo below right) won! We are also using the cross country program as a ministry to each other:  high school to middle school, one-on-one sharing of burdens, and small group prayer.  Please continue to keep our team in your prayers.  We have a few girls that are struggling with injuries that are holding them back from making full use of all the gifts God has given them.
