THE WOODLANDS THE WOODLANDS
CHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY A C A D E M Y OCTOBER 19, 2012
Head Of School Notes -- by Julie Ambler
In August 2010, our senior leadership team (Mr. Zeal, Dr. Hunter, Mrs. Allen, Coach Hollas and I) developed a three-year strategic plan for our school. While many improvements are ongoing, I am pleased to report that we have already accomplished the majority of our specific, short-term goals. Here are some highlights:

We defined and significantly tightened our admission criteria. We expanded our marketing reach by enhancing our website, establishing a Facebook page, building a larger sign on Highway 242, sponsoring special events and advertising/publishing articles in The Courier, The Villager, VYPE, Woodlands Lifestyles & Homes, Community Impact, KSBJ, newcomer’s guides, etc. We have been active participants in the community through Rotary, Interact, the Greater Woodlands Chamber, Leadership Montgomery County, the Economic Development Partnership, the Montgomery County Coalition of Christian Schools, Interfaith, the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), etc. We hosted area pastors and local leaders on our campus with private lunches/tours and special events. We earned accreditation from ACSI. We revamped our Bible curriculum, enhanced chapels, and added hands-on service projects. We offered Bible studies, information meetings and book studies on campus for parents. We upgraded curriculum and are preparing curriculum guides and maps through Atlas software for all subjects and grades. We hired an outstanding faculty and offered extensive faculty training on integrating a Christian worldview, classroom management, and differentiated instruction. We sent them to content

specific conferences and classes. Our faculty members have achieved individual teaching certifications through ACSI. We’ve seen solid improvements in our standardized test scores, college acceptances and merit-based college scholarship offers. We integrated technology into the classroom through professional training, computer labs, MacBooks and SmartBoards. We grew our band, theatre, and art programs. We restructured our athletic department for better communication and equity between sports. We significantly expanded our girls’ sports programs. We incorporated educational trips to locations ranging from Carolina Creek to Big Bend, Florida, Washington DC, Ecuador and London. We revised our handbooks, simplified our dress code, and raised our behavior expectations. We opened a school store, The Armory. We repaid the construction loan on the Nehemiah Academic Center, revised our campus master plan and began the first stage of our next capital expansion project.
Next October, educators from AdvanceEd (formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and ACSI will visit our campus to renew of our school’s accreditations. Afterwards and with their recommendations, we will develop our next strategic plan. Ultimately, we strive for continuous improvement in all areas of our mission to equip well-rounded warriors for Christ – spiritually, academically, physically and socially. We thank you for your trust and partnership in this journey.
