A C A D E M ACADEMY Y CHRISTIAN OCTOBER 4, 2013

A Note From Kellie Armstrong, Director of Development Since beginning my role as the Development Director, a little over six months ago, I have been in awe at the commitment, generosity and kindness of spirit which permeates this campus. What a genuine privilege it is to work at Woodlands Christian. As Development Director, I am dedicated to supporting the mission of Woodlands Christian by nurturing lifelong relationships with our alumni and families; securing financial resources through our Annual Fund, Auction and Gala, capital campaigns, and other funding initiatives; and promoting Woodlands Christian in our community. Kellie Armstrong

This week we kicked off our 2013 Annual Fund campaign. We are so honored to have Rob and Tania Bryngelson chairing this year. The Annual Fund brochure, which you received this week, lays out our goal of raising $200,000 to bridge the gap to cover our operating expenses. This year, we are reaching for an even higher goal. Our recent capital campaign allowed us to enclose the pavilion to create a second gym. Despite that success, we did not raise quite enough funds to install gym flooring and air conditioning. Since a fully functioning gym is a priority, anything raised over $200,000 will be applied to the new flooring, and anything over $275,000 will be applied to the air conditioning. Our Big Audacious Goal is to raise $375,000! Over the next few weeks, we ask that you pray for the success of the Annual Fund and for your family’s thoughtful contribution. As in the past, we are seeking 100% participation from our parents. You will be able to see how your child’s grade is doing by checking out the brightly painted windows in the MPR or by visiting our website. We also have some fun incentives planned:

The lower school grade that reaches 100% first will enjoy a pajama day with movie and popcorn.

The middle school grade that reaches 100% first will have a RECESS (or social time as they call it) and Chick-fil-A.

The high school grade that reaches 100% first will enjoy an off campus lunch.

Each grade that reaches 100%, will be treated to an old fashioned ice cream social.

Finally, because we REALLY want to finish the gym for our children, we will arrange for a special field trip for the grade that raises the most money!

Please mark your calendars for our 20th Anniversary Auction and Gala at The Woodlands Marriot on April 5, 2014. I am pleased to announce that this year’s event will be chaired by Julie and Price Ambler. The Amblers have been involved with the school for 14 years. Both of their children are Woodlands Christian alumni; and they are active supporters of our school and community. Additionally, we are so grateful to have the support of our past chairs, Candi and Andre Guilbeau and are excited to announce that our 2015 Auction and Gala will be chaired by Laura and Nick Vanderpool. I am looking forward to working with these couples and the many volunteers to coordinate a fantastic night. Our 2013 theme is The Roaring Twenties! As a final note, please take a moment to visit the giving section of our website which has recently been updated. Here you can learn more about the giving philosophy of our school, Annual Fund, Auction and Gala, capital priorities, endowments, matching gifts and many more ways to give to our school. View Giving here. On behalf of the students that benefit from your support every day, thank you for your interest and commitment to The Woodlands Christian Academy, and for making my job such a genuine joy. Many blessings,
