THE WOODLANDS THE WOODLANDS

C H R I S T I AACADEMY N CHRISTIAN A C A D E M Y MAY 9, 2014

Head Of School Notes It is a year-end tradition at Woodlands Christian for the Head of School to discern and announce a spiritual theme for the upcoming school year. The hope is to perceive a theme that will guide our school, faculty, and students to grow more like Jesus in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52) Throughout the year, we reinforce these themes in chapel, staff devotions and the classroom. This past year our school has rejoiced in 20 years of abundant blessings from God. He has given us a beautiful 40-acre campus with new and expanding facilities, incredibly generous families, a dynamic faculty, glowing affirmation from ACSI and AdvancEd, record enrollment with wait pools, a favorable reputation in the community, and a Christ-centered mission to equip our students to discover their unique gifts and talents so they can best serve Christ’s kingdom for eternity. Our amazing students have received impressive college acceptances and scholarship offers; lead worship, Bible studies and mission trips; participate in competitive athletic programs; shine in a myriad of creative fine arts endeavors; and enjoy authentic relationships with their faculty and peers. But amidst these accomplishments and accolades, it is easy to forget that God is the true source of our blessings. We have done nothing to deserve them. I want our students to understand that they have been chosen by Him to live in

America and South Montgomery County, to attend Woodlands Christian, to study the Word of God, to be supported by friends and family, and to be smart and healthy, because He has a plan and a purpose for their lives. Our students are lavishly blessed, and God wants to love and guide each one of them to stand firm for Him and to make wise decisions in an egocentric and prideful culture. According to Psalm 25:9, God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way. James 4:10 further states that if you humble yourself before the Lord, He will lift you up. Therefore, our theme for the 2014-2015 school year is humility and our scripture verse is from Micah 6:8b “And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” I believe that God is choosing to bless The Woodlands Christian Academy community and, if we continue to submit to His leadership and walk humbly with Him, He will lift up our school and our students in due season to make an eternal difference for Him. I pray that both the kingdom of God and the greater Woodlands community will be blessed by the humility demonstrated by each one of us during this season of prosperity.
