A C A D E M ACADEMY Y CHRISTIAN JUNE 28, 2013

Head of School Notes -- Julie Ambler Greetings! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. We are busy at Woodlands Christian preparing for your return in August.

SLI is making excellent progress on the construction of our new classroom building. They have already completed the foundation and have begun erecting the steel (see photo below). Please follow us on Facebook to watch our progress. We are still anticipating completion of the building in December and moving all of our 1st through 8th graders into their new classrooms after the Christmas break. We have hired some wonderful new teachers to join our already amazing faculty. We highlight half of them in this newsletter and will feature the remainder in our July newsletter. We feel truly blessed to have attracted so many outstanding educators who are experts in their fields, passionate about Jesus Christ and devoted to inspiring their students. I am very pleased to announce that Woodlands Christian will begin operating its own cafeteria this fall. We have hired a professional chef and staff to manage our new Warrior Café. Chef Sean Smith, who has over 15 years of food service experience including Executive Chef at NASA, looks forward to offering a wide variety of healthy food, larger portions

and a more professional dining experience for our students. Concurrent with upgrading the look of the cafeteria, we are renovating the stage, sound and lights in the MPR to enhance the usability of this space for the many activities that happen here, including fine arts performances. We are moving The Armory to the Timothy administration building and, in addition to the wonderful spirit items, will begin carrying a limited supply of school uniforms from Lands’ End. We are making significant improvements to our technology infrastructure. By moving all of our server-level support offsite and making improvements to our connections on campus, we look forward to faster internet service, the ability to handle significantly more traffic, regular back-ups, 24/7 oversight and troubleshooting, fewer email crashes, automatically updated software, more advanced spyware, better filters, etc.

An exciting new school year is on the way and I pray the rest of your summer vacation is a blessed one.
