Head of School Notes -- Julie Ambler Although it’s still awfully hot outside, summer vacation is almost over and, at Woodlands Christian, we are busily preparing for your return. We have never been more excited to start a new school year. God has blessed us with wonderful students, a tremendous faculty, and a myriad number of physical improvements to our campus. •

Please join us on Wednesday, July 31, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for our Back to School event. In addition to seeing lower school class placements, shopping for uniforms, visiting The Armory, meeting other families, and signing up for volunteer opportunities and after school activities, we invite you to go out to the construction site and sign the beams of our 28,000 square foot classroom building with prayers and scriptures. In response to parent surveys, we are changing the start of school time to give our upper school students more time for lunch. Upper school will begin classes at 8:00 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30 p.m. Lower school students will continue to start classes at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal will begin at 3:20 p.m. These staggered times will also help us to better manage car line when our 1st through 8th grade students move into their new building in January. Thanks to the generosity of so many families at our fundraisers last year, we are able to enclose our pavilion in order to add another gym, which will relieve the many demands on our current gym! Construction should be complete concurrent with our new building, by early December. It is our hope to add a new sports court and air conditioning to this second gym next summer. Chef Sean and his team are busily renovating the kitchen and planning the grand opening of the Warrior Café. Please

try some samples at the Back to School event and see page two of this newsletter for more details about our new lunch program. We have redesigned the stage in the MPR and are awaiting the installation of new lights and a sound system. These improvements will greatly enhance our chapel and fine arts programs. To help transport our growing student population to off-campus competitions and events, we have added a spacious 14passenger bus to our fleet. We’ve enclosed the open area downstairs in the Nehemiah Building to accommodate large meetings and joint classroom projects. •If you’ve ever stood near our bell system when it’s time to change classes, you will be thrilled to know that we have installed a new paging system. Not only can we select a more pleasing sound for our bells, we have improved our on-campus security with the ability to page all rooms on campus as well as outdoor areas. We highlighted six new teachers in last month’s newsletter. Please see page three of this newsletter to learn about some of our other fantastic new educators. We appreciate your patience these past few weeks as we have moved our technology infrastructure offsite and made other improvements on campus to provide faster, more reliable service. We sincerely apologize if we have missed any of your emails. If so, please don’t hesitate to call us. Hopefully, everything will be fully operational before the start of school.
We are blessed to serve your family. Please enjoy the rest of your summer, and get ready for a fantastic school year.
