Nursery enjoyed an outdoor learning session this week. They had to find twigs, pine cones and lots of other things and investigated whether they would float or sink. After, they put their hands in the water and made lots of water hand prints.

This week, the Pre Nursery children have been enjoying getting involved in messy play.

Reception have been learning about sea creatures. They worked together to find information about different creatures, using the internet and books, to create their own fact file.

This week our Year 1 candidates for the House Poetry Competition recited their poems to the class. Everyone did a fantastic job and all the effort put in by the children was very impressive.

Year 2 have been composing soundtracks in their ICT lesson using the programmes 2Beat and 2Sequence on Purple Mash.

It was very busy in the Brontë science lab this week. Year 5 spent time investigating the 'apparent disappearance' of certain substances when placed in water!

This week Year 5 tested which materials were the best insulators using ice cubes. They weighed the ice cube at the beginning, wrapped up the cubes up in 4 different materials and left them on the radiator for 30 minutes. They then weighed the cubes at the end to see which material worked the best as an insulator.

In their humanities lessons, Year 6 have been investigating earthquakes and learning about why they occur. This week, the children became engineers and attempted to design 'earthquake friendly' structures. They were very successful!
