Army Veteran EVELYN AIKENS EPPINGER I am Evelyn Aikens Eppinger, I served 22 in the United States military, I served 11 active years in the US Air Force and reached the grade of Technical Sargent I went Reserves and later transferred to the Army, calm down there is a method to my most of my decisions. Air Force had me all over the world and as a parent of now two sons. Mom first was my then motto. Both of my son’s share the same birthday August 22, they are ten years apart. Hence the new “Labor Day” in our household. Back to transitioning to the Army, I met two Doctors during my civilian job who talked to me about how liberal the Army was. I believed them as well as I was chasing an officer position. The Army welcomed me, with several disappointment, reduction in rank and off to Desert Shield / Desert Storm. So much for staying close to home. I survived, came back to my government job, held a grade 13 for a year or more and move on to a teaching position in New Mexico. My degree is in science, however NOT “Nano Technology or Robotics.” I survived and thrived around the high school students. And now my life mission is to mentor young girls who have aged out of “foster care” in the STEM initiatives as well as provide temporary housing here on the Ranch. Army  Veteran : Muria Nisbett

Hello and thank you for you time. My name is Muria Nisbett and I am a social worker and Army veteran. I am also a mother and an entrepreneur. I have recently created what I called a women's empowerment movement called 'Be Your Own Person'. The goal is to empower women of all ages 5adulthood to embark on a journey of self-discovery, find out who they are, learn tools to help them search within themselves for validation, and reject the negative messages in society. I have created three products to accomplish this. 1. The Pledge is a journal for little girls to help them identify their unique characteristics that make them who they are, and helps them to practice self love. 2. The Talk Bracelet is a mother and daughter bonding tool. It includes a journal and a charm bracelet with 7 charms. Each year the daughter gets a new charm for the bracelet, and the journal has age specific talking points and conversation starters to facilitate bonding. This is done from age 12-18. (this was created by my daughter and I after she attempted suicide due to bullying). 3. The Happy Hour Series is a full length novel with three stories of empowerment. First story is about answering the question Who Am I? The second story is about rejecting the negative messages around you and believing that you are enough just as you are and there is no need to alter your persona to fit the expectation of others. The third story is about letting go of past hurts and failures that keep you trapped in unhealthy behavior patters and limits your ability to be happy. Air Force Veteran Tammie Ellerbe Entrepreneurship Interview

WWS Magazine: When and why did you start your Company (What's the Name of Your Company) TE: My husband and I started Enhance-U Beavercreek Sports Performance Academy on Feb 10, 2018. Our top priority is to be good role models for our boys and even bigger role models for the community at large. This mindset led us to open a training facility that encourages athletes to Grind On All Levels (GOALs) on and off the field, in the classroom and in life. A business venture that employees over 5 fitness instructors, 2 college interns and has already trained over 200+ local athletes.

WWS Magazine: Name 2-3 challenges faced starting out. TE: The first challenge was finding the right location at an affordable price. We searched for months until we found the perfect location that exceeded our expectations. The second challenge is translating military success into the civilian sector, I had over 20 years of meritorious service defending this country, now I must start over and build networks, business partnerships, and an organization from the ground up. WWS Magazine: Does/did any of your Military training and or experience prove to beneficial on this journey? TE: My training and experience from my 20+ years in the Air Force has definitely provided me with the tools to be a successful entrepreneur. While serving, I had the opportunity to lead the Air Force’s most valuable resource…it’s people. As a business owner, I lead the best and brightest customer service professionals while providing exceptional service to our deserving customers. WWS Magazine: Can you recall some of your most rewarding moments thus far. TE: The most rewarding moments have been centered around our amazing youth. Day after day, I get an opportunity to see the kids push each other mentally and physically and seeing the confidence level go up as they master the drills and then utilize the attention to detail regime in everyday life. An added bonus, is having the athletes and parents contact us because they heard how great the training and atmosphere is at Enhance-U, which is accredited to our A+ staff. WWS Magazine: Where do you see your Company in the next five years? TE: In the next five years, I see the number of clients tripling and my business expanding its services to include after school tutoring and providing transportation options for less fortunate families and athletes. WWS Magazine: Have you always been entrepreneur minded and or wanted to become a business owner? TE: I have wanted to become a business owner since high school to allow me to empower those around me. I have had so much help throughout my journey and have never forgotten to “pay it forward”. I also aspire to be a positive role model for my children, peers, and my community. WWS Magazine: Share a few Words of Wisdom for fellow Women Veterans wanting to become an Entrepreneur. TE: My words of wisdom for fellow Women Veterans wanting to become and entrepreneur is to remain fearless while chasing your dream so you don’t have to ever ask yourself…what if? Also, remember this quote from Oprah Winfrey to help push you into your destiny: “The biggest adventure you can live is live the life of your dreams.”

Army Veteran Renee Ellender My name is Renee Ellender. I served at Fort Stewart, Georgia, I also deployed to Mosul, Iraq from 2009-2010. I am glad to have served my country and met people I will forever call my family. I am currently a full time college student, working towards my goal to becoming a psychologist. The military shaped me into the woman I am today I am forever grateful for that. Everything I do, I do for my daughter, I want to lead her by example. For all of the veterans struggling out there you are not alone, suicide is not an option there are 22 too many. For me I know that without the love of God I wouldn't be here today. We need to have each others back regardless of race, age, religion, because when its all said and done we all bleed the same color.

Navy Veteran Nancy Bullock-Prevot My name is Nancy Bullock-Prevot. I was born in Eustis, Florida, and raised in Fitzgerald, Georgia. I enlisted in the Navy in August of 1994. In 1996, I reported to Cryptologic Technician Collection “A” school in Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida. After graduation I was stationed at the National Security Agency (NSA), FT. George G. Meade, in FT. Meade, Maryland, as SIGINT Analysis. I was transferred to the Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Yokosuka, Japan, I worked in the analyst lab. I relocated to NSGA Norfolk, Virginia, as a direct support operator. In 2004, we deployed for over 240 days onboard the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67), in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Global War on Terrorism. In the following year, we deployed for 210 days onboard the USS NORMANDY (CG-60), in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2007, I relocated to the USS McFAUL (DDG-74), Norfolk, VA. There we took part in the Operation Assured Delivery in 2008, our mission was to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Batumi, Georgia during the Ossetia War. In 2009, I was assigned to the Center for Information Dominance, Pensacola, Florida, as an “A” and “C” school instructor for Cryptologic Technician Collection. In October 2011, I reported to the Pre-commissioning Unit (PCU) USS SOMERSET LPD 25, named after flight 93 the last of the 9/11 ships. As a plank owner and the first Chief CTRC onboard the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25), I assisted in the building of the Operations Department and OT Division. As the first Chief for the OT Division, I served as principle advisor to USS SOMERSET’s Commanding Officer and the Operations Officer on their security programs and cryptologic matters. As a retired (2015) United States Navy veteran with over 20 years of service I wanted to continue serving my country. In August of 2016, I founded The H.E.R. (Honor, Empower, and Rebuild) Foundation, which I formed to help homeless female veterans in Northwest Florida. As a woman veteran, I believe that women veterans are the ones who are often forgotten. “People forget that women served just like their male counterparts and fall on their luck in the same way”. I wanted to do something to help women veterans that are struggling with a variety of obstacles that led them to homelessness, while knowing that could have easily been I. HER is ready to help the homeless female veterans by providing affordable housing and other services that may lead them to establishing a successful future. She is the wife and best friend of her late husband Patrick A. Prevot, Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret.).

Navy Veteran Cathy Orcutt

I joined the Navy two years after high school. I was the only female in my Quartermaster A school and honestly, that same situation is one I've faced in civilian life too. After A school I was stationed on the USS Acadia AD-42 in San Diego. I spent the last two years of my enlistment working as a military police officer at the Naval radio transmitter facility at Capas-Tarlac in the Phillipines. After separating from active duty, I was fortunate to be hired as a 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatcher at the Linn County Sheriffs Office. Nearly 30 years later I am the Communications Manager at the agency and looking at retirement. I am about to embark on my 3rd act doing something different and I am excited about that. I've had the privilege of doing some amazing things and I volunteer in many ways including wish granter with Make a Wish, volunteer at the veterans home, Altrusa and I am the volunteer ambassador for Oregon for WIMSA.
