As we close the summer season of 2021 and go into fall, I am sure you can feel the sense of being ‘back to school’.

In fact, October 5th if International Teachers Day and is the perfect time to celebrate the power of mentorship and learning.

I don’t know if you still remember your first ever school teacher, but I know at every stage of my life my teachers, mentors and educators left an impression and a mark in my life.

As we reflect on the year we just had to think about who has made the most impact in your life, business and career this year. What has worked well and led to new opportunities or the birth of new ideas.

Equally, what are some of the things that maybe did not work so well and requires reevaluation and change.

OCTOBER AWARENESS MONTH Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) October was first declared as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989. Since then every year DVAW is acknowledged as a way to connect and unite individuals and organizations working on domestic violence issues to support domestic violence survivors and be a voice for its victims while raising awareness for those issues. Over the past 30+ years, much progress has been made to support domestic violence victims and survivors, to hold abusers accountable, and to create and update legislation to further those goals. We advocate for more awareness and covering stories of women with similar experiences and welcome you to contribute your voice to our community.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month An annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Join us as we RISE together to help uplift women in need.

It’s time to RISE The past year has posed a challenge to just about everything, and breast cancer prevention is no exception. Although we saw setbacks in screenings and early detection, we’re rising to the challenge together.

When it comes to personal brand, what sets you apart and creates more value to you as an expert, speaker or a coach is the authority you have in your field. This may be in a form of influence in your area of expertise, within your industry, network or community.

Clarity - every well-known brand stands for something or is known for something.

What is your personal brand known for?

Is there a signature about your brand presence that stems across everything you do? Communicate with clarity and your brand will soar.

Values - in order to have a strong brand you need to have values and ethos that you do not compromise. What key values do you govern your life by? PARIS IN SEPTEMBER

Visiting Paris this September was truly a magical experience, being incredibly lucky with warm fall weather, I found myself in the middle of the Paris Fashion Week staying in the middle of the infamous The Avenue des Champs-Élysées - that is known for its fashion homes for many brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton and many others.

As I discovered Paris is not only famous for its rich culture but also its cuisine and fine dining. Whilst in the city I got to enjoy few wonderful dining experiences and taste its local food.

Of course, no trip is complete without shopping, so I got to visit one of my USA favourites for cosmetics and selfcare products. I rediscovered an incredible French makeup and perfume brand that is later mentioned in the Self Care section within our recommended products. A perfume I bought to complete the look of my cover image dress.

If you are looking for a weekend escape, a special self-care weekend and want to feel like a true Diva entrepreneur - I would certainly recommend Paris for a short few days stopover, or a perfect girlfriends shopping getaway.

Paris isn't just for a romance ;) Whilst in Paris I would highly recommend visiting L'Avenue restaurant as an upscale bistro for classic French dishes, with an outdoor terrace popular for people watching. I mean, of course, you are in Paris.

When in Paris I would recommend trying local cafes, little shops that sell French delicatessens. I would highly recommend learning basic communication in French and local customs when visiting France.

ven before a global pandemic pushed millions of women out of jobs and millions

of girls out of school, female economic security was far below that of their male counterparts. Globally, women make 77 cents for every dollar earned by a man, and according to a January 2020 Oxfam report, men own 50% more wealth than women.

The funding gap has been even worse for female-founded businesses. The World Bank estimates that while women-owned enterprises account for more than 30% of

registered

businesses

worldwide,

only

10%

of

female

entrepreneurs

have

enough capital necessary to grow those businesses.

Durreen Shahnaz knows these statistics. Born in Bangladesh and educated in the U.S., Shahnaz started her career on Wall Street in the late ’80s and saw firsthand how the financial markets can change lives—and how the vast wealth the markets were creating were not reaching the world’s women. She went on to work for microfinancier Grameen and, in 2009, founded Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), a private placement platform to invest in “last-mile” female entrepreneurs around the globe. While IIX has invested $215 million across 53 countries and helped, by her estimate, millions of female small business owners, Shahnaz is most proud of a financial instrument she created on the cusp of turning 50: a women-focused bond series.

In 2017, Shahnaz launched the $150 million Women’s Livelihood Bond Series with a goal of using debt securities to drive more sustainable livelihoods for women in developing countries. She priced the third bond in the series in December, and is eyeing a fourth this fall.

“You can have deep impact, you can have women in the front and center of financial markets, and you can have sophisticated products that give you financial return and does good as well,” says Shahnaz, now 53.

It is this forward thinking and this impact-driven investment thesis that have landed Shahnaz a spot on our 50 Over 50: Investment list. Produced in partnership with Mika Brzezinski’s Know Your Value initiative, this list highlights women over the age of 50 who are changing the face of finance and creating new ways to move and make money.

To establish the final list of 50 financial rainmakers, we were guided by the scores and insight provided to us from our three judges: Grameen CEO Andrea Jung; fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg; and Janice Bryant Howroyd, founder of Act One and one of America’s richest self-made women. Forbes editors helped refine the list, weighing a multiplicity of factors, from the scope and scale of a nominee’s work to her impact on the world at large.

Many of the women on the list share Shahnaz’s goal of fostering a more inclusive financial future and increasing women’s economic participation.

When it comes there are many ancient and outdated concepts of money, where many of the misconceptions and money mindsets that do not serve us stem from. Like there is a limit on how much money is available or possible to us. Or how our self worth is attached to money. In this article let's look at what money is - and isn't and how we can view money as a valuable tool instead of something we fear to make, control and manage. It all starts with awareness of what money means to you.

Remember Money is not good nor bad, is it simply a tool, a resource and a representation of value exchange. Money does not define your personal value, it merely represents the value you offer via your product or service. It is about the value that your customer receives from you that the price is attached to. Therefore it is not related to your personal value or self worth.

Money is energetic exchange and something that can represent two people or business commitment to each other to execute a transaction and exchange value. Once your client has paid you the fair amount for the fair value - it then becomes a commitment that you both promise to honour.

The important part about money is not just knowing how to make it but also managing it and multiplying it as well as spending it wisely.

Understanding how to make money and make it work for you is an art. I spent many years re-investing back into my business and being a true visionary entrepreneur. Some investments work out and others don't. But knowing how to manage your money is an essential skill that all women need to learn and understand.

Remember, numbers is just another language that tells a story - story of your business and personal financial stability. Your runway and possibilities, to invest and live the life you choose to live, because you have built a sustainable source of income and your investments are paying off.

Continue to pay attention to your mindset as your financial growth happens, as many times fear will get in the way of making more money or asking for more. Remember, money is just an energetic exchange and a tool to reward you for your impact and transformation in this world. The value that you give.
