BRONCO TRACK & FIELD is...

The Western Michigan track and field team has produced at least one All-American during the three of the past four seasons, with Irene Cooper on the cusp of earning it in the 20-pound weight throw. Traditionally, the Broncos have competed in high-profile national events like the Penn Relays, Drake Relays, Meyo Invitational and the Tyson Invitational. Through head coach Kelly Lycan’s tenure, the WMU track and field program has become notorious for nationally ranked 4x400 teams and even boasted the no. 4 ranked shuttle-hurdle relay team by Track & Field Magazine in 2009.

Victoria Chatman won her first MAC title in the 400 meter dash and Sarah Morris qualified and competed at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in the discus for the first time in her career. Brown went on to break her own school record in the 400-hurdles at the Mideast Regionals The 2008 campaign was possibly the best season win WMU track and field history, with the Broncos producing three All-Americans, finishing 31st at the outdoor NCAA Championships ahead of such notable programs as Texas, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Iowa and many others. Two local products, Becky Horn of Battle Creek and Danielle Brown of Kalamazoo, had a chance to compete at the United States Olympic Trials. Since being named the Broncos’ fifth cross country/track and field coach on August 2, 2001. WMU achieved its highest finish ever at the MAC Championships by placing second at both the indoor and outdoor Championships in 2008. The outdoor team scored the most points by a second place team in the history of the meet by dominating the sprints and hurdle events. The 2008 season saw Horn finish in third in the nation in the 800 meter run at the outdoor NCAA Championships, improving upon her fifth place finish at the indoor NCAA’s. Horn garnered the third All-American honor of her storied career, along with Danielle Brown, who earned her first All-American plaque by virtue of finishing seventh in the nation in the 400 meter hurdles at the outdoor NCAA’s. Brown broke a ten-year old school record in the 400 hurdles. Both Horn and Brown teamed up with Jennifer Sabra and Victoria Chatman to form the stellar 4x400 squad, which broke the WMU and MAC all-time records while running the fourth fastest time in the nation indoors (3:34.88) and running even faster (3:33.57) outdoors. Since Lycan’s arrival at WMU, the Broncos have dominated the long sprint events in the MAC and in 2008 they achieved an unprecedented sweep, finishing first, second and third in both the 400 hurdles and 400 meter dash. Western Michigan had three individuals and one relay team qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2007. The first All-American since 1998, Becky Horn advanced to the semifinals in the 800m run, while Kristalyn Mauch and Danielle Brown reached the event in the shot put and 400m hurdles, respectively, with Mauch breaking the school shot put record along the way. WMU sent two student-athletes (Alexis Brown, Irene Cooper) to the USA Junior Nationals for a third-straight summer in 2007. Both earned All-America status at the event. Cooper, Ashley Hunault and Victoria Chatman returned in 2008, with Cooper winning the hammer throw and Hunault earning All-American status in the long jump. In 2005, the Broncos finished fourth at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the program’s highest finish in 18 years. Prior to his arrival, the Broncos finished 164 points out of first place at the MAC Championships. Just two years later, Lycan, 48, led the Broncos to the very brink of the championship, finishing a mere 16 points from a MAC title.

In 2004, Lycan advanced seven athletes to the NCAA Mideast Regional in Baton Rouge, La. His expertise in the quarter mile events was evident as a WMU athlete won the MAC 400 meter title for the fourth time in six outings while the 4x400 relay qualified for its second straight NCAA Regional. The Broncos’ cross country squad had one of the best seasons in school history in 2006 by winning three straight races to claim the first three-win season at WMU since 2002. Jill Odom won the George Dales Invitational to give the Broncos their first meet winner since 2004. During the 2005 cross country season, the Broncos finished sixth at the MAC Championships with Odom earning All-MAC recognition as a freshman.

COACHES BIOGRAPHIES

The 2005 season saw Lycan send six individuals and a relay to the NCAA Mideast Regional in Bloomington, Ind., as the 4x400 squad qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time in three years. The mile relay claimed dual MAC titles, winning indoors and outdoors while setting MAC records both indoors and outdoors. WMU also produced its first-ever heptathlon champion (Katie Pickette) and sent a pair of athletes (Becky Horn, Kari Richards) to the USA Junior Nationals.

In 2004, Lycan coached a pair of All-MAC cross country performers in Meryl Marsh and Rachael Lowe, the first Broncos to earn such honors in 10 years. He also led WMU to first place finishes at the Valparaiso Invitational and George Dales Invitational. In all, Lycan’s squads have collected six cross country titles in five seasons. In 2001, WMU defeated Notre Dame in a home dual meet. Lycan has coached 38 individual MAC Champions and relay squads in his eight years at WMU, ending a school drought of MAC Champions which had stretched back to 1997. The 2003 indoor and outdoor seasons were highlighted by 23 school records. Lycan put together the fastest 4x400 in the state of Michigan, a group that won the MAC Championship and qualified for the NCAAs — becoming the first WMU relay to qualify for the national meet. Another first for the Bronco program was the crowning of WMU’s first-ever female Drake Relays Champion in Sarah Hinkley (10,000 meters). Before arriving at WMU, Lycan spent seven years (1993-00) as the top assistant at Ball State University. During those years the Cardinals won a total of seven indoor and outdoor MAC Championships, where he tutored 41 individual MAC Champions. Lycan has also experienced great success at the elite level, having coached former Ball State star LaTasha Jenkins to an NCAA Championship in the 200m in 1999. Her time of 22.29 is still the American collegiate record, making her the fastest American college woman ever. Lycan also coached Jenkins in 2000, when she teamed up with Marion Jones to set a world record in the 4x200m relay and later qualified for the finals of the 200m at the 2000 Olympic Trials. Lycan began his coaching career at the University of Arkansas (1983-90) where he helped take the Lady Razorbacks from the bottom of the Southwest Conference to a team ranked by Track and Field News as one of the top-20 in the nation. Lycan also spent time as the men’s assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State (1993-94) and was an assistant at Eastern Michigan (1992-93). A native of Wooster, Ohio, Lycan received a bachelor of fine arts degree in creative writing from Bowling Green in 1981, while lettering in football and track. He still ranks third in kickoff return average, averaging 25.9 yards during the 1981 season. Lycan went on to earn his master’s in creative writing from Arkansas in 1990. Still an active competitor, Lycan finished third in the 110m hurdles for athletes ages 45-49 at the U.S. National Master’s meet in 2006, and also finished second at the 2005 U.S. National Master’s Decathlon championships. Kelly and his wife Nicole, a high school track and field coach, are the parents of two children, a daughter, Clare (11) and a son, Grady (9).

GRIFFEY ASSISTANT COACH (THROWS) Sixth Season Western Michigan, 2004

Now in his sixth season with the Broncos, Griffey has taken a nearly nonexistent throws program and has grown it in to one of the best in the MAC. One of Griffey’s latest stars is Irene Cooper. Cooper had never touched a hammer before arriving at WMU, in 2008 became a National Champion in the hammer throw at the USTAF Junior Nationals and qualified for the World Junior Championships in Poland. After three seasons, Cooper is already the WMU school record holder in the hammer throw with 194 feet, seven inches and in the weight throw with 65 feet, 10.25 inches and is poised to become one of the nation’s elite 200 foot club in the hammer. Griffey helped Cooper reach the 2009 Indoor NCAA Championships in the weight throw, watching her finish in 10th place and nearly being named an All-American. Last season saw Griffey help then sophomore Sarah Morris qualify for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in the discus for the first time in her career. Under Griffey, Morris has turned in the second-best performance in school history in the discus with a distance of 160 feet, nine inches. In 2006, Griffey helped Kristalyn Mauch to a 10 foot improvement, extending her personal best in the shot put from just over 40 feet, to a school record 51-7.25. Under Griffey’s guidance, Mauch had an outstanding senior year, winning a MAC Championship in the shot put and then finishing in third at the NCAA Regionals, while qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif. In 2005 he coached Kristi Ford to a school record in the indoor weight throw and a runner-up finish at the indoor MAC Championships. He also helped Ford to a school record in the hammer throw and a berth to the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship. An expert technician in all the throwing events, Griffey also tutored Kari Richards to the NCAA Regionals in the discus in 2006 and helped her improve to the third spot on the Broncos all-time discus list. Griffey’s previous coaching experience includes seven years (1998-04) at his alma mater, Hopkins High School. As the head coach at Hopkins, Griffey developed 12 conference champions, four regional champions, nine state qualifiers, two state champions, a state record holder and two junior national meet qualifiers. Under his direction, Hopkins’ student-athletes broke 14 school records in the throws, helping the program rise to the upper echelon of the OK Silver Conference. In addition, Griffey was a football assistant on the 2002 Division 6 state runner-up team. Griffey, 31, actively competes and holds the shot put and discus records for the West Shore Athletic Club. He remains an avid power lifter. A native of Hopkins, Mich., Griffey received a bachelor’s degree in physical education from WMU in 2004. He and his wife Cori live in Kalamazoo with their son, Michael, 4, and daughter Emma, 1.

Gone are hurdle and sprinter stars Danielle Brown and Jennifer Sabra, once again leaving the Broncos to replace key components from a previous successful season.

BRONCO BREAKDOWN

“I am excited,” said head coach Kelly Lycan, who enters his ninth year at the helm for Western Michigan. “We are going to be a different team this year. In some of the events that we have traditionally been successful we have lost some great studentathletes. But in the distance events we will be improved.”

Odom is also coming off a strong showing during the cross country season and the senior will also be looked upon for a leadership role. Also returning is senior Jennifer Roberts, who finished fifth in the 5k and fourth in the 1,500 meter run at last season’s outdoor championships. However, Roberts is only eligible for the indoor season, having exhausted her outdoor options.

THE THROWERS WMU returns eight scorers from last season’s indoor and outdoor Mid-American Conference Championships. Senior Irene Cooper returns for her final season with the Broncos and has been a scoring threat in the MAC since she set foot on campus. After finishing third in the 20-pound weight throw at the indoor MAC Championships, Cooper went on to the NCAA Indoor Championships and just missed out on a topeight position, finishing in 10th and barely missing being honored as an All-American. Cooper broke her own school record in the weight throw and also holds the WMU record in the hammer throw. She went on to place at the outdoor championships, placing fourth in the hammer throw and later competing at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships.

“While we only have her for the indoor season,” Lycan added. “She is really ready to assert herself. She struggled with some injuries during the middle of her career but did a great job of keeping at and is being rewarded.”

Junior Stephanie Mitchell made great strides during last season, seeing her greatest improvements in the shot put. Juniors Linsay Bloor and Sarah Morris also return, but expect to mainly contribute during the outdoor season. Bloor was WMU’s top thrower in the javelin, while Morris was the top discus thrower. Morris qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in the discus for the first time in her career last season.

“Every year is different,” says Lycan. “Some years we are great at the longer sprints, but this year I think we will be improved in the short sprints.”

THE HURDLERS “Losing Danielle and Jennifer are really going to hit us in the hurdle,” commented Lycan. “You had an All-American with Danielle and Jennifer nearly made it to that level last season. While it is going to be tough, I think our short-distance hurdlers may be an area of strength.” Getting a chance to try the hurdles this season will be junior Ashley Hunault. Hunault had primarily competed in relays, sprints and jumps for the Broncos in her previous two seasons. “Ashley responded well when we started her on the short hurdles in practice last season,” Lycan added. “She really worked hard in the off season and is a very versatile competitor for us. She’s going to be used a lot.” Also returning in the hurdle area is Alexis Brown. Brown is primarily a middle-distance hurdler and competed in the 400-meter hurdles during the outdoor season. Brown was also a part of the shuttle hurdle team that was ranked fourth in the nation by Track & Field News last season along with Amanda Fenton. THE JUMPERS While Brown shined in the 400 hurdles, she got her first action in the long jump and triple jump last season and excelled. The Otisville, Mich., native scored in the triple jump at the indoor MAC Championships as well as in the pentathlon and is also WMU’s top high-jumper. Hunault finished in second place in the long jump at both the indoor and outdoor MAC Championships last season and will be relied upon to in the triple jump as well. Sophomore Stephanie Okolo made her mark in the sprints last season but also got her feet wet in the long jump and the triple jump.

country season that saw her fell just .02 seconds short of being named All-MAC.

THE DISTANCE RUNNERS Coach Lycan is hoping that an influx of freshmen will help a group of distance runners that had struggled to score points in the past.

Junior Jenna Matthews also returns after a strong cross country season. THE SPRINTERS With runners like Becky Horn, Danielle Brown and Jennifer Sabra, for the past several years the Broncos have dominated the middle-distance sprints like the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash. Western Michigan has several option in the 800, including freshman Jeriesha Tucker, a top runner her senior season in the Detroit area.

One of those top short sprinters is junior Victoria Chatman. Chatman finished in second place behind Brown in the 400 dash at last year’s indoor MAC Championships. However, Chatman bested her teammate during the outdoor season and earned her first individual MAC Championship title in the 400 and also went on to finish in third place in the 200 meter dash. Leya Munwam also contributed, running in the 400 several times last season, but will get a chance to compete in the 800 this season. Okolo struggled with consistency during the indoor and outdoor seasons but finally hit her stride at the outdoor MAC Championships, finishing in sixth place in the 200 meter dash and fifth place in the 100 meter dash as a freshman. Freshmen Iris Campbell and Cha’nese Mendenhall will also get chances to compete in the short sprints. THE RELAYS A source of pride, both in the MAC and on the national level, has always been WMU’s 4x400 meter relay team. The team of Brown, Chatman, Munwam and Sabra handily won both the indoor and outdoor MAC titles, finished in the top 20 in the nation during the indoor season, and finished in seventh place at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships. Despite losing both Brown and Sabra, Lycan has found a way to plug in new runners and not miss a beat. WMU may have to plug in two for the 4x400, but the reigning MAC champion 4x100 meter team from last season remains mostly intact with Hunault, Okolo and Munwam all returning. “In the past our 4x400 team has always been the one on the national level,” said Lycan. “I think the 4x400 will be just as good as previous years, but I think this year our 4x100 team takes it to that next step on the national level.” Alexis Brown and Amanda Fenton also return from WMU’s nationally ranked shuttlehurdle relay team.

Kelsey Burgess, Cara Cremeans, Erika Jensen and Rachel Whitney all injected new blood in to the cross country team and will hope to do the same during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. As much as the freshmen may help, a bigger factor may be a healthy Samantha Tomerlin and Jill Odom. Tomerlin helped the distance medley team score at the indoor MAC Championships last season and is coming off a cross

Caroline Mullen came to WMU in 1986 after Lamar dropped track. She is one of only two MAC harriers (man or woman) to win three individual titles. In 1986, she earned All-America honors by finishing third at the NCAA Championships. A native of South Westmeath, Ireland, Mullen also competed in track, finishing fourth in the 5,000 meters at the 1987 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Mullen was inducted into the WMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. One of the finest cross country runners in school history, Maggie Lillie-Smith twice earned All-MAC honors. She won the MAC in 1984 and was runnerup in 1986 to teammate Caroline Mullen. LillieSmith was a member of three consecutive MAC championship teams (1984-86). She ran the fastest 5,000 meters in WMU history in 1984 (16:49) and holds the Arcadia record (17:05) - considered one of the most challenging courses in the MAC when it was WMU’s home in the 1980s.

KANLEY TRACK & FIELD COMPLEX OUTDOOR TRACK

Pine View, located in Three Rivers, has been home to the Broncos since 1997. The five-kilometer course caters to fast times due to its firm footing and flat fairways. Pine View hosted the MAC Championships in 2000.

The Kanley Track & Field Complex serves as the outdoor home to the Broncos. It features a 400-meter Olympic model Martin-surface track, the Alumni Track Building and permanent lights. The field features a completely contained events competition area and excellent viewing for spectators. The complex underwent a massive renovation project in 1993 and hosted the MAC Championships in 1995.

BRONCO ALL-AMERICANS

Kay Barstow became the first Bronco to earn All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the high jump at the 1979 AIAW Championships. Barstow still holds the WMU indoor high jump mark that she set in 1979 and is third on the outdoor list with a jump of 5-8. Barstow was also recently honored by WMU, being inducted into the Western Michigan Hall of Fame in 2008

KAY BARSTOW

Danielle Brown became Western Michigan’s eighth All-American when she finished in seventh place in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Brown broke former WMU All-American Phyllis Brooks’ record in her journey to All-American and was also able to participate at the 2008 United States Olympic Trials. Earlier on in the season Brown was a MAC Champion in the 400 hurdles and just missed out on first place in the 100 hurdles. Brown also ran lead-off for the 4x400 relay team that broke the All-Time WMU and MAC records for both indoor and outdoor.

DANIELLE BROWN

Brown ended her career with the Broncos winning MAC titles in the indoor 400m dash, the outdoor 400 hurdles and as a part of both indoor and outdoor 4x400m relay teams. She made it back to the outdoor NCAA Championships in 2009 but fell just short of being named an All-American once again in the 400 hurdles.

Phyllis Brooks became the fifth WMU All-American when she finished 11th in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1997 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She was named the MAC Athlete of the Meet at the 1997 indoor and outdoor championships. Brooks holds indoor marks in the 55-meter hurdles, 200-meter hurdles, long jump, pentathlon and sprint medley relay. Outdoors, she is first in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, and heptathlon. Her record for the 400-meter hurdles stood for 10 years before Danielle Brown broke it on her way to being named an All-American.

2010 Western Michigan Gymnastics

Kathy Beauregard, the Director of Athletics at Western Michigan University, has been involved with the Broncos in several capacities over the course of the past 29 years. She is the second-longest serving athletic director in the Mid-American Conference.

KATHY BEAUREGARD

Beauregard arrived in Kalamazoo as a coach before moving into administration and is entering her 12th season as mentor of one of the top programs in the MAC.

Along with four MAC titles (men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s tennis) in 2003-04, the Broncos also enjoyed an increased level of success in the classroom. WMU’s graduation rate of 83 percent in 2003 ranked eighth nationally and featured a program grade point average of nearly 3.00. On the playing field in 2002-03, the athletics campaign was highlighted by a pair of conference titles in women’s basketball and softball. The men’s basketball team also made a postseason appearance, competing in the National Invitation Tournament. Postseason appearances by the WMU football, volleyball and men’s tennis team highlighted the program’s 2000-01 athletic competition.

WMU athletic facilities have greatly improved under Beauregard’s leadership. The $8-million dollar Bill Brown Football Alumni Center and the $21-million Seelye Athletic Indoor Center have benefited numerous sports teams and provide top-notch facilities for Bronco student-athletes. The locker rooms at Lawson Ice Arena were renovated and completed over the past year and the department continues to raise funds for the Hyames Field Renovation Project. WMU is in the midst of building a two million dollar state-of-the-art facility and Field Turf was also installed at Waldo Stadium during the Summer of 2006.

The 1999-2000 campaign was highlighted by the football team’s West Division title and trip to the MAC Championship. The women’s tennis squad captured the MAC Tourney title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year and the women’s basketball squad made its second-consecutive appearance in the WNIT.

Heavily involved in her profession, Beauregard assumed the chair position of the NCAA Olympic Sports Liaison Committee in 2001, a position which she held for two years. She represented WMU as a member of the NCAA Championships Cabinet and NCAA Football Bowl Certification Committee and currently serves on the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Previously the senior associate athletic director (1993-97), she supervised all revenue sports, the University’s compliance with NCAA rules, academic services, student-athlete welfare, and athletic marketing and communications.

The 2008-09 year saw the Bronco volleyball and men’s tennis programs capture regular season MAC crowns. The volleyball team advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Tournament, while the Bronco football team participated in its second bowl in three seasons and the men’s basketball team won yet another MAC West title.

In just her second year (1998-99), Beauregard provided support which helped the Bronco men’s athletic squads jump from 10th to first place in the Reese Cup standings, giving Western Michigan a share of its first all-sports trophy in 17 years.

Beauregard initially came to WMU in 1979 as head women’s gymnastics coach. In nine seasons (1980-88), she produced two MAC title teams and was twice named the conference’s coach of the year. Beauregard has been active in numerous community service organizations, including Kalamazoo Rotary, the American Heart Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Glowing Embers Girl Scouts Council.

The 2007-08 academic year saw success within the department, on the playing field and in the classroom. WMU Athletics announced the renovation of historic Hyames Field. Heading into the future, the facility will be known as Robert J. Bobb Stadium and will undergo $2.0 million of work over the next year. Renovations to Sorensen Courts, Fran Ebert Field and upcoming work to the men’s basketball locker rooms all highlight Beauregard’s dedication to moving WMU Athletics forward.

Honored by numerous organizations throughout her career, Beauregard was awarded both the Woman of Achievement Award (YWCA) and Athena Award (Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce) in 2002.

Athletically, WMU’s tennis programs found success yet again with both winning a regular season MAC title and the men’s program capturing the tournament title to earn a berth in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Both Dave Morin and Besty Kuhle were named MAC Coaches of the Year for the second-straight season. The men’s basketball and women’s volleyball programs captured MAC West titles during the past athletic season. A pair of Bronco track student-athletes earned All-America honors with Becky Horn earning the nod during the indoor and outdoor seasons and finishing third in the 800m at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

In 2000, Beauregard received the Hope College Distinguished Alumni Award from her alma mater.

Beauregard is a native of Kalamazoo and graduate of Loy Norrix High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College in 1979 and a master’s degree from WMU in 1981.

She and husband, Rick, have a 18-year-old son, Brad, who will attend WMU in 2009. Rick retired from Kalamazoo Public Schools after 32 years of service and began Beauregard Home Services in the Fall of 2006.

Beauregard ensured the longevity of WMU’s football and men’s basketball programs by restructuring Bill Cubit’s and Steve Hawkins’ contracts in 2007 and 2008, respectively. WMU Athletics also welcomed Tasha McDowell as the fifth head coach of WMU’s women’s basketball program in 2008. Academically, WMU boasted a pair of Academic All-Americans in Anthony Gebhart (first team) and Joe Reitz (second team). Gebhart was the first football representative since 1998. Volleyball, baseball and gymnastics finished in the top 10 among other like programs in the APR and WMU football had the highest APR score in the MAC for the 2006-07 campaign. Overall, 415 student-athletes finished 2007-08 with a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA. In 2006-07, men’s and women’s tennis not only repeated as MAC Tournament champions but captured regular season titles as well. Both Morin and Kuhle earned MAC Coach of the Year honors. The WMU football team participated in the program’s first postseason bowl game since 1988. The Broncos boasted three NCAA statistical champions in five categories — Ameer Ismail (FB - sacks and tackles for loss); Carrie Moore (WBB - points per game) and Mark Letestu (HOCKEY - freshman scoring and short-handed goals). Western Michigan continued to pursue excellence in the classroom in 2006-07 as 26 student-athletes in 14 sports earned Academic All-MAC status. WMU had five of its programs honored as being in the top-10 percent in their respective sport in the announcement for their excellence in the classroom over the years identified in the most recent APR; baseball, men’s basketball, gymnastics, women’s tennis and volleyball. The Broncos boasted five academic all-district selections and a pair of academic all-americans in Joe Reitz and Carrie Moore. Moore and Ismail earned All-America status in their respective sports with Moore receiving honorable mention for Kodak All-American and Ismail earning Second Team AP All-American. In 2005-06, Beauregard oversaw a department that captured the Jacoby Cup Trophy, awarded to the top women’s program in the MAC based on sports standings. WMU has now won the Jacoby and Reese (men’s overall sports award) trophies during Beauregard’s tenure. The Broncos garnered three regular season titles — gymnastics, softball and women’s tennis and two MAC Tournament titles — gymnastics and women’s tennis. Under Beauregard’s direction, WMU also won its 100th MAC title all-time in 2005-06.

The 2004-05 athletic campaign continued what has become common place at Western Michigan. Team and individual success began in the fall and continued through the spring, highlighted by a MAC Championship in women’s tennis. The strength of the women’s programs as a group allowed WMU to finish second in the Jacoby Cup.
