WKU Turning Point USA chapter to host vigil for Charlie Kirk

WKU Turning Point USA

WKU’s chapter of Turning Point USA is hosting a candlelight vigil in memory of Charlie Kirk Thursday, Sept. 25 on South Lawn, the organization announced on Instagram Tuesday.

Kirk, a popular conservative political commentator and founder of TPUSA, was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

WKU Police began investigating the “wkupisser” TikTok account on Wednesday, Sept. 10, Captain Paul Burden confirmed in an interview with the College Heights Herald.

The popular internet trend of students recording themselves presumably urinating on campus property made it to WKU on Sept. 6. Accounts such as “the.jmu.pisser” at James Madison University gained traction in late August, with eight videos eclipsing 40,000 views and one with over 1.3 million.

Stewart discusses student involvement at SGA

WKU Director of Athletics Todd Stewart spoke on the state of student involvement at WKU Athletics events Tuesday at the WKU Student Government Association meeting.

“We ask people to support our programs,” Stewart said. “It has to be a two-way street, and everybody within the athletic programs takes a lot of pride on having an impact in our community.”

Hilltoppers celebrate ‘All Around the World’ for Hispanic Heritage Month

Representatives of Latin American countries around the world gathered near the Colonnade Monday to share their foods, arts and culture in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 that gives recognition to the many contributions Hispanic and Latino communities and individuals have made to the history and culture of the United States. This includes important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods and much more, according to the National Museum of the American Latino.

at the Greenwood Mall hosted an event Tuesday evening for students to “suit-up” for their future.

The event marked the start of JCPenney’s annual deal with WKU’s Career Development Center, which gives students a 30% discount for business apparel. The discount is active for three months, starting in September and ending in November.

Wayne Simpson, associate director of the Career Development Center, said an average of about 350 students utilize the deal each year.

WKU Volleyball swept by Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt swept WKU Volleyball Tuesday night in Diddle Arena. It was a back-and-forth battle, with each set being decided by four points or less.

The Hilltoppers struggled from the service line, committing fourteen service errors.

“The difference in the match was from the service line. We either served the ball or jacked it out of bounds by 12 feet,” Head Coach Travis Hudson said.
