English Club holds annual Goldenrod Writing Festival

WKU community members gathered in Cherry Hall Tuesday evening for the Goldenrod Writing Festival, an annual reading of poetry and fiction The festival, organized by the WKU English Club, featured Gaylord Brewer, an English professor at Middle Tennessee State University, reading selections from his

book, “Before the Storm Takes It Away ” Brewer also judged 10 finalists’ submissions for the Goldenrod Undergraduate Writing Contest In late March, students submitted one original literary work of under 750 words to be judged The top three entries received Spencer’s Coffee gift cards valued at $100, $50 and $25.

Lights for Tomorrow’ candle lighting ceremony celebrates America’s 250th birthday

The Kentucky Museum hosted a “Two Lights for Tomorrow” lighting ceremony at the Felts House to commence a year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence

“Two Lights for Tomorrow” is a nationwide initiative by America250 that commences the celebration of America’s semi-quincentennial year, according to the event’s press release The initiative was proposed to honor Paul Revere’s and William Dawes’ midnight ride by displaying two lights in public squares across the country throughout the month

WKU English Club hosts spring book sale

The WKU English Club is holding its spring book sale between 11 a m and 5 p m on Thursday in Cherry Hall, room 101 According to the WKU English Club’s Instagram, books will be priced at $5 for a full bag, 50 cents for a paperback and $1 for a hardback
