‘Temporary’ funding freeze leaves uncertain future for study abroad scholarship programs

After the U S Department of State initiated a funding freeze, the future of WKU study abroad appeared to hang in the balance

On Feb 12, the Department of State enacted a 15-day temporary funding freeze on grant disbursements through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), according to a statement from The Forum on Education Abroad The freeze was set to expire Feb 27, yet no federal action had taken place to resume ECA funding as of March 3, according to a press release from the Association of International Educators

WKU Softball takes series at FIU

WKU Softball secured its second straight Conference USA series win, and fourth on the season, against Florida International University April 25-27.

Sophomore center fielder Kendle White led the Hilltoppers offensively over the weekend She scored four of WKU’s nine runs across the threegame series and leads the Hilltoppers in runs scored with 29.

FIU sweeps WKU Baseball

WKU Baseball suffered its first Conference USA sweep of the season against Florida International University this weekend, April 25-27. The Hilltoppers’ record dropped to 3410 and 9-9 on the road WKU dropped to fourth place in CUSA with an 11-7 record.

Stout drafted by San Francisco 49ers

WKU Football defensive back Upton Stout was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers Friday night.

The nickel cornerback recorded 53 total tackles, one sack and one interception last season He finished his college career with six interceptions, 15 pass deflections and two defensive touchdowns.
