Indian Air Force formally inducts Rafale fighter jets

The first five Rafale fighters were formally inducted at the ceremony in Ambala air base.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Defense Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria were present at the ceremony.

The formal induction of rafale included a traditional “Sarva Dharma Puja”. Then Air Display by Rafale and Tejas aircraft along with “Sarang Aerobatic Team” The rafale arrived India July, 2020 from France. The first batch of five rafales arrived in July in India after four years. India signed an intergovernmental agreement with France. The worth of 36 rafales is rs 59,000 crore. France is

committed to offer permanent membership in the UN Security Council. The French Minister ensured timely delivery of the remaining 31 rafales.

Florence Parley, the French Minister of the Armed Forces said the France-India partnership is a more crucial post COVID world. He added saying India’s responsibility is not limited to borders but for the entire Indo-Pacific and the Indian Ocean Region.

The crew and members gave a traditional water canon salute to the Rafale jet fighter at Ambala air base. After the rafale induction event, Indian and French delegation scheduled for a bilateral meeting.

Golden Temple gets FCRA Registration

Golden Temple, Amritsar will be receiving funds from foreign here onwards. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah said it is a “path breaking move”. Describing the permission from FCRA, the minister said it is another example to show the outstanding spirit of Sikh community.

Golden Temple in Amritsar is also well known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. Home Minister Amit Shah approved registration of Sri Harmandir Sahib under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The temple management had applied for FCRA registration at the end of May 2020. Mr.Amit Shah approved it on September 9. The registration allows the temple to receive funds from abroad.

The FCRA registered the temple in the name of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Saheb Sri Darbar Saheb Punjab Association. It is a body set up in 1925.

Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted “Sri Darbar Sahib’s divinity gives strength to us. For decades, the Sangat worldwide was unable to serve there. The Modi Government’s decision to allow FCRA to the Sri Harmandir Sahib deepens the connect of Seva between the Sangat globally and the Sri Darbar Sahib. A blessed moment!”

The sources said FCRA registration will be valid for the period of five years. That means the golden temple will be funding from forgein for five years from now.

Buta Bommalu

Folk Dance Of Andhra Pradesh Buta bommalu is even known as basket puppets. These puppets are made with bamboo stripes that are used to make bamboo baskets. These puppet baskets are made nice and spacious for performers to be able to get into the basket.

Generally, it is hollow inside and dancers get to enter inside and start dancing according to the music.

During any festival, the buta bommalu culture is seen in West or East Godavari district.

The idea behind buta bommalu is to depict religious stories through a good puppet show.

The dance is a little difficult.

The puppet figure and dancer are tied to each other with a string around the shoulder and waist.

This folk dance became popular in Tanuku district and it got its name from Tarakasena.

This man was a ruler of this place and a demon king.

In this form of folk dance you will see how the European origin got popular in the 19th Century.

Although the foreign culture is being imitated in this folk dance, the Indians have made a few modifications and they put in Indian flavor to these dances.

Masks are worn on the head and shoulders of the dancers.

This unique dance form is even known as ‘Dance of the Mask’.

Usually, a team of ten members, a musician, an instructor, and a congregation leader are present.

This dance form is even performed during Navaratri too.

As mentioned earlier, this dance form is done for a religious purpose and dolls of Lord Shiva, Parvati, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Garuda, Hanuman, Radha and Krishna are seen.

The best part about Butta Bommalu is that it has never been limited to only the aristocratic people. Even the ordinary middle class people get a chance to express themselves through this form of dance cum drama.

During social gatherings, Butta Bommalu is definitely performed. This folk dance doesn’t require a certification or formal training, it is an art of self-expression.

In the Butta Bommalu dance, basket toys made of wood husks, dry grass and also cow dung are included.

The rhythm and fantastic moves makes butta bommalu an energizing dance.

All these basket toys remain silent, they don’t talk. It is only meant to entertain people.

You would get to see many type of dolls.

Mostly men participate in butta bommalu.

In the form of dolls, they enact and show love affairs, evil characters and spouses.

Apart from this, snake charmers, a drummer, Nagaswaram’s dance and many other characters are made.

Every doll is colorfully painted.

How Are These Toys Made?

Bamboo pieces are finely sliced, a suitable space is left in the middle and inside to easily form shapes.

Then a thick cloth is wrapped around the stick and it is sewed with a needle.

The oil paints used to decorate the dolls are mixed with ground nutmeg and boiled flour.

This is spread on a cloth and comes out four times thicker. Later, it is placed in the sun and painted with wood primer.

With oil paints, these are beautifully decorated further.

Head of the doll is not made, it is purchased. Then the shapes are bent into iron rods in the desired shape and decorated with embroidered beads.

A few dolls are made with rubber and plastic.

For example, it is a tradition for married women to wear a toe ring.

When we look at the role of science in this tradition, there is relevance. Toe ring is know to ease pain during intercourse and is good for the uterus.

Similarly, there are many other traditions that have scientific reasons.

On the other hand, where there are illogical superstitions, not all traditions can be followed.

A tradition without logic is nothing but a blind belief.

One of the reasons we follow traditions is for discipline in life. More than discipline, if you are falling prey to blind beliefs, then those traditions doesn’t serve the purpose.

Why do traditions even matter?

These traditions matter because they are similar to values that have been instilled in us ever since we were children.

We either end up following a few traditions or let them remain a questions in our mind.

Relevance Of Traditions Today Rituals or traditions often works like a motivation to keep us going. Just like how we celebrate our birthday’s every year, traditions give us a chance to meet, greet, and bond with all our loved ones.

In ancient times, it was through rituals that people bonded with each other.

Hierarchy got its importance after rituals were formed, this has been the story in the entire world.

Earlier, traditions were stringent to an extent where people even gave up their lives.

As modernity took over, ancient rituals have started taking new forms.

Then ultimately, religious leaders focused on creating an identity in the community through rituals.

There are a few people who identify themselves through rituals and traditions.

The Modern-Self And Rituals Besides community or religious rituals, one can even have personal rituals.

It is in this modern time that one can openly create rituals for their ownself.

According to one of the psychiatrist, self-rituals are a way of choosing how to live, with whom to share an experience, and choosing to portray ourselves in our community.

These rituals are all a collection of shared experiences.

Role Of Traditions For Our WellBeing As people today believe in Secularism, following a tradition is more of a choice.

There are times when traditions or rituals are required to feel mentally, emotionally, and spiritually good.

Rituals and traditions are more like a support system that most people hold on to.

Mukherjee was born in a small village in Bengal. He had two siblings. He attended Suri Vidyasagar College in Suri (Birbhum), affiliated to the University of Calcutta. He did his MA degree in political science and history and an LL.B. degree, both from the University of Calcutta.

COVER STORY Before joining politics, he was a clerk in the office of the Deputy Accountant-General (Post and Telegraph) in Calcutta.

In 1963, he worked as a political science professor in Vidyanagar College, Kolkata and worked as a journalist at Desher Dak before getting into politics.

In 5 years of his political career, he took over many ministerial portfolios under the Government of India. Apart from this, he has been one of the senior leader in the National Congress.

From 2012 to 2017, he served as the 13th President of India.

Between 2009-2012, he was the Finance Minister. In 2019, he was given the Bharat Ratna award by Ram Nath Kovind.

In 2008, he was given the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.

His political career started in 1969 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi helped him get elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament of India, on a Congress ticket.

He was he only non-prime minister who was the leader of Lok Sabha for eight years.

He headed around 24 of 39 GOMs. In 2012, when he became the President in 2012, he took care of 95 GOMs.

For over 5 decades he played a crucial role.

He served as a Union Finance Minister, Defence Minister, Minister of External Affairs, and the Leader of the house of Lok Sabha.

He got all the international fame after his stint as a Union Finance Minister.

According to a Euromoney magazine survey, Pranab was declared as the best Finance Ministers in the world.

Pranab had formed his own political party named Rashtriya Samajwadi Party after Indira Gandhi passed away and he quit Congress.

He was the only Finance Minister who presented 7 budgets. He served during the pre-liberalisation and post-liberalisation era.

Role As A Bengali Politician He was the founding member of Bengal Congress and before joining the Indian National Congress (INC) in 1969, he actively took part in the election of V.K. Krishna Menon as an independent from Bengal’s Midnapore Lok Sabha constituency. Later he moved to Indira Gandhi’s INC and ever since he was just there.

He was one of the Gandhi loyalists. He wrote a book called “The Turbulent Years : 1980-96”. During the release of this book he was spotted at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In his entire lifetime, he wrote around 8 books.

Contribution To India China Ties Pranab Mukherjee significantly contributed to the friendship between China and India. In his 50 years in politics, he positively contributed to China-India relations.

At the age of 84, Pranab Mukherjee died at 84 on 31st August 2020. He was tested positive and had undergone a brain surgery earlier this month.

Unfortunately doctors couldn’t save him. The centre had announced seven days of mourning for the former President.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first one to pay tribute to Pranab Mukherjee and expressed how blessed he was to work with him.

This story is about a good conversation between a mother and child. The mother teaches her son about good deeds. Are you ready to learn about good deeds?

One day a boy named Tofu and his mother were going out for a walk.

There was something that the boy saw on his way and questioned his mother, “Mother, why is the boy helping the old man cross the road?”.

Mother says, “Son, this boy is being kind and even though he doesn’t know the man, he wants to perform a good deed of helping him”.

Then mother takes Tofu to the park and tells him a story of good deeds.

Mother says, “Son, this is a story of an ant and dove”.

She begins narrating the story.

“One day, an ant was crossing a river bank. She was happy and went close to the river to sip some water.

Unfortunately, she loses her balance and falls into the river. For long she cries for help.

There is no one around to help her. She continues crying for help.

Luckily, a dove watches all this from a tree.

She immediately comes to the rescue of the ant but throwing a leaf into the river.

The ant catches hold of the leaf, sits on it, and safely reaches the grass.

After a week, the ant passes by the river bank another time and this time he sees the Dove in danger.

Later, a hunter aims to shoot the Dove and sees that the Dove is asleep.

Without taking much time to think of a plan to divert the hunter, the ant bites this hunter’s leg.

The hunter loses his aim and by then the Dove understands and flies free.

This way, both the Dove and Ant help each other.”

Finally, mother teaches Tofu the importance of doing good deeds.

Since that day, Tofu decides to help people as much as he can.

It was a sad scene in that house.

The cruel elder brother did everything he wanted without bothering about his younger one even once.

One evening, the cruel brother goes to the Jungle to pick wood for lighting it at home.

Story 2 - The

It was bitterly cold but Shyam manages to collect some wood.

This story is about a cruel boy who always thinks of himself and does wrong things but learns his lesson one day.

Once upon a time there lived two brothers Ram and Shyam who lived in a small house close to the jungle.

Ram was the younger brother and Shyam the elder one.

Like every other elder brother, Shyam was not a loving brother to Ram. He always ill-treated him.

Shyam would eat away Ram’s food, stole his desserts, and hit him.

Instead of taking the wood back home, he decides sells the wood and buys a pudding for himself.

He relishes every bit of the pudding and is extremely delighted.

Now, he goes back to all the trees and starts cutting down all the wood.

He collects enough wood but acts greedy and collects more than required.

Now, he goes to break woods from a needle tree.

The tree stops him and cries saying”don’t cut me, I will give you my golden apples”.

Shyam stops cutting the tree and it throws a few golden apples.

says a half-hearted yes.

This cruel boy doesn’t stop here, he starts behaving more greedy and shouts at the needle tree asking it to throw more apples down.

Now, the needle tree is angry and throws all its needles at the boy.

Shyam falls on the ground and cries loud in pain.

One day, the farmer and his wife had to go out to meet a money lender to return his money back but the wife thinks of how to leave the baby all alone at home.

The farmer tells her not to worry and believes that the mangoose will protect the baby.

In the meantime, his brother watches the time on the clock and wonders what is taking his brother so long.

His wife doesn’t trust in the mangoose and is afraid to leave her baby alone with the animal but the husband gives her an assurance that the mangoose can be trusted.

He gets worried and goes to the jungle in search of him. Then, Ram finds Shyam crying in pain because of the needles.

As the farmer and his wife leave, a black poisonous snake comes close to the baby and it tries attacking him.

Lovingly, Ram removes all the needles from Shyam’s body.

The mangoose remains loyal to his master and safeguards the baby by killing the snake.

Shyam apologizes to his younger brother for behaving cruel.

Right after this, the wife returns back from the money lender’s home and notices blood around the mangoose’s mouth.

Seeing the genuine change in Shyam, the needle tree is impressed and it throws all its golden apples for both the brothers.

Without thinking, she is shocked and hits the mangoose on his head, runs to see if her baby is safe.

Moral - One should never be cruel in life.

She finds her baby sleeping peacefully and understands that the blood stains on the mangoose’s mouth were because of the dead poisonous snake on the floor.

Always be generous. If you treat someone bad, you will receive bad.

Story 3 - The Loyal Mangoose

This story is about a mangoose who is loyal to his master but his loyalty is misunderstood by the master’s wife.

Once upon a time, there lived a farmer and his happy family.

The farmer went out to work, there he found a hurt and pale mangoose. He felt sad for this creature and decided to take care of him as a pet for his son.

The wife was not happy about accepting the mangoose but for her husband’s sake, she SEPTEMBER 2020 | WWW.WISHESH.NET

STORY FOR KIDS Her eyes are filled with tears and she understands the mangoose’s loyalty.

She runs back to thank the mangoose and accept him as her pet but finds it dead because of the hard hit.

She is devastated and is left with nothing to say.

Moral - Never take big decisions or react without thinking.

Story 4 Kindness

Tara’s

In a forest, a girl named Tara lived happily with her mom. She was sweet and kind-hearted.

She assisted her mother with collecting woods everyday. It was just like another day when Tara visited the forest with her mother and sat down in silence for a while.

The fairy was grateful to Tara and gifted her with a magic stick.

Watching beautiful trees and birds flying around it, she relaxed on a piece of log.

This stick was meant to fulfill any one wish of Tara.

Suddenly, her eyes went on a cute rabbit.

Rabbits are generally scared and timid. So, when the rabbit saw Tara noticing her, she got scared and started running.

Tara couldn’t believe that something so amazing happened with her. Immediately she went back home happy.

In excitement, even Tara started chasing this cute rabbit.

Somehow, Tara managed to hold this rabbit in her arms and it somehow escaped. Right after that, a beautiful fairy appeared in the air.

Tara was surprised to see such a pretty fairy.

She asked the fairy who she was.

The fairy told her that she was turned into a rabbit after being badly cursed by a witch.

The witch told the fairy that she could get back to her usual form if a sweet and kind hearted girl touched her.

She found a baby elephant badly injured and crying for help.

Tara felt helpless and wanted to do something for that animal and right then she remembered that she had the magic wand and could use it to treat the elephant.

She didn’t think of herself even once and happily asked for a wish for the elephant to get fine and moved the magic stick.

Method No-1

Prep all the ingredients before starting the cooking process of gongura chicken curry.

Place a small pan and dry roast these ingredients- methi seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds and red chillies.

Continue to roast the added ingredients for 3-4 minutes on medium heat until the seeds crackle.

Turn off the flame and make powder of the roasted ingredients.

Place the pressure cooker and heat oil in it.

Add these ingredients in the cooker- chopped onions, finely chopped ginger and garlic, green chillies. Saute it until the onions turn brown.

Now add the finely chopped tomatoes and saute it for a few minutes. Make sure tomatoes become mushy.

Once the mixture is well cooked, add chicken.

Then add garam masala and turmeric powder. Pour in water and let the chicken cook until 3-4 whistles.

More Indians in Singapore Returning Home Due To Job Losses According to Singapore Envoy, on an average, about 100 Indian nationals in Singapore register daily with the High Commission to check for the flights back home. There have been at least 11,000 Indians so far who have registered to return.

Following the drastic impact of the novel coronavirus on the economy of Singapore, the government has decided to cut down on the workforce in several businesses.

Indian High Commissioner in Singapore, P Kumaran said that the high commission has repatriated over 17,000 Indian nationals in the month of May and 120 flights have been arranged for this.

The special flights have been arranged as a part of the ongoing Vande Bharat mission and whenever necessary, more flights would be added up to help meet the demand of Indians stuck in Singapore.

Many Indians in Singapore have been coming back to India due to job losses, for medical treatment, or on the verge of a family distress situation.

Kumaran said that the high commission would continue to procure more flights though the formal flights have not been resumed between the two countries.

He also listed out his priorities in working on the India-Singapore relationship during his tenure in Singapore. He further wants to intensify the political engagement, focus on the increasing trade and investment flows, and technology collaborations in the space of fintech and startups.

Lead Global Procurement And Supply Of COVID Vaccines The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced to lead the procurement of coronavirus vaccines for low income countries.

The development of procuring and supplying the COVID vaccines comes in view to save the poor and less developed nations. Elon Musk Puts A Chip In A Pig’s Brain Brain-computer interfacing that is referred to as Neuralink is Elon Musk’s new project. He has uncovered a coin-sized computer chip in a pig named Gertrude. His idea is to discuss his ambitious plans of creating a working brain-tomachine interface.

Against Visva-Bharati Authorities The Government is urged to take possession of a century-old heritage road by luminaries, including members of Rabindranath Tagore’s family as they fear that their access might be blocked or denied The fear expressed in the letter mentioned that a 3-km road that connects Visva Bharati with Tagore’s dream village would be blocked by public and soon a new road would come up.

This concern is expressed by 40 eminent persons including a member of painter Nandalal Bose’s family.

It was written in Bengali that a 8-9 feet high wall that’s nearing completion on a portion of this old road which is lined up with residences of luminaries like Amartya Sen, Khsitimohan Sen and Nandalal Bose. Further, it read that once the wall is completed, the road would cause trouble for residents of Sripally, Simanta Pally, Pearson Pally, Andrew’s Pally, Deer Park, Binoy Bhavan and Sriniketan.

They are insecure that a part of history and heritage of

Santiniketan would be lost.

It was alleged in the letter that if an alternative new road is made for the movement between Shantiniketan and Sriniketan, the old road will be blocked by Visva-Bharati as the varsity authorities have been taking care of such projects “unilaterally” without considering the fact that the ashramites and locals are objecting it.

In the month of February, all the ashramites wrote to VisvaBharati vice-chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty in February against these high walls but they didn’t receive a response.

They believe that if the road is taken back by the State PWD, this won’t be inaccessible to the people and the objective of Tagore to set up Visva-Bharati and Shantiniketan will not be lost.

In a letter that went to the Chief Minister on Thursday said that all the ashramites are hopeful about their sentiments being considered and recognized.

Supriyo Tagore, Subhra Tagore, descendants of the ‘Bard of Bengal’, and former principals of Pathabhavan and Mrinalini Pathabhavan, Nandalal Bose’s grandson Suprabuddha Sen were among the signatories of the letter.

The move of Visva-Bharati, founded by Tagore in 1921, to build fencing around the Poush Mela ground caused kayos and violence that all the varsity’s properties were vandalised by a mob on August 17th.

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana e-Gopala app, Launched By Modi

On September 10,2020, for the farmers in Bihar, PM Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and e-Gopala app. For fisheries and the animal husbandry sector in Bihar, Modi launched many other initiatives.

The motto of this Yojana is develop the fisheries sector in the country.

Farmers can directly use the E-Gopala app as it is for breed improvement and a marketplace information portal.

At a cost of Rs 1390 crore, the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana will be implemented.

2)In this scheme, there would be new interventions such Sagar Mitras, fishing vessel insurance, support for new and up-gradation of existing fishing vessels and boats, Integrated coastal fishing villages development, bio-toilets, Nucleus Breeding Centres and aquaculture in saline and alkaline areas.

3)Scheme would concentrate on ‘Cluster or Area-based approaches’. Through backward and forward linkages, clusters of fisheries would be created.

4)Employment generation activities such as seaweed and ornamental fish cultivation would be focused on.

5)Income-generating activities have been prioritized.

6)Quality brood, seed, feed, special focus on species diversification, critical infrastructure, and marketing networks are focused at.

7)Till now, under phase-I of the PMMSY, around 1723 crores worth proposals for 21 states would be approved by the Department of Fisheries.

We are adding 5 more important leaders of NorthEastern India to this list so that the next time you remember our freedom fighters you remember them too!

Kanaklata Barua

Born on 22 December 1924, Barua was an activist of Assam. She belonged to Borangabari village of the undivided Darrang district. She made a name for herself during the Quit India Movement when she joined Mrityu Bahini, a suicide squad when she was just 17.

She had earlier applied to join Azad Hind Fauz but was rejected as she was a minor.

On 20th September 1942, the revolutionary camp of the Gohpur division of the undivided Darrang district decided to hoist and unfurl the national flag at a local police station and

it was Barua who led the movement with some unarmed villagers for the task.

The officer-in-charge of the police station warned Barua of deadly consequences if she doesn’t slow down but she refused to give up. Consequently, the police opened fire, and Barua was shot dead holding the flag which was subsequently picked up by her compatriot Mukunda Kakoti, who was also killed later.

Paona Brajabashi

Major Paona Brajabashi was a soldier of the Kangleipak kingdom (Kingdom of Manipur) under Raja Kulachandra. He was one of the most respected figures of the Anglo-Manipur war in 1891.

Battling the British undermanned in the battle of Khongjom, Paona bravely led his soldiers in one of the fiercest battles in the history on 23 April 1891.

A Manipuri British Army officer, spellbound by Paona’s bravery asked him to switch sides and join the British army. The British insisted that he ould switch sides in exchange for a plum post.

However, Paona replied that death was more welcome than the treason.

Paona took off the cloth wrapped to his head and asked the British man to behead him. Such was the valor of Paona Barajabakshi.

the throne sparked a war. A series of coups, exiles and appeals for help has led to the British directly getting involved with Manipur once again.

Around 400 British officials have come down to Manipur to arrest the Prince in revolt Trikendrajit Singh and oust the current man on the throne, Maharaja Kulachandra Singh.

When Maharaja refused to abdicate or hand over the Prince, the British conducted a sudden raid in the midnight and captured the Prince Trikendrajit Singh. Upon this, Maharaja Kulachandra ordered the beheading of 5 British soldiers on March 24, 1891. It was this incident that triggered the Anglo-Manipur war of 1891.

To protect the territorial integrity of Manipur against British imperialist design, Bir Trikendra Singh laid down his life and has gone down in the annals of history as a hero of supreme sacrifice and extreme valor.

Relations between the Manipur Kingdom and the British were peaceful till the death of Maharaja Chnadrakiri in 1890 when a power struggle for

During the country’s fight for independence from the British Raj, a movement to boycott the British goods was embarked by Dadabhai Naoroji, Gopala Krishna Gokhale, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

This movement was named the Swadeshi movement (‘buy Indian’) and has recurred several times and the second Swadeshi movement was one of the most successful movements of the Pre-Gandhian era.

It started in the Bengal Province, which is considered the nerve center of Indian Nationalism, in 1905 after the then Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon had announced the partition of Bengal.

Formal proclamation of the movement was made on August 7, 1905, at the Calcutta Town Hall where the famous boycott resolution was also passed. Fortunately, Karna gets a rare chance to correct his mistake and was allowed to return back to earth for 15 days.

He returns to perform shradh rites and donates food or water to his ancestors.

Here are some rules to be kept in mind while performing the Shradh ritual.

Lord Vishnu had tested Mahabali’s generosity and he won his heart.

Lord Vishnu went to Mahabali as a poor brahmin named Vamana. He requested Mahabali to give him 3 feet of his land.

Since Mahabali was kind-hearted and believed in charity, he granted him that wish.

Soon, Vamana started to grow in size and his first and second step covered the sky and earth.

Right before he was about to take his third step, Mahabali came forward to help him and asked him to keep his third step on his head, this lead him to Patala.

For all of Mahabali’s good deeds, Lord Vishnu granted him a wish of annually visiting his people to celebrate Onam.

Cultural Importance Of Onam Apart from Malyali’s, this festival is celebrated by other religions too.

Pookalam: The Floral Decorations & Arrangement One of the special ways of celebrating this festival is through making designs on the floor with pretty flowers.

Usually, these designs are made at the door front and temples.

These flower mats look simply amazing.

Onam Sadya Around 11-13 dishes are made on Onam and everyone enjoys the big meal on a banana leaf.

Events During Onam Festival Onakkodi is a ritual where people buy and wear new clothes.

Thrikkakara Appan or Onathappan are installed and worshiped in all the Hindu homes.

On the auspicious occasion of Onam, all the Hindu temples are decorated with lamps. One of the reasons for lighting a lamp is that of paying tribute to King Mahabali who sacrificed and went to Patala.

A Palmyra tree is kept in front of the temple and it is enclosed by wooden balustrade and dry Palmyra leaves.

Handlom fairs are conducted on this auspicious day.
