Indian Army Merged With A Private Firm And Developed Low-Cost Gun Shot Locator

Currently Indian Army imports expensive gun shot locator which costs around 65 lakhs.

Developing a cheapest device is a great achievement. The newly developed gun shot locator costs around 3 lakhs.

Army’s College of Military Engineering merged with a private work to work on this project to develop a cheaper device compared to imported devices.

This new device is capable of locating a bullet

from 400m distance. It will help to locate and counterattack at terrorist faster. “Parth” gun shot locator is the cheapest army device in the world.

Major Anoopa Mishra exhibited “Parth” gun shot locator at the DefExpo 2020 at Lucknow. Major Mishra also developed a bulletproof jacket which gives protection from sniper bullets to the soldiers. He is also the one who developed a helmet that can stop AK-47 bullet from distance of 10 meters.

Jammu And Kashmir Public Safety ActA Preventive Law The Public Safety Act was formed in 1978 in Jammu & Kashmir. It is a strict law that is detains any individual for 2 years without any kind of trial or charge.

In general, if any individual is arrested under Public Safety Act, there will no warrant, specific charges and also without a specifying a period of time.

In certain cases, the Act makes some amendments for the detained individual.

The amendments are like- specifying the reason of detention, gives them a chance of filing a case against their detention in return. The Act is all over Jammu & Kashmir with the same provisions. The detention order under PSA is declared by

the Divisional Commissioner or District Magistrate.

The Reason Why Public Safety Act is coming into now is- the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah was detained under the Act very recently. The detention was to keep him under house arrest as per Article 370.

The one who established this law was Sheikh Abdullah (Farooq Abdullah’s father). But the purpose of establishing PSA was different. It was to prohibit timber smuggling and arrest the smugglers. This is a preventive law but not just a law to punish people.

There is vim and vigor in Bengal art and craft. Take a look at some of the best art and crafts of West Bengal!

NO-1 Kantha Embroidery Kantha Embroidery got its fame from Tripura. This design is commonly seen on sarees, dresses, and dhoti that people wear in Odisha and West Bengal.

The embroidery is made with silk thread. Earlier Kantha embroidery was known as Lepkantha or Sujni Kantha.

These designs aren’t just made on sarees or dhoti’s, it is used as covers for boxes and mirrors as well. Usually, geometrical shapes, birds and flowers are the prominent designs of Kantha Embroidery.

NO-2 Scroll Paintings In this form of art, paintings are horizontally done. The other name to scroll paintings is known as Pat Chitra in Kolkata. Natural colors are gracefully used to make these paintings. These paintings look bold and bright. It is usually made on thick fabrics.

Usually, landscapes are made in this type of painting. At first, this originated in China and Japan.

Later it spread to India.

NO-3 Terracotta Craft Terracotta is a clay-based sculpture craft that got its popularity from West Bengal.

Usually, earthenware and flower pots comprise the terracotta craft. The Vishnupur

temple is the best example of the terracotta craft. The materials used for terracotta craft are inexpensive and this form of art has a great history.

NO-4 Ghurni Yet another cute form of art is that of Ghurni. It is a process of making clay dolls.

These clay dolls are beautifully sculpted in Krishnanagar, it is a place in West Bengal.

At every handicraft museum, these dolls are displayed. Ghurni is best seen in Shankar’s doll museum in New Delhi. Clay dolls of birds, insects, fruits, flowers, gods and goddesses are made. Through clay dolls, interesting scenes have been displayed.

For example, the Tea Garden and Pandit Sabha.

NO-5 Sholapith Crafts White decorative pieces are made in this form of art. The other name of this art is herbal ivory. The most common decorative pieces are made for brides, mandaps, horses and all the Hindu God and Goddess.

This art is pure and beautiful. The shola art designers are known as Malakar’s. They make garlands, fancy head wears and this art is famous in West Bengal. The white substance used in this form of art is made from the Shola plant.

Conclusion Art and crafts of Bengal have an aesthetic look. Some of them are vibrant, while others are simple and pure. Bengal is the land of talent. Art and craft have drastically innovated over time. You can either stick to the colored designs of Kantha Embroidery or admire the all-white shola pith crafts.

Sikhs

Introduction Sikhs are known for their lively and hot-headed nature. They are all over the world. You will always see their sweetness in the way they smile. The best trademark of Sikhs is men in turbans and women in parandas.

There are millions of Sikhs all over the world. In India, maximum of the Sikh population live in Punjab and the rest of them in every other state. In addition to this, majority of Sikhs are in foreign countries such as Canada, Europe, Australia, and USA. Just 2% of the Sikh population is in India.

Sikh history is around 500 years old. Sikh people believe in Gurmat, it means faith in ‘One God’. Sikhism was started by Guru Nanak and led by 9 other guru’s. It is believed that after the death of Guru Gobind Singh, his divine spirit immersed into the scriptures of Sikhism. This holy book is known as Guru Granth Sahib.

The core idea of being a Sikh is that of wanting to ‘learn’.

Earlier, Sikh was a part of Hinduism. However, Sikhs always considered themselves different. The main Guru, Guru Nanak Dev, was born as a Hindu and had a connection with the Sant tradition where people sang songs to praise God.

Festivals For the most part, all the Sikh festivals are celebrated with regard to the culture of life of the Sikh Gurus. Just as hindu’s look into the calendar and celebrate festivals. Likewise, Sikhs have nanakshahi calendar to see dates and celebrate their festivals.

This Nanakshahi calendar is monitored by the Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee. This committee organizes festivals across all Gurudwaras. Except for festivals like Hola Mohalla, Diwali and Gurunanak’s birthday, every other festival is followed according to Nanakshahi.

1.Lohri Lohri is an auspicious day to celebrate the harvest season. This festival is mostly celebrated by Punjabi’s when compared to Sikhs.

Sikhs across the world celebrate this day. This guru was tortured and killed by Jahangir. For 5 days he suffered, on the 6th day, he was taken to a river and ever since he was missing.

Parkash Divas On Parkash Divas, all the Sikhs go to Gurudwara and pray. This is celebrated as a significant day for all the Sikhs as the Guru Granth Sahib was established on this day.

Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib On this day all the Sikhs go to the Gurudwara and offer a prayer. They express their respect for Guru Tegh Bahadur. He was a brave soul, who stood up for his

religion and didn’t give up even when he was threatened to be killed. He had denied converting to Islam.

1 - Dino - The Smart Dog This story is about a wise and helpful dog who saves kids from the mistakes they tend to make. Dino is friendly and smart, he wants kids to be careful. See what he has to say.

Story :

Dino lived in a beautiful city with his family. He was kind and friendly who always took care of everyone around him. One day he was taking rest after his lunch. While gazing out of the window he enjoyed watching a boy playing with a colorful ball. He got terrified when he saw the boy not bothered about his safety. The boy ran after his ball and was about to get hit by a car. As Dino is helpful, he goes and saves him.

Thus, Dino tells us to be careful while playing on the streets. Every child should look around and not run to places where there are moving vehicles.

The next day he finds two kids wearing dark clothes and walking out in the dark. He realized that the people driving could not see them and this is unsafe for drivers as well as the people walking on the road.

Thus, Dino tells us not to walk out in the dark with dark clothes. We must wear a visible color so that it doesn’t cause accidents.

Moral : Children must be careful on the road.

Safety comes first.

2 - Circus Escape This story is about the interesting ways of how an elephant keeps everyone entertained in a circus.

Your child is going to have fun and learn a good moral out of it.

Story : One Sunday, Bill goes out with his parents to visit the Big Top Circus. He is excited and has felt great watching the crowd, the colorful environment, and all the animals. The Ringmaster is dressed well and welcomes everybody.

He sees red-nosed jokers who wore colorful pants and shirts. The crowd screamed with joy and everyone was waiting for the animals to perform. The monkeys come jumping and everyone laughs at them. Later, four lions come to show their talent for jumping over rings.

3 - Florence The Nightingale This story is about a girl who was passionate about being a nurse and how she works hard to become one, helps all the army soldiers and receives an award from Queen Victoria.

Story : Florence was the only daughter of her parents. She lived in London and was very passionate about taking care of people. She wanted to be a nurse although her parents were not happy about this decision.

She traveled to Germany, studied hard to become a nurse and fulfills her dream. At that time, army officers were in a bad condition due to the war. She helps by offering good food to all of them and cleans the army hospital for good hygiene. The army soldiers are elated with her treatment and the call her the lady of lamp. She made them so happy by helping them.

What comes next? Three gray elephants come and dance. Bill is super excited to watch them. One of the elephant’s named Minnie come close to Bill, Bill says Hi and the elephant responds back to him. Bill is amazed at the response. All of a sudden, the elephant runs out of the tent circus tent. He frees himself from prison.

Moral :

She comes back to London and her parents are proud of her work. For this excellent service. Queen Victoria gives her a Merit and she is the first woman to receive it in her country.

Early Life OF Lal Bahadur Shastri He started to take part in freedom fighting from a very young age. His struggle started from childhood as his father died when he was less than 2 years old and he was the last child of his parents. Though his family was faced with poverty, he had a happy childhood.

Lal Bahadur was brought up by his uncle. He was sent to his uncle for studies in Varanasi.

He was a hard working and dedicated boy from then- we can say this as he walked the way to school without shoes even on hot summer days.

How did he start freedom fighting?

Mahatma Gandhi inspired many people with his slogans and fight against British. Lal Bahadur was one of them and when Gandhi ji asked people to join the Non Cooperation Movement.

He was highly passionate to join the fight of freedom. He also decided to quit his studies to do full justice for what he decided on.

In the year 1930, Mahatma Gandhi made another big move and it was named as Dandi March. Lal Bahadur took part in the March and he also did several campaigns. This protest may have been prisoned by British Raj. Even Lal Bahadur Shastri was arrested and he was jailed for seven long years.

After independence, Congress was on upper hand and then Lal Bahadur was recognized as

the national leader for his real bravery.

He lived for public service- When Shastri was jailed, his family received pension of Rs.50. His wife, visited jail to meet him and said that she

is able to save Rs. 10 every month from his pension. Listening to this Shastri asked the Government to reduce his pension of Rs.10 And offer the money to needy.

Post independence, he was appointed as the Minister of Police and Transport Control. When he was in the post, he made great amendments which are still continuing till today. He placed women in post of conductors for public transport.

Being a leader, Shastri always showed integrity to public. In, 1956 there was a tragic train accident and 142 people died in the incident. When this incident happened,

The very next day, Shastri died of heart attack. His death is called a mystery and believed that he was poisoned to death as his dead body turned to blue.

An ultra thin and ultra flexible electronic material have been developed by the researchers. The electronic material that has been developed could be printed and rolled out like a newspaper, for the touch screens in the mere future.

TECHNOLOGY The touch- responsive technology is said to be around 100 times thinner when compared to the touch screen materials that are currently existing. The touch- responsive technology is said to be having the flexible feature and it can be rolled up like a tube.

This ultra- thin and ultra- flexible electronic material have been created by the researchers from RMIT University, UNSW Monash University and ARC Center of Excellence in Future LowEnergy Electronics Technologies (FLEET).

A thin film that is commonly found in the touch screens of the smart phones has been used by the team of researchers from the RMIT University, UNSW Monash University and the ARC Center of Excellence in Future Low- Energy Electronics Technology in order to create the ultra- thin and ultra- flexible electronic material.

The material from the smart phone touch screens had been shrunk to 2D from 3D with the usage of liquid metal chemistry and the sheets are said to be compatible with the technologies that are existing.

It has been said that the material can be manufactured using the roll to roll (R2R) processing as the material is flexible enough to be rolled up like a tube and therefore the material can be considered to be like a newspaper.

The touch screens of most of the smart phones is said to be made up of indium- tin- oxide (ITO) which is a transparent material. The indium- tin- oxide that has been newly created absorbs 0.7 percent of light when compared to 5 percent to 10 percent with the standard conductive glass.a mobile phone which has been made with this material would consume less amount of power.

The new material that has been created by the research team has been used in order to create a working touchscreen like a proof- of- concept and have applied for a patent for the technology.

The screen that has been created can be used in LEDs, touch displays, solar cells, smart windows, many more exceeding the smart phones.

The lead researcher at the RMIT University Dr Torben Daeneke has explained that the screen that has been created can be bent and can also be twisted by could be made far more cheaply and efficiently rather than the touch screens that are currently being manufactured which are said to be slow as well as expensive.

He added saying that the battery life of the touchscreen that is made up of the material that has been created would be extended by at least 10 percent and the material being turned to two dimensional would also make it more transparent and would allow more amount of light to pass through.

He has also said that there exists no other way for making the fully flexible, conductive and transparent material other that the new liquid metal method that has been used.

Dr Torben Daeneke had said that the opportunities of the commercial collaboration opportunities can be explored and can be worked with the relevant industries in order to bring the technology into the market.

This film is a story of Thomas Shepherd. It is around a veterinarian who loves animals better than human beings and how he ends up connecting with human beings.

Analysis :

Robert Downey Jr plays the role of Dr. John Dolittle who has an innate talent for communicating with animals. Kasia Smutniak plays the role of Lily who loses her life at a sea. After her, he limits himself to home and animals. He is not fond of interacting with human beings. As destiny makes a few decisions for us, he meets Harry Collett, who plays the role of a boy named Tommy. He goes to meet John as he accidentally injures a squirrel. On the other hand, Dolittle goes to monitor an old lady who is sick. This way he gets to connect with human beings.

On reaching her place and starting to treat her, he gets to understand that her tea was poisoned and she needs to take care of herself by eating a fruit from a place that’s far away.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior Story : The film traces the life of the fierce Maratha warrior, Tanhaji Malusare, who was one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s closest aides and a military leader. It focuses on the famous Battle of Sinhagad (February 4, 1670), which saw Tanhaji take on Udaybhan, a Rajput who fought for Aurangzeb against the Marathas.

Analysis : Under the Treaty of Purandar, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (Sharad Kelkar) surrendered 23 forts to Aurangzeb (Luke Kenny), including the Kondhana (now called Sinhagad), which was of strategic importance.

Rajmata Jijabai (Padmavati Rao) swore that she would walk bare feet till the fort is recaptured by the Marathas. Four years later, Aurangzeb sends Udaybhan (Saif Ali Khan) with a huge army and a massive canon called 'naagin', to ensure that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cannot reclaim the fort. While Shivaji Maharaj plans a campaign, he doesn't want to send his trusted lieutenant and dear friend, Subedar Tanhaji Malusare on the battlefield, as the latter's son is about to get married. When Tanhaji gets to know of the 'mohim' (campaign), he implores Shivaji Maharaj to give him an opportunity to win Kondhana.

Final Word: The Unsung Warrior' scores on various counts — superior performances, powerful action, visual impact, and most of all, it unfolds a story from the pages of history that deserved to be told, with just this kind of intensity, passion and vigour.

The life of a nineteen-year-old girl takes a turn when she is subjected to a horrific acid attack. But she resolves to fight for justice and reclaim her life.

Analysis : Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’ is inspired by the story of real life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, who has become a symbol of strength and inspiration for many women. The film is a fictionalized account with Deepika Padukone playing the central character Malti, who is attacked in broad daylight on the streets of Delhi by a friend of the family, Bashir Khan aka Babbu and his aide.

As the narrative chooses a non-linear route, we first meet Malti when she is on a job hunt – consciously trying to move on from the 136 emotional scars that the heinous crime has left her with. For the physical scars, she has to go through a number of complicated surgeries. In fact, far from the dreams she nursed of being a singer, her life is now an intersection of her work with an NGO for acid victims, her multiple surgeries and her court cases.

Final Word: ‘Chhapaak’ is not a film that lets you go easy, just as one begins to settle in to think Malti has managed to get better of her perpetrator, it jolts you with a few grim, uncomfortable reminders.

‘Chhaapak’ is a sensitive film with a delicate, yet powerful, handling of a heinous crime against women, and an important story that needs to be heard.
