Customers with tight deadlines and collections of internet-quality clip art would test the faith of a saint. However, as a community-minded designer, I understand you work with whatever you got. During my first meeting with Spokane Victory Outreach’s team, I understood these were people with a big hearts, but not a lot of time nor marketing skills. Anytime VO requested a flyer or poster design based on some other designer’s work, I did my best to improve the overall look.
I would often do a quick update with InDesign rather than use Publisher or Word. Finding higher quality images was always a challenge, so I often did PhotoShop enhancements. I also tried to match the church’s event and marketing materials with VO national branding, by keep the colors, fonts, and graphics consistent as possible.
