In February 2014, I began working with Swift Copies in Coupeville. A few months earlier, the owners purchased the shop from Katrina. Katrina created the Windjammer, I used her template in Broderbund’s PrintShop software to design the April 2014 edition.
For May 2014, used my own software, Adobe Creative Suite to give the publication a major upgrade. I redesigned the entire layout and display ads with InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, and PhotoShop. The entire project took about 20 hours while I also helped a few customers with print requests.
Sadly Swift Copies closed in June 2014. I was the last of a handful of employees who tried working with the owners to make the business a success. It was a nice little shop with big ambitions, but too few customers. Like many area businesses, the owners struggled with a lack of time and money to become profitable. Nevertheless, I say “kudos” to everyone for doing their best, contributing great ideas, and giving me a chance to be a part of it.
