● Communicate clearly
House points are awarded to students both within and outside of the classroom for learner skills and character virtues.

Trips and Recognition
Students will receive recognition for demonstrating the Character Virtues, Learner Skills and for excellent and improved attendance to school.
Students are rewarded in many different ways throughout the academic year, this will be via certificates, recognition in assembly, invitation to trips/events throughout the academic year, with at least one reward trip/event per half term.
How is my child supported to meet the Academy expectations?
Students are expected to be Ready, Respectful and Safe at all times both within and outside of the Academy, failure to do so will result in:
Reminder A member of staff will remind the student as to what the Academy expectations are.
Correction If the student continues to behave against the Academy expectations a correction will be issued (visible on Class Charts).
Referral to Student Achievement Team If despite the correction the student continues to behave against the Academy expectations, they will be referred to the Student Achievement Team (SAT). SAT will triage the concern and will decide upon the next steps. The next step could be a reset and support conversation, silent study or the time and space to self-regulate, supported by a member of the SAT Team On occasions incidents may require the use of the Refocus Room due to repeat issues or a serious breach of the Academy expectations which may require further investigation (visible on Class Charts).
Students can be referred to the Student Achievement Team immediately, without a Correction, if the behaviour is a serious breach of the academy expectations
If a student is placed in the Refocus Room for either 3 periods plus a social time or 6 periods and both social times, they will always have an Imposition at the end of school, 3.15 - 3.30 and placed on a Head of House Report for 5 school days. An Imposition is where a restorative conversation takes place between the member of staff and the student. Failing to attend the 15 minute Imposition will result in a full day in Refocus the following day, along with the Imposition being reset.
Why might my child receive a detention?
For any of the following occurring on the stated separate occasions below within 5 consecutive days:
Within the Classroom
Late to lesson/Tutor Time x 3
Outside of the Classroom
Inappropriate corridor behaviour (running/shouting/ignoring the one-way system) x 3
Missing homework (set and resolved by Classroom Teacher) Being in an out of bounds area x 3
Learning avoidance x 3
Being physical or verbal towards others (pushing/shoving/tie pulling) x 3
Both within and Outside of the Classroom
Failing to follow instructions x 3
Mobile phone issues x 3
Uniform Issue x 3
Late to school
if a student arrives beyond the close of register, after 9 15 they will be recorded as “U”, this means they will receive a same day 30 min detention
How do detentions work and how will I be notified?
● Detentions are completed the same day for 30 minutes (3.15 - 3.45) once triggered and are held centrally. If the trigger is met before 12.55 the student will have a same day detention, if the trigger is after 12.55 the detention will be the following day, a notification of a detention is sent via Class Charts.
● We will not reschedule detentions, it is vital they are attended to avoid escalation to a 60 min SLT detention on a Friday, of which you will be notified by Thursday of the same week
● Failure to attend SLT detention will result in escalation to 1 day in the Refocus Room and a potential escalation to 1 day Suspension from school for persistent disruptive behaviour.
In addition to this, Heads of House are able to place students in a same day pastoral 10 min break detention for students on Report who are not meeting the required expectation or failing to attend to have their reports signed
