Newsletter Friday 9th October

Well it has been a rather busy few weeks with us having to deal with our first cases of coronavirus in school. I am sure you will join me in wishing those affected well and hope that they make a speedy recovery. During this time, I have been in contact with the Local Authority, Department for Education and Public Health England, all of whom are confident that the measures we have put in place are the best to support reducing the risk of transmission in school. As we continue to navigate our way through the coming months, we will continue to keep you updated with any tweaks we make to the provision and measures we have in place. All of us at school cannot thank you enough for your continued support and encouraging messages. I am confident that together we can ride this storm and come out the other end much stronger. Mrs Adams, Head of School

Y5 Remote Learning

This week, Year 5 started their Home Learning on Google Classrooms. They have worked really hard trying to edit and improve their learning. One of their topic tasks was to research some information about Neil Armstrong and The Space Race. 1969 Moon Landing On 1969 July 20th, Apollo 11 became the first rocket on the moon, which included three astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins! When Neil Armstrong first stepped onto the moon, his first words were, “The eagle has landed.” After he spoke his first words, he said the famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Buzz Aldrin described the moon as “magnificent desolation.” They spent 21 hours on the surface of the moon with a 7 hour sleep before returning to Earth! The United States of America had the first people to ever walk on the moon while beating others in the space race! Many people remember them as they were the first people to walk on the moon.
