TWIRLING AND TRENDY
Dance recitals provide a chance to sparkle with style!

BY RESIDENTS AND JUNIOR WRITERS KATIE AND SAMANTHA ASTUDILLO THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY EUROPEAN AESTHETIC & PERMANENT MAKEUP CENTER
We started dancing when we were two years old, and we have been dancing ever since! Our Mom used to dance, and our grandma works at a dance store, so it runs in the family! We take multiple dance classes a week and we also go to local competitions. Every season we have new dances to learn, and we buy stylish, glamorous, and beautiful costumes to wear at competitions. We also get to wear fancy makeup! To go to a competition, we must get up super early, do our hair and makeup, and get ourselves to the dance floor. Makeup and costumes are hard things to master but after a while, it gets easier.
Being a dancer and having all the shiny costumes is hard to keep track of but we enjoy it so much that it has become easy for us. If you’re interested in dancing, you should take a few classes and see if you like it. If you really enjoy it, you can join a studio competition team! You will need a bunch of different shoes, depending on the class you take. You will also need some dance clothes. For ballet, we wear leotards and tights with ballet slippers. For other classes, like jazz, we wear half soles, also known as turning shoes. We get to wear any comfortable clothing for jazz, tap, and acrobatics.
We dance at Axis Dance and Acro and we love it there. Our team has a great time at competitions, and we’ve made wonderful friends! We both have solos this year and love competing. Dance has become a big part of our lives and we enjoy it so much. We think everyone can dance if they try!
