Fun loving, awesome grandparents By Chelby Spaabeck, Fairview Is spending Thanksgiving with your grandparents fun? For me it is because I don’t always get to see them. Every Thanksgiving I spend it with my cousins, uncles, aunts, and grandparents. There’s always laughter and food so I call it a great time! Usually we just sit around and talk until the food is ready, but sometimes we all watch television, or all of the kids go down stairs to watch movies or to play Call of Duty. This year me, my mom and my grandma all sat at the table and just talked about everything. My grandpa on the other hand was watching the football game or something. I love spending Thanksgiving with them, mostly because their fun to talk to and so much wiser than I am, so it’s fun to ask them questions about back when they were kids. They aren’t like usual old people I know, they’re like my best friends – kind of like just people to depend on. They are like old ninjas who have seen and know almost everything! It’s always a great time listening to my grandpa talk about old stories and my

Then we all play apples to apples and other fun board games. Last year for Thanksgiving we went to my other grandmother’s house and all of us were outside watching the guys ride around on a thing called the odyssey. They took the hood of a pickup and tied it to the back of it and went sledding! Then they took It and jumped off this hill with it. Even my grandpa took it for a spin. My grandpa loves trains so he let me try playing with one of his collectable train set when I was younger. We spent almost the whole afternoon playing with the train. He

taught me how to drive it and how to hook it up to the other parts of the train. My grandma always lets us play with her old board games when we go to their house. My mom used to always take us to our grandparents house after church so we would always get a treat from them, usually they gave us ice cream and sometimes they even gave us pie! But we would always have to be careful because of their buffalo cat named bobby. That cat is the devil cat. It even chased me around the kitchen for a few minutes before my grandpa saved me! That cat is so mean it wouldn’t even let me go to the bathroom! But the cat is nice to my grandparents so they like him. My grandparents are awesome people. They’re always there for you when you need them. Their dependable, great loving people. I love them because their family, because their hilarious people, they’re my heroes, and they get me presents for my birthday! My grandparents always love to talk so I think it’s fun to listen and learn. Well, my grandparents are grand because they are fun, loving and are awesome!
