As a committee, the Jindalee State School P & C is focussed on promoting parent participation and encouraging collaboration between parents, students, the teachers and administration staff within the school. It is about fostering a commitment to achieving the best educational outcomes for the children.

The teaching and administration staff, led by the principal can only achieve so much on their own and the P & C acts as an extension to their great work. They ensure projects such as the purchase of air conditioning, new classroom furniture and lights on the multi-purpose courts just to name a few. They also manage the tuckshop, uniform shop, School Aged Care Program and they drive fund raising through events such as the annual fete.

Sponsorship

Final Call 7th August

No, it is certainly not to late to come on board as a sponsor. There are still sponsorship packages available and you certainly won’t be disadvantaged by choosing to join us now rather than earlier. You WILL get great coverage - that’s a FACT! Our fete organisers just happen to have professional backgrounds in marketing, advertising and event management. This is such a valueadd for our fete sponsors because we understand sponsorship is not just a gift, it is a partnership between the school community and the broader business community, where both parties help each other achieve goals.

What this means is we can leverage off our unique position, where we have an engaged audience and use that to showcase your business. Every opportunity we have, we get your name out there so folks know exactly who our supporters are. It is this very understanding which has spurred on bold projects such as the introduction of The Dirt.

Ask us for a copy of our sponsorship proposal.

A Request from the Editor

A Note to All Convenors

Supplying material for The Dirt I have introduced a regular feature in The Dirt which goes under the title of ‘What’s Happening? A Word from Our Convenors.’ This feature is designed as a place where you can ask for help, materials required and to thank your helpers publicly. To keep the ball rolling and ensure timely production of the magazine I need to get your material one week prior to the publication date on the magazine. There is a schedule to make sure the magazine is published and distributed on publicised dates (our advertisers and sponsors are counting on it). The next four issues will be coming out weekly so it is crucial to stick to the schedule. Here is a guide for you to go by:

BRONZE SPONSOR

Issue 5 Your deadline for material is Fri 1 August, 7pm. Any material supplied after this will go into issue 6. • Distribution occurs from Wed 6 to Fri 8 • Issue 5 is officially dated Fri 8

Issue 6 Your deadline for material is Fri 8 August, 7pm. Any material supplied after this will go into issue 7. • Distribution occurs from Wed 13 to Fri 15 • Issue 6 is officially dated Fri 15 Issue 7 Your deadline for material is Fri 15 August, 7pm. Any material supplied after this will go into issue 8. • Distribution occurs from Wed 20 to Fri 22 • Issue 7 is officially dated Fri 22 Issue 8 Your deadline for material is Fri 22 August, 7pm. No material can be supplied after this time. • Distribution occurs from Wed 27 to Fri 29 • Issue 8 is officially dated Fri 29 If you would like to run any stories of interest, apart from what is in the What’s Happening? feature, your submission is most welcome. (Example: see the article Hot Tip: Removing Labels from Jars in this issue). For this to happen I need to know your intention on the Tuesday prior to the Friday material deadline so I can factor space into the layout. Your final material is due on the Friday as usual. Please send any material directly to Stef info@whodunnit.com.au

There will be the option in all upcoming issues to put in a roster for helpers that can be updated from issue to issue. The base rosters will appear in Issue 5 and then as people put their hands up to help, the rosters will be populated over subsequent issues. The Dirt will provide another avenue to publicise your need for help but this should not be used as a replacement for other methods of roping in (I mean signing up) helpers. Still put up paper rosters outside your allocated classrooms and use your network of friends and families. If you would like to put a roster for your stall into The Dirt please provide a list of time slots, how many volunteers are needed, what are the job roles and anything else that might be applicable to your individual stalls. For the sake of time saving, you don’t need to spend your time doing anything elaborate with the information. You can just email me directly by Tuesday 29 August with this information to Stef: info@whodunnit.com.au

Sunf lower P lants Sunflower Plants is the sunniest of places to be on fete day. It is where the grass grows greener and colourful flowers are in abundance. Our stall is plants and much, much more! There will be bromeliads, herbs, succulents and perennials, just to name a few favourites. You will also find loads of decorations for the garden such as windmills; Aussie wind chimes; decorative herb and plant markers; pretty pots and planters. If you get into a bit of gardening then drop by and see us on the oval.

Spotlight on our Gum Tree Glow Sticks

See your children firefly off into the night sky with some gum tree glow stick fun! What illuminated wonders will the Glow Stick Stall have this year? Well that’s something the organisers are keeping under their glowing hats right now. It’s a surprise to inspire maximum excitement on the night. However, rest assured there will be the latest and greatest funky novelties available today. This is a must visit stall between the hours of 4pm-7pm. There will be lots of fabulous glowing novelties.

Don’t forget to share The Dirt on your favourite social network to give our sponsors, advertisers and stallholders maximum coverage.

Jillaroo Jams & Chutneys Pump up the jam! …And you’ll need to be quick because this is one of our most popular fete stalls. Last year we sold out early, so this year we have been busily making more conserves. However, conservative we are not - we have increased our range of products this year and you will find delicious homemade goodies such as jams, chutneys and relishes; hommus; vegetable stock; pickled onions and lemon butter. Yum, yum, yum. Get yourself into a jam! You can find us in the hall.

Hot Tip: Removing No more scratching, scraping and It couldn’t be easier to contribute, could it. Just collect your empty jars and hand them over for re-purposing. Right? …WRONG! It’s seems like an easy enough thing to do to just donate a clean empty jar but what about those pesky labels? They can be a nightmare to remove. Well, for a pleasant surprise try this tip.

Any Face Painters Out There? What’s a fete without a Face Painter? If you have the ability to paint pretty designs on the cutest of canvasses, then we need you. You don’t need to supply the paints or brushes; we’ll do that. All we need is your steady hand and magic touch. It would be great to have the stall available all day but if you can only do a few hours, that’s fine too. Perhaps there is a couple of you out there that can share it. So come on - how about it? How can you possibly say no to these little faces?

Spotlight on our Ou Who you will find at the fete I have been attending the Jindalee fete for the past 14 years and always make sure the date is in my diary for this wonderful event. Each year I look forward to discovering what the theme will be and I can’t wait to be part of the I Love a Sunburnt Country theme. This year there will be some exciting new lines - scarves, colourful bags and homewares. I will also have my usual favourites such as crystals, sun catchers, jewellery, woodwork and mosaics. There are gifts for all ages. I look forward to seeing you all again - Annette.
