Bradford, set in the foothills of the Pennines and at the junction of three valleys, is home to the fabulous Bradford Golf Club – a Herbert Fowler designed golf course.

Originally known as The Bradford St. Andrews Golf Club, The Bradford Golf Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in Yorkshire. The open moorland course has existed at its present site since 1899. However, in the 1922/23 season, the course was substantially altered by golf course architect, W. Herbert Fowler and his team.

Today, the golf course is one of only two Fowlerdesignated courses in Yorkshire. Since its original design, the Club’s management team have made significant investments in upkeep, including modern development in terms of drainage and the construction of new bunkers.

A HERBERT FOWLER MASTERPIECE SINCE 1923 Established at Baildon in 1891 as ‘The Bradford & St. Andrews Golf Club’, and relocated to its present site in 1899. The Course was redesigned by W Herbert Fowler in 1923, one of the most renowned golf architects of the “Golden Era” .

The Par 71 championship golf course measures 6,303 yards from the championship tees and is recognised as one of the oldest golf clubs in Yorkshire.

The course runs in two loops with spacious fairways leading to, fast and testing greens with subtle borrows.

The 10th and 18th holes each finish outside the clubhouse.

The club has embarked on a thoughtful re-discovery of its Fowler heritage, taking inspiration from some of Fowler’s other courses, the work enhances the original Fowler design, with the trees now forming more natural groups. Five holes are now complete, with the 16th and 17th described as iconic.

Excellently maintained by the Club’s dedicated green keeping team, the course is kept in immaculate condition for both summer and winter golf and provides a real challenge for players of all abilities.

Home to the prestigious, Hawksworth Trophy – a 36-hole strokeplay competition for the leading amateur golfers in Northern England, The Bradford’s moorland course is also home to many of Yorkshire’s leading amateur championship events.

Tuition is also available, led by Head PGA Professional (class AA), Andrew Hall and his team.

The clubhouse at The Bradford underwent a £350,000 refurbishment in 2012 and, now offers a beautifully appointed, contemporary space with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. With stunning views across the Aire Valley, the clubhouse also features a patio area for enjoyment in summer months.

The club offers a well-stocked bar seven days a week, and menus that are specially designed to give you excellent choice at a range of prices to suit all requirements. Catering for all manner of social functions and formal occasions, the Club is also recognised as an exceptional wedding venue in Yorkshire with setting and service second to none.

Society organisers are welcome to tailor the Club’s existing society packages to create their ideal golf day.
