WHAT DOES "RESIDENT' MEAN?
Resident means you live within the Wheeling Park District boundaries. In addition, all children enrolled as students in School Districts 21 and 23 are granted resident rates on qualifying non-contractual youth programs.
If you have never used our registration system and want to qualify for resident fees, please stop by the Guest Service Desk at the CRC and show proof of residency status. Valid drivers license, utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage agreement are acceptable forms of proof.
Non-resident guests are always welcome to take part in programs and activities.
Payment is accepted by cash, check and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express). '

Through regular, structured sessions, our Start Young classes help children ages 6 and under develop fundamental motor skills, coordination, and a love for physical activity. These classes are designed to nurture growth, build confidence, and introduce the basics of their sport in a fun and age-appropriate way.
Under the direction of Chicago Loves Dance, toddlers have a blast moving, jumping, and tumbling while having loads of fun! Each session promotes parent-child bonding as your little one explores and learns in a secure, playful environment. One parent must participate with their child during class. No class on 5/24 & 7/5.

The Lil Dribblers program introduces children to the game of basketball through ageappropriate games and activities. Your child will develop skills and gain confidence in a fun and safe environment while learning with others.

Lil Strikers Juniors uses age-appropriate games and drills to promote motor skills and familiarity with a soccer ball. Through fun games and adventure-themed activities, players develop skills such as balance, shooting, close ball control, and trapping.

The Lil Strikers Rookies program is the next step in development for your young soccer player. The focus of classes is on fundamentals that are crucial for every budding soccer player. Players focus on foot placement while shooting, following through on their shot, manipulating the ball in creative ways, defensive stance, and much more—all while participating in fun games and adventure-themed activities. No Class 5/25 and 7/6.

Parents are an integral part of helping their tots develop basic sports movement and motor skills through the great sport of baseball. Motor skill activities focus on hand-eye and running coordination. Sports equipment and instruction are provided to help guide your child through an introduction to organized sports. Parent or caregiver participation is required, and participants should bring their own gloves if desired. No Class 5/25 and 7/6.

This introductory T-Ball program is perfect for a child who wants to have fun, make new friends, and be introduced to baseball. Participants enjoy learning the skills needed to play baseball, including offense and defense, as well as the rules and philosophies of the game. The program stresses teamwork over competition. All you need to bring is a glove! No Class 5/25 and 7/6.

Young children develop memory, flexibility, strength, and coordination in fun yet disciplined activities designed for growing minds and bodies. Hot Shots Lil Strikers Soccer League exposes youth players to team dynamics while developing beginner soccer skills. Through practices and gameplay, players learn new techniques and improve existing skill levels. Each week, players will practice for 15 minutes, then divide into teams for a 45-minute game.

With a 60-year history embraced by millions, AYSO Play! nurtures the development of soccer expertise and fundamental motor skills in children. Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on social and emotional learning, ensuring a comprehensive developmental journey.

This camp is designed to transition youth players to the next level. Through specifically designed small-sided games and scrimmages, coaches work with each player to improve his or her individual skills. Each camp session focuses on precision passing, targeted shooting and intermediate to advanced ball control techniques.

Each day, campers focus on skill development and fundamentals for their respective sport, followed by game play. The Wheeling Park District is joining with APCL Cricket Academy to expose young athletes to the game of cricket. Come out and learn the basics of batting, bowling, and fielding with APCL’s professional coaches in a fun and engaging environment. Age-appropriate equipment will be provided. This beginner class is perfect for your first-time Lacrosse player. Age-appropriate sized sticks and softer balls will be used for safety. Children will learn skills including cradling, stick work, passing, shooting, and running with the ball and more.

Players are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer tactics, such as passing the ball, offensive moves, defensive moves, ball control, faking the ball away from the opposing team, and learning how to score and prevent goals. At this age, the focus starts to change from simple games to organized, tactical, and competitive games. No Class 7/6.

Play Hard Hoops teaches the fundamentals of the sport in an encouraging environment to develop young basketball players of all ages and abilities in this eight-week co-ed league. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall benefits of having a positive attitude are emphasized along with game concepts that build a passion for the sport. Parents—this class is an excellent opportunity to spend quality time with your child while conditioning muscles, developing coordination, and improving cardiovascular fitness. Fees are per person. Commit to learning the game of Pickleball with other beginners. Players will learn the basics of pickleball, including stroke mechanics, how to serve, volley, dink, hit a 3rd drop shot, drive, score, and more in drill and game-based scenarios. By the end of the session, players will know proper pickleball etiquette, strategy of the game, and have the confidence to participate in drop-in pickleball programs.

This class is for advancing beginners who have some experience and want to continue to improve their pickleball game. Players will participate in drills and work on consistency in forehand and backhand shots, serving, volleying, dinks, and lobs. Players will learn the strategy and ball placement and work on a softer game which will help take their game to the next level by learning to play smarter, not harder. All participants must have pickleball playing experience and must commit to the entire session.

Elevate your game with these specialized intermediate-level pickleball sessions! Designed for players with at least one year of experience and a solid understanding of the game, this program focuses on: (1) Refining techniques, (2) building consistency, and (3) Improving shot accuracy. Choose between a pay-as-you-go option or commit to multiple sessions to take your skills to the next level!

The Wheeling Park District Drop-In Pickleball Program is ideal for recreational players who want to stay active, have fun, and socialize in a relaxed environment. It’s perfect for the casual player who enjoys the game without the pressure of serious competition. All skill levels are welcome—just bring your enthusiasm for a good time! Games are played to 11, win by 2, and when others are waiting, please rotate off the court after your match. You’re encouraged to mix it up and play with different partners, though you can also paddle up with your own foursome. We look forward to seeing you on the court!
A daily fee is required to play, but for those who are committed and love to drop in more often, we also offer convenient punch pass and membership options!
