The natural world around us has turned into a green, abundant paradise in the last few weeks, and we’re coming into the perfect time to collect all sorts of magical and medicinal Yukon plants for tea. There are so many different kinds of delicious infusions that can be made from the wild plants that grow in our forests, meadows, lakeshores, riverbanks and roadsides. With a little bit of research and a few simple tips on how to preserve them, you can gather wild plants to use for tea, all year long. The days of buying expensive imported teas can be a distant memory if you so desire.

During the summer months, plants can be gathered and used fresh, but what do you do when these warm days come to an end and the Yukon turns back into a winter wonderland? Preserving wild plants and herbs for tea,

process that allows you to fill your pantry with local medicines. The flavour and healing properties of many plants are actually more concentrated when they are dried, and if dried properly, you can store and use these different Yukon plants for at least a year without losing any of their original taste or benefits.

TIPS FOR DRYING WILD PLANTS

• It’s best to collect wild plants on a dry, sunny morning before the day gets hot.

• You may want to use scissors or gloves to harvest plants such as stinging nettle or raspberry leaves, to avoid an uncomfortable experience.

• For plants where you want to use the leaves, such as red raspberry leaves or wild strawberry leaves, it’s ideal to harvest them before the plant begins to flower, so that its energy and strength

• Collect harvested flowers and leaves in a basket or a paper bag where moisture can escape (avoid plastic bags).

• Instead of washing foraged plants, just brush off any dirt as best as you can.

• Transfer plants to your drying area as soon as possible, after harvesting, to conserve the plant’s flavour and medicinal powers.

• You can hang small bunches upside down or spread individual leaves and flowers out on a dry surface where air can flow through; for example, on a cake rack covered with paper towels, or a drying rack made with screens.

• Dry a single layer of leaves at a time (and hanging bundles should have space between them so that they can dry quickly and evenly).

• Dry herbs in a warm, dry and

stituents of certain plants. Air drying is the simplest method, especially in our relatively dry Yukon climate.

• Before storing them, label each jar or bag of herbs with their name, the date and, if you’d like, with where you harvested them.

A few of my favourite Yukon

wild plants (that are easily identified and made into tea) are red raspberry leaves, yarrow and wild mint. Red-raspberry-leaf tea (Rubus idaeus) has a mild and sweet flavour and is wonderful for the female reproductive system. It has traditionally been used to prepare the uterus for labour and childbirth, with the intention of shortening labour time and increasing the likelihood of a natural birth.

Yarrow tea (Achillea millefolium) has a long history of being used to lower fevers by causing you to sweat more and therefore releasing heat and toxins from your body. Its slightly bitter taste stimulates digestion, and it has also been used to relax the smooth muscles of the stomach to alleviate cramps. While domesticated varieties exist, the wild white and pink ones are said to be the most medicinal: a powder of the dried leaves can even be used to stop blood flow from wounds, cuts and nosebleeds.

And finally, wild mint (Mentha arvensis) is an exceptional alternative to store-bought mint tea, with a similarly pleasant and stimulating flavour and the health benefits of easing indigestion, alleviating nausea and reducing cold symptoms.

The list of wild Yukon plants that can be gathered and dried for tea is extensive, and I’ve only scratched the surface of some of their medicinal actions and healing uses. Some other great ones to enjoy are red clover, wild rose, horsetail, fireweed, bedstraw, Labrador tea, stinging nettle, twinflower and wild strawberry leaves.

Always make sure that you have correctly identified what you’re harvesting and that you’re

gathering the right part of the plant. Take some time to research the usage and contraindications since some plants are so powerful that only small quantities should be ingested, or they shouldn’t be consumed regularly for extended periods of time.

There are many great herbalism resources available online and in our local library. Beverley Gray’s The Boreal Herbal is a Yukon favourite. Herbalists like Rosemary Gladstar, Juliette de Baïracli Levy and Susun Weed are also wellknown sources of information. You may even feel inspired to take an herbalism course online, such as one of the classes offered at the Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine.

Look for reputable, reliable guidance and go collect your own Yukon wild herbal teas this year! ■

KEEPING COYOTES AT BAY

oyote attacks on humans are rare, but a quick internet search will list hundreds of these incidents. The greatest number of interactions are with children under five years of age. At this time, two deaths have resulted from coyote attacks. A four-year-old child and a 19-yearold female jogger in Nova Scotia were the victims. Coyotes attack on their own and also in packs.

Coyotes are very adaptable and, unlike other predators, they thrive living in our urban environment. A coyote that does not run away when encountering humans is most likely accustomed to or habituated to people. This often occurs when a coyote has been fed by humans through handouts (intentional feeding by humans), by leaving pet food outside, through unsecured garbage or with bird seed from feeders. Coyotes that come to depend on these food

sources are more inclined to approach humans, looking for a handout, and may also display a “too tame” attitude or have aggressive behaviour.

When coyotes become habituated, hazing can reinstill the natural fear of humans. Hazing is employing a variety of scare tactics to teach coyotes to regard humans as threatening and to avoid them.

Often coyote problems are preventable by modifying human behaviour and teaching people ways to prevent habituation. In many human-attack situations, it turned out that the coyote(s) were being fed by the humans. In other instances, people were bitten while trying to rescue their free-roaming or even leashed pet from an attack. Children are vulnerable because they are small, make quick movements and make lots of different sounds.

AVOIDING COYOTES

• Do not feed coyotes.

• Do not feed pets outdoors.

• Do not allow pets to run free.

• Clean-up spilled bird seed. Coyotes are attracted to the small mammals and birds around a feeder.

• Install a high-quality fence that extends six inches beneath the ground.

• When you encounter a coyote, be loud and aggressive, wave your arms and throw sticks and stones. • Pick up small children and pets.

• Take action to deter the coyote in every encounter.

• Teach children that coyotes are dangerous.

• Suggest these tips to neighbours. Similar to bears, wolves and foxes, it is usually human behaviour that creates or worsens the problem. ■

THE QUILT PROJECT: ONE STITCH FOR A BETTER PLANET

repairing an old blanket: “I am inviting members of the public to stop by the depot and help me repair the badly damaged quilt. The project is a metaphor for the thoughtful, careful work that is needed to repair our planet right now. My hope is that the project will build community and provide a space for people of all backgrounds to have deeper conversations and share world views about the state of our planet and what

could work together to mend them.”

Patterson’s grandmother Glennie Patterson was born in 1880 and died in 1975. She lived with Patterson’s parents and siblings. “It was a rare occasion when my grandmother was not knitting socks, mending socks, cutting up old clothing for quilt squares, or sewing a quilt,” she said. After she died and after her parents died, Patterson was helping to clean the family home and came across the quilt. “It was one of the few things left from my grandmother, and I brought it back to the Yukon with me.”

Janet Patterson is in her sixties and has been a visual artist since 2019, when she retired. Art has always been a part of her life, but in the past she was involved in performing arts. For many years she taught piano. Patterson is one of the artists of Yukon Artists at Work. She likes to work with natural and used material, focussing on environmental issues. This is Patterson’s second residency with Raven Recycling: last summer she spent two weeks at the depot creating an installation that focussed on fast fashion and its impact on the environment.

has made people nostalgic about a time in their own past. In this time of fast fashion, fast food, fast cars and a fast pace in the workplace, I think people appreciate just taking a breath. Hand sewing is slow, contemplative work. I think people are relieved to step off the treadmill for even a short while to focus on something like this.” She added that anyone can mend a quilt: it takes some simple hand-sewing skills, and Patterson can help people if they have never used a needle before.

“I think my grandmother would be pleased that her quilt is being given a new life in this way.”

Patterson took the project to both the Fireweed Market and to Raven Recycling, earlier this month, but plans to take the quilt to some rural Yukon communities— for public workshops. In addition, she plans to take the quilt back to Nova Scotia, where she grew up and where her grandmother made the blanket. ■

On June 7, Janet Patterson took the quilt that she had inherited from her grandmother, to Raven Recycling. Not to throw it away, but to repair it using textiles and buttons retrieved from the red textile bins

at the depot. She was putting a patch of fabric over the damaged part of the blanket and sewing it by hand. It is her second artist residency at Raven Recycling Society.

The Quilt Project is more than

we can do to bring about positive change,” Patterson said. “In my feelings of despair for the state of the planet, I realized that a mending project like this could be more than just fixing a blanket; perhaps it could help me work through my sadness and provide some clarity as to a path forward.”

She had been meaning to mend the quilt for years. As it turned out, she wasn’t the only one who owned an old quilt. “Some people who came by said they had quilts at home that were damaged, and I encouraged them to bring them into the recycling depot and we

The quilt will be taken to Nova Scotia, where she grew up. In addition to that, she wants to take the blanket to some rural communities in the Yukon—for public workshops. She told What’s Up Yukon that she hasn’t made firm plans about it, yet, and will decide when her current project is finished. “I will see who is interested,” Patterson said.

The project has gone well, so far: “People were curious to know what I was doing, and a number of people sat down and mended the quilt with me. Several said it brought back memories of their own grandma making quilts.

“In general, I think my project

Entrepreneurs have always had a knack for looking around, discovering a niche that needs to be filled and creating a business to meet that need. Another such individual was Turner Townsend.

CELEBRATING DAWSON CITY’S HISTORIC GARDENERS

Townsend had been in Dawson and was a Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP) member since 1897. He ran a cigar store, “Townsend & Rose” (circa 1903), with Daniel Rose and with the assistance of his wife, Francis. Turner and Francis and their children, Emma, Lil, Jim, George, Charlie, Alfred and Norton, were well-known in town. The Townsends were involved in all aspects of community life, notably in playing hockey for the Odd Fellows, and as active Freemasons. Two of the Townsend boys enlisted with the George Black contingent, in 1916, and survived the frontline.

Townsend’s flowers provided a touch of colour and class to Klondikers, even in the bleakest of months.”

If you have a family member, friend or ancestor who has (or had) a passion for gardening, please drop me a line at hdewell@ yahoo.ca.

Information about the McQuesten family (primary sources):

By the 1890s, local traders were growing vegetables to supplement a monotonous diet of beans, bread and mouldy bacon. Klondike gardeners discovered the need for fresh produce to feed the residents at Dawson and the surrounding creeks. Miners were willing to pay higher prices for fresh produce. Sound familiar? Dawsonites are still content to purchase local produce and pay a good price for it!

“Yukon apples” (turnips)

proved to be one of the mostsuccessful crops, and traders Jack McQuesten (one of the founding members of the Yukon Order of Pioneers, which was established in 1894) and his wife, Satejdenalno Ngetah (Kate), grew tons. Their success could perhaps be attributed to owning the only plough in the Yukon and also trying to train two tame moose to pull it. The vegetables from Satejdenalno’s bountiful gardens helped many a miner to fend off scurvy, while

the medicinal herbs she sold kept away other illnesses. Mother of 11 children, Satejdenalno integrated both Indigenous and American customs into her lifestyle and became a much-respected community leader at Forty Mile.

It is interesting to discover articles about the adventurous individuals who came to the Klondike in search of their fortune, only to discover that many of the claims had already been staked and that they were too late. Local entre

FULL NAME: Isabella Demers AGE/GRADE: 15, grade 9 TRADE: Carpentry SKILLS YUKON AFFILIATION: 2023 Territorial Skills Competition Competitor SCHOOL: F.H. Collins Secondary School

Can you tell us a bitabout your experience with the trade, so far?

I’ve grown up around carpentry, with my dad, as we do projects around home and at work. This year was my first year taking a carpentry class in high school.

What motivates you to keep learning the trade?

I would say that my dad is my motivator.

Was there someone who got you excited about competing in the skills competition?

My woodwork teacher, Mr. Devigne, who has previously competed at the skills competition in carpentry, is who got me interested in the skills competition. He was also my mentor.

What was the most intimidating part about the competition?

The most intimidating part about the competition would be the pressure of feeling like I have to do everything really well to prove myself to be as good as the boys. Do you plan to try out for the competition next year, as well?

I do plan on competing this coming year with the new skills I’ll develop over summer and into winter.

Did it still feel intimidating afterwards?

Now that I’ve done the competi-

tion and know what to expect, I know I won’t feel nearly as intimidated next year.

Is there anything you plan to do to prepare yourself for the territorial competition in 2024?

I plan on fully building the project, more than once, and doing more visualization to really make sure I know every step and what works best for me.

What advice would you give someone who is interested in carpentry but isn’t sure how to start learning?

I would suggest possibly finding a teacher or an experienced person in carpentry that you could help with projects and that you feel comfortable with and that will support you.

How much do you see yourself using carpentry throughout your life?

I see myself using carpentry a lot as it is a vital skill to have in life. Using my knowledge of carpentry, I

can create plans and build any project (that’s not a house), instead of having to hire someone to do it.

What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on?

The most interesting project I’ve worked on would be when, as a class, we built a shed to sell—so that the money could be used to purchase more materials for the woodshop at F.H. Collins.

Do you have a least-favourite part of the trade?

My least-favourite part about carpentry would be cutting all of the wood.

What about your favourite part?

My favourite part of carpentry is the assembly of a project. It’s really satisfying to step back and think of how you turned some boards into a structure or into something that doesn’t even look anything like a board.

Is there anything that has surprised you that you’ve learned about carpentry?

Something that has surprised me with carpentry is how precise you may need to be while working on a project.

Do you have any plans to pursue this as a career when you’re done with secondary school?

I do not plan to pursue carpentry as a career. It is something I enjoy, though.

If you had to choose another trade to learn that you have never tried before, what would it be?

If I had to choose another trade to learn that I’ve never tried before, I would choose aesthetics. It seems really fun and I’ve always liked styling hair and painting nails. ■

ONE MORE RHUBARB APPLE CRUMBLE RECIPE

Acouple of weeks ago, the oil tank guys were coming to take out our old tank and pour a cement pad for the new one. Their path to the tank was choked with rhubarb and I made a mental note to harvest before they came. But oil tank guys get busy, and they don’t come, and they don’t come—and then they’re here and the yard is still full of rhubarb.

One definition of frantic: grayhaired woman in T-shirt and pajama bottoms rushing through yard from plant to plant while dog barks at oil tank guys who yell at each other to “Reverse!

Reverse! Keep coming! … WHOA!” while the truck beeps its frenzied warning and neighbours stop, middogwalk, to enjoy the spectacle. When the dust settled, I sat on the verandah to clean and organize about 15 pounds of rhubarb. I gave some away, roasted some and showed the biggest, reddest stalks to my roommate. “If there was anything in the world you would like me to cook with this rhubarb, what would it be?” “Hmmm. Maybe a crumble? The kind I ate as a kid. With apples.”

I obliged.

Here it is, in the theory that,

yes, the world does need yet another rhubarb and apple crumble recipe.

(PS: the new oil tank has not arrived and the rhubarb is coming back … Noooo!)

RHUBARB APPLE CRUMBLE

The simplest dessert, calling only for ice cream, yogurt or whipped cream on the side.

INGREDIENTS

❑ 8 cups chopped rhubarb

❑ 4 cups chopped apples (I used 3 large Ambrosia apples, unpeeled)

❑ 1 cup sugar

❑ 3 Tbsp cornstarch

❑ 1 tsp cinnamon

❑ 1/2 tsp ground ginger

❑ 1 cup butter

❑ 1 cup brown sugar

❑ 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

❑ 1 1/2 cups rolled oats

METHOD

Preheat oven to 350o

Combine rhubarb and apple in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch and spices together. Pour over fruit and mix thoroughly to combine.

Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Transfer apples and rhubarb to the pan.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add brown sugar and stir until sugar has dissolved.

Remove from heat and stir in flour and oats. Spread topping evenly over the fruit. Don’t worry if a bit of fruit pokes up here and there. It will sink as it cooks.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until filling is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.

Remove from oven and cool on a rack for 10 minutes or so before serving. Serve with ice cream, thick yogurt or whipped cream. Makes 10 or 12 good-sized servings. ■

RICE AND CORN PORRIDGE

With Bacon, Peppers And Soft Egg

Cooking summer-fresh corn and bacon together gives this porridge a sweet and savoury taste that makes a great contrast to the richness of the soft eggs. Add a nice dollop of something spicy on top for another layer of flavour.

SERVES 2.

INGREDIENTS

❑ 2 strips of bacon, chopped

❑ 1 onion, chopped

❑ 2 ears of corn, with kernels removed

❑ 1 red pepper, finely chopped

❑ 1 cup cooked rice

❑ 3 cups of water

❑ 2 eggs

INSTRUCTIONS

In a pot over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until the fat starts to render, about 3 minutes. Then add the onion, corn and pepper, and continue to cook until vegetables begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add rice and stir to combine, then add water and bring to a simmer. Cook at a low simmer for 20 minutes or until rice starts to break down and liquid starts to thicken. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

Bring a small pot of water to a boil, add eggs and cook for 6 minutes, then remove and place into cold water.

Divide porridge between two bowls, top each one with a peeled soft egg, and serve. ■

ENERGETIC SPRING CLEANING

life-affirming or not.

is something wrong with them and that they are unlovable.

Our ancestors would naturally cleanse and balance their energy by walking through the woods and using herbs like sage to cleanse their energy field. Shamans would hold ceremonies and sweat lodges to keep their communities healthy.

The wisdom of the Elders was kept in high esteem. It was the “Google” of the past. Living in an industrialized country, these traditions are largely missing.

Today, we deal with a lot of artificial energy. In nature, we find a lot of negative ions, which in this case is a positive thing. Around computers, we find positive ions that have a harmful effect on us.

We often live in close proximity to other people or are in contact with many people through work, school and play. This means other people’s energy fields have more of an effect on us.

When we walk through town, it is like walking through the Holi Festival in India, except the energy we pick up is invisible to most people. The energy can be

Most people think that anger is a negative emotion, but it is a few steps up from fear, depression and grief. So if you have anyone in your life who deals with depression, celebrate when they get angry—and help them find healthy ways to express their emotions.

You might have had a tough day and someone is smiling at you. You run into a friend at the grocery store and have a quick chat, and by the time you come home, you feel better and full of hope. That is soaking up life-affirming energy.

If you question whether the energy stuff is affecting you, consider this: Have you ever had printer problems just before a deadline? Or did your kids act up when you came home stressed from work?

That is the world reacting to the energy you carry with you. Kids and animals mirror our state of mind. They are more honest with how they feel, until we train them not to be.

If we withdraw our love when they are acting up, with emotions they might have picked up at school or day care, we teach them that it is not safe to be honest. They might even think that there

My friend used to call me “the baby whisperer.” One day, her son came home from preschool and was throwing a tantrum. She sent him upstairs to cool off and I asked her if she wanted me to clear his energy field. She accepted my offer. It wasn’t because she believed in energy healing that she accepted my offer. She was at the end of her rope. I cleared his energy remotely and, within a few minutes, he came downstairs and apologized. He had picked up some energy in preschool that was the cause of his tantrum.

Just because we don’t see the energy doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I have not met one person who could see the Coronavirus (COVID), but I have met a lot of people who washed their hands and sanitized like crazy, including myself.

Now that you know that there is something you can pick up without knowing it—and, like a virus, spread it around—you might be interested in what you can do to prevent its effect on you, as well as its spread.

Good news: just by adding intention to washing hands and taking a shower, you can clear your energy field. Intention can be very simple; for example, “I let go of all energies and emotions that are not mine and are not serving me.”

Try it out for a week or two, and teach your children how to do it. I am certain it will make a big difference in everyone’s life. You can make it a game.

You can clear your energy field

through water, fire, air, essential oils, sound, your intention alone, visualizations and smudging, to mention a few ways. There are also techniques to clear your home and land.

Clearing through fire is a fun way to clear energy now that camping season is upon us.

Sit at a campfire, in front of a burning wood stove or a burning candle (not a battery-operated one) and face the flames with open eyes for three minutes. Then turn your back to the fire for another three minutes. Have the intention for the fire to clear your energy field. Please be careful around open flames.

Spring cleaning, itself, is also a

form of energetic cleansing.

The trick is to create the habit of clearing your energy, daily. At first, you might have to put a note on the shampoo in the shower, to remind yourself. It’s like brushing your teeth—once you are used to it, it feels weird not to do it.

If you are a science type, you might want to dive into quantum physics, the study of matter and energy.

In order to change the world, we have to raise consciousness; otherwise, we are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic (instead of avoiding the iceberg).

Energy clearing helps to raise our consciousness. ■

Clayton’s CAR CARE Tips

If you sense your car drifts or pulls to one side, you could have a wheel alignment problem. The alignment of your vehicle’s wheels can affect the way it handles. Your car may drive fine, but when you look at your tires, you may notice that they are wearing. Your steering wheel could also feel not centred. Our team of professionals can align your wheels by placing your vehicle on a wheel alignment machine. This machine uses laser guided measurements to allow our mechanic to set and adjust the suspension components back to the factory specifications. You can prevent the impact of wear and tear on your tires, reduce pulling and feel confident in a safer drive.

Meet Chloe!

Submitted by: B. Pasloski

She’s a 2.5-year-old Staffordshire Terrier cross. Chloe is a high-energy dog, she will need some leash training because she sure is a puller. She is an absolute love and just wants to climb up and kiss you all over. She loves to play and is motivated by treats and affection. She is quite the escape artist as well, so for now, she can not be left in an unattended yard.

If you are interested in adopting Chloe, please lll out an online application at humanesocietyyukon.ca. If you already have a preapproved application with us within the last year, call 633-6019 to put your application towards her. Note: Please submit only 1 application, noting your rst choice.

SHELTER HOURS:

The Best Things in Life are… Rescued!

She is a 2-year-old, female German Shepherd. Maple is available for adoption from foster. Her foster family really enjoys having her, but it’s time for her to find her forever home. Visit the link below to see what her foster family they have to say about her. Maple is outgoing and friendly, she loves to play with other dogs of all sizes. She is smart and learns quickly. She is very tolerant and trusting when it is time for her hip exercises.

She would do well in a home with children, with proper introduction of another dog. We do not know how she is with cats. Maple has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia which is likely congenital. The vet believes with proper care and management she is able to live a full and happy life. Potential adopters are encouraged to do their research into the financial and emotional cost of ensuring a dog like Maple maintains a high quality of life.

If you are interested in adopting Maple, please filll out an online application at humanesocietyyukon.ca. If you already have a preapproved application with us within the last year, call 633-6019 to put your application towards her. Note: Please submit only 1 application, noting your first choice.

TEAMWORK 2023 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Convention

From April 29 to May 3, members of the Victoria Gold team participated at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Convention in Montreal. Victoria Gold representatives attend this technical mining conference each year, which allows Company members to meet with valued suppliers face-to-face, network, present highlights from the Eagle Gold Mine and attend technical sessions. Andrew Ballance, Mine Operations Manager; Kelly Magnuson, Senior Administrative Coordinator; Nico Harvey, Senior Mine Engineer; Teagan Cartwright, Metallurgist; and, Aleisha Rocheleau, Mine Geologist, attended this year’s event on behalf of the Company.

“The CIM Convention was informative and provided good exposure for Victoria Gold,” says Teagan. “The EXPO (industry trade show)

allowed us to get to know some of our current vendors after having mostly communicated by email to date. It also provided us with the opportunity to connect with new suppliers that could provide beneficial support to the Company down the road at the Eagle Gold Mine and to learn about new technologies coming up in the industry.”

Andrew, who presented a technical talk on behalf of Victoria Gold says, “I enjoyed the conference and all the EXPO exhibits. Our Victoria Gold booth was well attended and I also learned about some new technologies and products to explore further.”

“I was pleased to expand my knowledge by attending short talks on topics such as Diversity and Inclusion, Safety Leadership and Decarbonization Trends,” says Aleisha. “In these structured presentations, we were free to learn and contribute to the discussions, with the common goal of ‘building trust to decarbonize the world.’”

“I’m grateful to have attended on behalf of Victoria Gold and the Eagle Gold Mine,” says Kelly. “I participated in a full-day Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) short course covering mining ESG trends, standards, investor decisions, materiality and reporting. I also attended the Women in Mining Canada reception which recognized a lot of inspiring women in the industry.”

“Throughout the EXPO, I met with a wide range of our current vendors and renewed connections with potential vendors,” says Nico. “I also attended a variety of technical talks and networking events and had a lot of great discussions surrounding Women in Mining.”

To learn more about CIM and the 2023 Convention, visit convention.cim.org

The Eagle Gold Mine is situated within Victoria Gold’s 100 per cent-owned Dublin Gulch Property located approximately 375 kilometres north of Whitehorse and 85 kilometres north, northeast of the Village of Mayo, within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun (FNNND). The company employs over 500 workers and contractors; half of which are Yukoners At Work and many are FNNND citizens.

If you are a Yukoner with mining experience, Victoria Gold encourages you to become a Yukoner At Work. Visit the “Work For Us” page at vgcx.com/contact/work-for-us/ and send your resume to greatpeoplework@vgcx.com
