The Atlin Whisper

“Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.”

Ingrid Linnea Dick June 18th 1941- August 8th 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ingrid Linnea Dick, who died peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family.

Ingrid was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She will be deeply missed by her children, Mel Dick (Kelly Horvath) and Laura Eby (Kelly); her grandchildren, Linsey Eby and Linea Pellizzaro (Marco); her great-grandchildren, Aurora, Joseph and Thomas, and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ingrid's life will be held at The Atlin Rec Center on September 14, 2025 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made directly to the Kelowna Women's shelter where Ingrid volunteered for many years.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, warm spirit, contagious laugh, and unwavering love for her family.

Peace is a beautiful sunset and knowing who made it.

Life is a mirror if you frown at it, it frowns back, if you smile it returns the greeting.

The Bench

The Liar runs from house to house

The Truth sits on the park bench

The Bar

Two guys walk into a bar

Looking for action

Truth sits there all alone

Soft blonde tresses rounding her shoulders

Quiet, confident, poised

The guys make a move on her

Full of hubris and bravado

Truth eats them alive

Chews them up and spits them out

The bartender sighs

And goes to get the broom, Again

The Wedding

Truth comes to the wedding

nobody invited her

But she comes anyway

Claiming that she knows everybody… intimately

Nobody calls her out on her claim

Not willing to make a fuss

Not wanting to argue with truth

So, truth enjoys her evening

Making polite conversation with the guests, Guarded as they are

Not knowing who she really is

The evening is quite lovely, Until truth drops a truth bomb

Right in the middle of the dance floor

It lands like a lead balloon

With a decidedly dull thud

The music stops

All heads turn to look at the bomb

Then turn to look flatly at truth

Then turn to look at each other

Shrug blankly

Then continue to dance

As if nothing ever happened

Everything is back to normal

The guests need only side-step the bomb

Ticking away on the dance floor

The

Sunset

The battlefield is strewn with carnage

Redcoats are slaughtering the Bluecoats

Bluecoats are slaughtering the Redcoats

Truth sits on a charred stump

Flossing her teeth

Staring in awe

At the beauty of the setting sun
